In reply to Yorik (msg # 50):

"Ah... Uhm..." Barry tenses up. "im.. I'm  not sure how comfortable I am with the idea. but..."

Barry is torn. On one end the information is right there. On the other, the doctor still makes Barry uncomfortable.

In reply to Barry (msg # 51):

That's not nearly as bad as Kaylee had imagined.

"Just go with him," Kaylee says to Barry. "It could be worse."

She pauses, considers, then asks, "What's a gala?"

In reply to Kaylee (msg # 52):

"It's a big fancy party with fancy food and fancy clothes and fancy people who think far too highly of themselves," Yorik answered Kaylee, "Very exclusive. This one is something of mixing pot for the University, when we get to meet with our employers, kiss their Epic asses and beg, 'Oh please Midas, I'm sure I can complete the device by next week, please don't kill me for being an incompetent nitwit,'" he spoke with uncharacteristically transparent bluntness.

"I'm sure it would be a relaxing, mostly casualty-free night for the two of us to get to know one another a little better," Yorik's voice dipped into a husky flirt, "Who knows, maybe I'll surprise you."

In reply to Yorik (msg # 53):

"Mmm," the thought of "fancy" everything and kissing Epic ass did not exactly appeal to Kaylee. "I haven't got any fancy clothes," she uses as an excuse.

"I guess I'll go then." Barry decides. "For the information that is. Also, getting a glimpse of these epics might be good for us," looking at Kaylee.

"Uhm. Do I have to dress nice?"

Yorik's eyes flicked up and down Barry, and then he gestured with a finger to Barry's outfit.

"Love, no date of mine is going to show up dressed like this," he stated.

"That's true..." Kaylee relents at Barry's comment. "But I still haven't got anything to wear."

"I think Devon had a dress you could probably borrow but i think it's too long," Barry comments. "But, I'm pretty confident that I don't have a suit that I can use."

In reply to Barry (msg # 58):

Yorik pursed his lips and gave a huff.

"Well, I'll make it work somehow."

"Meet me here," he scribbled an address on a scrap of paper and gave it to Barry, "At 5:00 this Sunday. No weapons, no ambushes, please tell me if you're not able to make it for some reason, because you won't get another dose of your treatment. If you can't pay, I can't treat you. Also, I expect you," he pointed to Barry, "To accompany me for the whole night. You," he said to Kaylee, "Can do whatever the hell you want as long as it doesn't involve murder. I don't want a repeat of last year's gala, sparks, that was an awful night. Anyhow, that should give us enough time to get pretty for the party, and we'll mosy on up to the gala."

In reply to Yorik (msg # 59):

"Darn... You do have something. Alright..." Barry says unexcitedly. He accepts thy he is going to the Gala with the doctor but the benefits seem to outweigh the costs."But no weapons at all? Can I have a knife just in case?"

In reply to Barry (msg # 60):

"No! You know who's going to be held responsible if you're found with a knife? ME! And then we'd both end up shot. There's security at this thing, and I choose life," he proclaimed, "You two seem rational enough, or at least not suicidal!"

In reply to Yorik (msg # 59):

Kaylee makes a face but is fairly confident that she can adjust the dress if needed. She's honestly not sure if she's ever worn a dress, and is not particularly excited to change that, but she does recognize that this is a great opportunity to scope out the Epics.

"I can't make any promises," she - somewhat - jokingly says about the murder.

"Now, any other questions? If not, I vote we pick up where we left off..." He reached his arm around Barry once more.

Barry awkwardly lifts the the doctors arm off of him and steps over to the side. "Let's save that for the Gala... "

"So uhm... what can you tell us about the girl?"

"Oh, back to her again?" Yorik sighed, and retreated a little, "Maybe it's time to revive 'patient confidentiality.....'"

"She only came into my office that one time. I've seen her a few other times, but never spoken. She's not really my type. Not much else to say."

Completely ignoring Kaylee, Yorik continued to speak to Barry.

"Remember, this is payment for two treatments of your miracle cure, crab-claws. And I reserve the right to revoke that treatment of you can't pay. Now, I've never stopped treatment midway through the procedure before, and while that would be a fascinating experiment in and of itself, I think you'd like full function of your limbs, and I'd like to see what you look like under that exoskeleton," Yorik walked a pair of fingers across Barry's hard shell as he casually threatened Barry's humanity.

"Trust me, I have my ways."

"Right... I don't want to quit the treatment now. I guess we just have to trust you" Barry had forgotten that this was not payment for just the information. It was for both treatments so far as well. He's lucky to be getting the information.

Yorik seemed slightly disappointed that the two of you were not staying longer, but still waved you a cheerful goodbye and called out, "Toodles!" as you left.

Barry and Kaylee exited the building into the cold sunlight if Ozymandias and made their way back to the Base.

In reply to Yorik (msg # 74):

Wether paranoia or reality, you could feel the clever eyes of birds upon you as you made your way back to the Base. Ravens dotted rooftops and pecked at debris on the streets, though none seemed to watch you or showed the uncanny intelligence of those who had accompanied Moreau.

While there was a skirmish with Enforcement in your path as you wove through District 3 after parking the dump truck at the junkyard again, you managed to make a wide circle around it and avoid the conflict entirely.

Barry and Kaylee finally made it back to Base, tired from a long day, but feeling better about their accomplishments. They descended down the stone halls of the Base and heard SUE over their mobiles.

Oh good, you are back! I have news!

As you enter into the main room, you see a figure leaning over the keyboards of SUE's database, frantically typing. She looks up, and you immediately recognize her.

Saria is back too!
