The sun was high up in the sky, blanketing the city below in 34 degrees of solar heat. A sedan followed by a van drove up to the head office of "Yanowich, Dreisel & Associates", former Front of Vigil's previous incarnation. From the outside some of the damage was already apparent.
The top floors had burned out, part of the roof had collapsed. broken glass laid strewn on the pavement below. Intermittent fencing connected by police lines kept anyone interested at a distance.
3 security guards stood outside talking to the cops parked in a patrol car in front of the building before the long arm of the law drove off, past the Vigil cars. The driver looked out his rolled down side window at the sedan James drove by them before the police car hit the gas and drove off.
Jacki drove the van, a paper bag with waffels from big Ed's Waffelhouse next to her chair. Though her team mates had been surprised at her caloric intake Jacki knew it was only a matter of time before she craved another snack.
In the back of the van Devon had been working on identifying the guard at Doorman&Doppler but with Devon's doorway into the firm's personell files it was easy enough to identify the nightguard as Archibald Clay, a 57 year old father of 3 with a 5 year career of keeping an eye on the corporate building during the night. His prior jobs had included several jobs in security. Under hobbies Archibald had written down: "
Playing a mean banjo and shuffleboarding with the wife on the weekends".
