I was recently introduced to a faction-based PbP freeform roleplaying style of game, which uses a very simple token system in which players roleplay from the POV of a representative or leader of the faction they pick. The game has turns, which last about a week of IRL time, during which they can spend tokens--typically each player/faction gets 3 tokens to spend per turn--to conduct a variety of actions that can affect the world, other player's factions and overarching story. Factions also have a number of assets (units, characters, resources, artifacts, etc.) that can help them in conducting certain actions and achieve their goals.

There's more to it of course, but that's the gist of the system!

I'm giving running one of these games a try for the first time, and I'm using an original high fantasy setting that I've been using for a more traditional RPG using the Open Legends system here on Rpol. However, after being introduced to this system, it felt like the setting could work much better in this faction-based freeform style, so I'm giving it a try! There are 18 asymmetrical factions to choose from, and a lot of lore relating to the world and the different factions to peruse over before you decide which faction you'd like to take on.
