Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

This is embarrassing, but one of the reasons I stopped playing Skyrim is that I was experiencing motion sickness anytime I player for longer than 20 minutes. I can't play FPS's because the same thing happens. For some reason, I could handle Fallout 3. But Skyrim, both in first person and third person camera modes, made me queasy.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

I can see that, actually.  The only time I've gotten motion sick involved a severe sinus infection but the camera in Skyrim bobbles around more than I like.

Any thoughts on which quest we want to take first?

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

OOC I don't really have any strong preference either way.

IC Jenna would likely think Pirate hunt or expedition to Yonder's Hole (it would have been Pirate Hunt by the presence of the Fire Watch at Yonder's Hole balances the scales slightly from Jenna's POV of doing good).

Still IC The more mercenary amongst the Company may wish to consider which pays most (or creates most good will, which I'm guessing would be bail out the Fire Watch - rescuing some of Overmark's troops would surely put us in her good books).

But as I said, ultimately I'm happy to go with the flow.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

I'm leaning towards Yonder's Hole myself, although Corros would probably rather stay in town. We also need to go say hi to nobles and see what they have on deck.  Maybe we can double down on something.  Or at least scope the politics a little more.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

I'm in agreement with Keys on both OOC and IC preference. I'll also caveat it that staying in town until the Fire Council pays up might let us equip better for leaving town.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

Sounds like we have an OOC consensus, then. Dave, you want to have Jenna volunteer us, since she has the strongest IC reason for that mission?

(Arguably, so does Ulfgar, but his negotiating skills are... suspect.)

Will do. I'll add some additional dialogue into JD's last post. Probably be about 30 mins.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

Alright, Yonders it is. You've got the evening and overnight before you are set to depart. Do you want to ask Overmark for any equipment or supplies? Shall I proceed from the keep and send you to dinner at the Vander estate? I know that Jenna wants to pop in at the temple of Arma. Y'all could stop there first (it's right next door). What's your pleasure?

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

Nic is not equipped for wilderness jaunts in the least, so some basic kit (bedroll, traveler's clothes, etc.) would be useful.  Also, if I haven't yet had a chance to buy the studded leather due to time spent making friends in the underworld, it'd be sweet if they could help out with that.

I doubt the good Commandant has a poisoner's kit handy.  ETA: Not that it'd help with this mission, it takes 20 days to craft a single dose of basic poison according to the rules as written.

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

The Fire Watch can outfit Nic with a set of studded leather armor, travelers clothes, and basic wilderness supplies, no problem. Aside from the armor, the same goes for the rest of the party as well.

While he was making contacts in the Balefyre grey economy, Nic would have learned of a couple of shops where he could procure poisons- if you'd like to spend some of his coin on that, it's an option.

Corros will just grouse about one set of armor being available.  ;)

Re: Tavern Talk (OOC)

Making offering to Arma before we go on this mad mercenary expedition probably would not be a bad idea.  Then let's get prettied up (for those of us who do clean up good) and go talk to the rich folk.

Hey, if any of you guys want to rewind to any scene between Overmark's office and the Vander estate, please feel free to do so.

...comes in handy for flashbacks.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Rae, can Jenna use her Insight Skill to see if she's getting any "vibes" from any of the Vander Family? (Especially the younger brother).

Sure, I'll roll for you and post the results (prolly after Corros and Ulfgar post).

@All: Do you have a preference for what season the campaign starts off in?

Nicolai Romanelli:
"I could have sworn that the point of organizing a caravan was strength in numbers," he remarks quietly to Jenna, "but perhaps I was mistaken.  Did any of the other guards hang back with us?

Rae, can you advise so Jenna can answer Nic's question? I can't see anything about it in the turn post.

Also, I don't know if I'll be able to get a post up tonight, but before we left the Vander house  was going to have Jenna ask Vim to give her a tour of the house after dinner so she could try and get him alone and ask him about the pirates and his relationship with his brother (I would have posted it but I didn't think we'd be moving on this turn).

The Five are the only guards with the last wagon.

I don't mind spending some more IG time at the Vander estate. Just separate then and now as Teg has done and I will post IC/IG responses the same.
