This game is set in an alternate universe of the Roman Empire. It is set during the Middle Imperial period at about 25 to 50AD. Our heroes are part of a Roman Garrison manning the thinly stretched limes fortifications that border Germania Superior. The game will not feature a significant amount of magic, but some will be present. Let's Get Started For this game you will need a few other items besides your normal character creation. You will be creating characters in a fixed setting that will need a background that matches with their setting - Roman Empire. Your group will be part of an Auxilia Infantry Centuria. As Auxilia, you will be provided with arms, armor and equipment. Step 1: Get an Idea for a character Shoot me a PM with your idea. It should include: Name: Race: (Humans dominate the world on the Roman side of the Limes with some Elves and Halflings) Gender: Class: (Standard Player's Handbook only - No exceptions. I am primarily looking for fighter type characters.) Character Outline: (Paragraph or two. Read the rest of this thread for direction on where the character could come from. Well thought out character ideas can bypass some of the random stuff below.) I will respond back and give you access to the game for you to follow the rest of the steps. To determine your character's stats, this game uses a point system. Total Points to buy your stats: 34. The values: Score Cost 8 0 9 1 10 2 11 3 12 4 13 5 14 6 15 8 16 10 17 13 18 16 This character sheet is a suggestion. In the same vein of helpfulness that this game was started in, as long as your sheet is in some sort of order like this, it is okay. Anyone that needs help, I would be more than happy to work with you. Also you can use the Hero Forge character creation tool availible here: http://heroforge.redmop.com/index.php?title=Main_Page. On the options tab, only select the Generic 3.5 D&D in the Campaign selection and no other options. Another useful tool is PCGen. It is availible from Source Forge. http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/01_overview.php The main advantage here is that you can export your character to a text file to paste into RPOL! I love this tool... so far. Cut and paste from below here after hitting quote. _______________________________________________________________________________ NAME: Gender: HD: Player: Height: Race : Weight: MAX HP: Class : Age : Level : Hair : SUBDUAL DMG: 00 Align : Eyes : Deity : Hand : XP: 1 Size : Medium Speed : NEXT LVL: 1,000 _______________________________________________________________________________ ABILITY Base Racial Level Inate Magic Final Roll Bonus Bonus Bonus Item Ability STR : 8 -- -- -- -- 8/+0 DEX : 8 -- -- -- -- 8/+0 CON : 8 -- -- -- -- 8/+0 INT : 8 -- -- -- -- 8/+0 WIS : 8 -- -- -- -- 8/+0 CHA : 8 -- -- -- -- 8/+0 _______________________________________________________________________________ COMBAT STATISTIC BASE ATTACK BONUS AC Total : 10 MELEE RANGED AC when Flat-Footed: 10 Total: +0 Total: +0 AC vs Touch Attack : 10 Base : +0 Base : +0 Base : +0 STR : +0 DEX : +0 Armor : +0 () Misc : +0 Misc : +0 Shield : +0 () Dexterity : +0 Dodge : +0 Size : +0 (M) INITIATIVE Deflection : +0 () Total: +0 Magical Armor bonus: +0 DEX : +0 Luck : +0 () Misc : +0 _______________________________________________________________________________ SAVING THROWS Total Base Ability Misc Magic Fort : +0 = +0 + 0 + 0 + 0 Refl : +0 = +0 + 0 + 0 + 0 Will : +0 = +0 + 0 + 0 + 0 _______________________________________________________________________________ RACIAL BONUS _______________________________________________________________________________ FEATS _______________________________________________________________________________ CLASS ABILITIES _______________________________________________________________________________ PRESTIGE CLASS ABILITIES _______________________________________________________________________________ LANGUAGES Common _______________________________________________________________________________ SKILLS Skill Point Total = 0 Class Skill Final Related Mod = Rnk Abl Msc | Skills: Ability Untrained? In an effort to give your character some more options in combat, I have stolen the following from another game I was once part of: Fighting Styles: The rules for Fighting Defensively and Total Defense are being made available for offense as follows: Fighting Defensively: is a Standard Action: You can choose to fight defensively when attacking. If you do so, you take a 4 penalty on all attacks in a round to gain a +2 dodge bonus to AC for the same round. Fighting Aggressively: is a Standard Action: You can choose to fight aggresively while defending. If you do so, you get a +2 Circumstance Bonus on all attacks in a round and a -4 Dodge bonus to AC for the same round. Total Defense: You can defend yourself as a full action. You get a +4 Dodge Bonus to your AC for 1 round. Your AC improves at the start of this action. You cant combine total defense with fighting defensively or with the benefit of the Combat Expertise feat (since both of those require you to declare an attack or full attack). You cant make attacks of opportunity while using total defense. Total Offense: You can neglect to defend yourself as a part of a Full Attack action. You get a +4 Circumstance Bonus to Attack for 1 round. Your AC decreases by 4 (a -4 Dodge Bonus) at the start of this action, you are flat-footed (lose all Dex/Dodge bonuses to AC), and you cannot actively use cover or concealment or make attacks of opportunity while using total offense (until your next action). Action Points As characters develop, they will have the opportunity to earn action points. Action points are non-renewable resources. At each point a character advances to a new level, they will receive action points that they can use when attempting to improve their attempts at a particular task. How they work: Lets say Decurion Quintus Maris has 4 action points. He wants to attack the lumbering Hill Giant that is shambling towards him. He declares that he will use an action point to hit the creature. He would roll in the dice roller his normal to hit roll but put in the comments that he is using an action point. Then roll an additional 1d6. The sum of the two rolls becomes the to hit roll. The same would be true to extend damage inflicted by a hit. The use must be declared prior to rolling (in the description in the die roller). Also when posting your die results, copy this to the post as well in the PM with the normal die rolls. Once a character has used all of their action points, they are gone. They are only renewed when a character gains a new level and only at the DM's discretion. They are rewards for good roleplay and for frequent posting. Posting Frequency I am looking to attempt to post three to four times a week. I would like for players to be able to post similarly. Alignment In this game, the Romans are supposed to be the good guys. But like in life, you find all kinds. Would prefer not to have someone who will end up as a party killer. | |||

If you are posting a conversation, please quote the words your character is saying and color them blue. Example: Perminimus shouted a warning to the centurion, "Look out for the trap!" If you are asking something out of character, please proceed the text on a separate line with 'OOC:' and color it green. Example: OOC:How far away does that running tribesman look to be? If you are whispering something to another player, please using the private line function unless you want everyone else to know what is said. |
