The Doombot that is currently the target of Wolverine's ire stumbles as if it is intoxicated, swaying to and fro, its hanging, exposed wires following. As the hero moves toward it, it dodges a rock falling from the impending avalanche above, and in eluding the debris, it sidesteps the mutant's attack. As it turns back and recovers, it unleashes a torrent of energy from its palm, going wide but then coming down to slice across Wolverine's body, opening deep gashes across the mutant hero's chest. "EMPXERKCOR DOOXKMKX... XCKNXCKXEXKXCKXAKCXCXKKRKCXXCKBSXZZYZZXZZZ" its voice modulation sputters before it devolves again into static.

Yellowjacket's size increases quickly and dramatically, and while he suddenly fills the space inside the embassy, the swarm of Doombots seem oblivious to any threat his size poses, though they look up at him with glowing eyes and energized, crackling hands, ready for such an easy target. As the science-hero realizes how cramped he is and how much his body is pressed against the interior of the building, threatening the avalanche of debris hovering overhead, only barely held off by sturdy construction, his enlarged face comes up straight toward the closed doors at the top of the stairs that She-Hulk demolished (with the help of the Doombots) and the "D" at their center, the letter in gold still gleaming amidst the damage the structure around it has taken.

Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

The lead Doombot is trashed even as Wolverine lifts it overhead, with the mutant's first slash at its wires, more than enough to turn out its lights and leave it as dead weight. However, as one Doombot falls, there is only another to replace it, as one breaks from the pack to turn its attention to the mutant hero. Though the hero shields himself from an onslaught of falling debris, only more is revealed behind it, an even graver avalanche in waiting.

Yellowjacket turns his gigantic form to digging into the floor underneath, but the effort leads to little. Once he diligently clears the debris from the area beneath and around him, even as what he piles nearby only slides back in place again, he breaks through the shining exterior of what was once a gleaming floor, only to find a massive material resistant to even his heightened strength. At the foot of the now-ruined stairs leading to the main chamber of the facility, the Doombots watch, energy quivering around them, the glow in their eyes seeming to ridicule the scientific Avenger as tries impotently to battle the floor.

As She-Hulk rises to force the metal bodies away from herself, only more add to the pile, pushing the jade giantess down again. It is only their sheer weight, not adding an offensive of force blasts, but it is enough for the Avenger in her weakened state. "DOOM." "DOOM." "DOOM." "DOOM." "DOOM." "DOOM," they chatter incessantly, in varying volumes, overlapping each other, a patchwork of noise, adding only to the clamor of this terror in the city downtown.

Bulldozer's attack steps Havok's physical stress to d12

Meanwhile, on the street, the top of Bulldozer's steel-plated helmet strikes Havok in the back, right in the spine. The mutant hero is sent in a wide arc, further damage inflicted when his face makes first contact with the pavement, the rest of his body following suit, the sounds of crunching bones rising above the noise of destruction in the intersection. He lies in a pile for a moment, with the war raging around him, until he rises to his feet, his upright body at a skewed angle since so many bones and organs inside him are crushed and broken, but he unfurls as straight as he can, awkwardly and inelegantly. The most powerful combatant on the street is left in a stupor, with danger closing in around him, a stolid look on his battered, swollen face, as if he never had an idea what to do next.

Blasting through the sky, Carol thought for a split-second that finding the motley group of Avengers and associates would be difficult. It's not.

She sees the smoldering remains of the toppled building with, she can hear the sirens of fire/rescue vehicles screaming from the concrete and steel canyons. From her vantage point in the sky, she can look toward the coast and see the construction cranes from their last time out in the field, "protecting" New York.

Carol sighs and arcs downward towards the destruction. This has got to stop.

As she gets closer to the ground, she sees two figures prone on the concrete, as well as several more figures, one running, one flying towards each unmoving hero as well as the one who looks responsible for the injuries in the first place. Giant plumes of dust and debris coming from near the embassy is obfuscating her vision around the rest of the area.

"Falcon, can you give me a sit-rep?"

Quickly judging her usefulness, she decides that since a flyer is heading for the Invisible Woman, her ability to fly might be needed to extricate Havok from this battlefield.

As Havok flies through the air away from him and as force-blasts rain down around him, Bulldozer puts his fists on his hips and rears back his head to guffaw.  "Haw haw! That'll teach you to mess with -- "

"Bulldozer, you numbskull!," the Wrecker barks, in between hoisting a car at the Doombots, who give it a wide, easy berth. "We got bigger problems than you gettin' back at a mutie!"

"I told you to not call me that!," Bulldozer says, not quite a yell in return, his stance deflating.

"Then don't act like it!  Now hurry up and help us throw stuff!" The Wrecker looks around for the next thing to toss, not finding much he has not already, just debris of objects that have come back shrunken and broken after he threw them at the robots initially. "Hey, where's --," he starts, but gets no response. He looks around himself, then to Piledriver, who shrugs. "Arrrgggh!"  Wrecker screams into the sky. "Now we definitely ain't gettin' paid!"

Meanwhile, Havok is able to fend off the Doombots, who seem to disregard him anyway. The mutant hero keeps up a shield to reflect indirect blasts until he disappears into a demolished building, out of sight.

Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

"I'll do my best!" the Falcon yells to Iron Fist, just over the clamor of widespread destruction, either not hearing the martial artist or heading to the closer of their two objectives, toward the original when the new one disappears into what is left of a nearby building. The winged hero ducks and dodges and evades and swerves around the force blasts but it’s clear that his mobility is impaired. How he moved around the fleet of Doombots just moments ago is a stark difference to what he does now. The added weight is not only bearing him down but also compensating for the extra person hanging off of him is hindering his full movement. While flying to another location was task enough, getting around the force blasts and the androids themselves toward the prone Invisible Woman is a whole other endeavor entirely.  He is able to avoid the deadly blasts just enough, some getting within a short hair’s distance, but it is a great perilto even get close.

“This might be" -- interrupted by just barely dodging a blast headed straight toward them -- "as close as I can get!”  As the Falcon and Iron Fist draw closer to the downed heroine, the greatest force blast of them all rips open in front of them, smashing into the asphalt in front of the two heroes and blasting open a gigantic, seething crater. A plume of smoke rises from it, obscuring the environment around the heroes but also hiding them from the Doombots for the moment. Unfortunately, the smoke is blinding and the Invisible Woman is as invisible to them as she is when using her powers. She could be anywhere, and in no less danger. Surrounded in smoke, Iron Fist puts Iron Fist down on the disrupted asphalt, rubs his wrists, then looks around.

Just then, through the haze comes a figure, a big, bulky man who, while walking toward the heroes, reveals himself to be Thunderball, their too-recent foe, his face and body scarred and dirty from combat, and holding a body in his meaty arms, that of the Invisible Woman herself, also bruised and filthy, but, it could distantly be perceived, to be breathing. The powerhouse steps toward the heroes but his direction takes him past them. “If you can take care of this whole mess,” his eyes roll around toward their environment, “Then I can take care of her.” He looks back briefly as he strides past them. "We never meant any trouble." Then turns back to step through the fog, as if the two heroes will not launch an new offensive against him, and disappears into the smoke on the opposite side.

As the smoke starts to clear, the Falcon looks at Iron Fist then toward the sky as the Doombots set their sights on them once more.

Carol drops like a missle straight down to Iron Fist and the Falcon, narrowly avoiding Doombots as she descends to the street.

Landing with a slight blazing noise, she watches as Thunderball strides off with the Invisible Woman. She turns to Falcon with a puzzled look. Falcon shakes his head and raises his hand making it understood that Invisible Woman is in good hands, surprisingly enough.

But now she's more worried by the army of Doombots that are amassing above them. She can feel their infrared scanning wavelength as they take her measure. But these things are just shells of wire and programming. This amount of Doombots working in tandem also means that they're being coordinated by something--or SOMEONE else.

"Falcon. 'Fist." She looks up at the Doombots as they hover towards the trio, a rising tension as they seem to be power cycling up as a response to whatever biometrics they got from their scan, This big of a group can't be running off of independent programming. There has to be someone behind this, and I'm betting whoever is running these things is right in there." She points right at the Latverian embassy.

Iron Fist, if you let Falcon carry you, I'll be right behind you guys and provide cover fire! But we need to shut the brain of the Doombots down before they destroy the rest of the city!"
