Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

Iron Fist leaps back a few feet while keeping his eyes on his foe.  He knows the Doombots are out of bounds and are supposed to stay within the walls of the Latverian Embassy. But these are Doom's goons. He knows no law higher than himself, and probably instructs his automatons the same. Still, he wouldn't want an international incident on his head. So he contacts the Black Widow through his communication ear piece.

Hey, this is Iron Fist. Doombots are floating around us telling us to stand down. What do you want me to do?"

OOC: Next action- Wolverine (?)

Logan snarled at the 'ambassador'. "You heard the lady, junkpile. Start with the diplomacy-or I start with mine..." His claws are at the ready, and he moves between Jen and the Doombot. Of course-in Jen's case Logan is a very poor human shield. She easily towers over him.

Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

Piledriver got to his feet and blinked furiously. "Oh, lordy!" he cries. "I -- I c'n see again! I c'n see again!" He looks around, hoping his compatriots would join in his joy. When they don't, he follows their gazes to the sky barely containing the swarm of hovering Doombots. "Oh... no," Piledriver utters, his face drawing as slack as his teammates'.

From msg #83:
Since you're trying to convince the Doombots, it would be a mental (not psionic) attack on the Mob (not individual Doombot).

Adding Flight to your dice pool is a bit too far to stretch but I'll add it to my reaction pool as well to even it out.

If I haven't noted it before: When attacking the Doombot Mob (whether physically or mentally), there is no limit to how many PPs that can be earned from Opportunities. (This applies only to the Doombot Mob(s), not individual Doombot(s), and there is still a maximum of 5 PPs that any hero can have at one time.)

Defending Invisible Woman's mental attack, Total: 21, Effect: d10:
Team    3d8
Built to Defend Latveria’s Interests    d8

Doombot Mob rolled 2,5,5,1,8,2 using d8,d8,d8,d8,d8,d8 ((2,5,5,1,8,2)).

Extraordinary Success steps acting Effect die to d12

1 Doombot removed from Mob

Doom Pool: 2d6, 3d8 -d8 = 2d6, 2d8

The squadron of Doombots makes no reaction, but whether a positive or negative outcome, it is difficult to surmise how or even if they would have reacted either way. They continue to hover in the air, energy maintaining the crackling from their outstretched hands, but a new calmness seems to come over the area, as if their stillness implies that they could be calculating another move while considering the Invisible Woman's words.

Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

From msg #84:
The note to feel free to post minor actions was for activities that would not be an actual action (like changing the direction of your attention, physically moving around the scene,
setting up your next action, etc.), descriptions that add life to the story but not affecting any technical aspects. Generally, if it doesn't require a dice pool and doesn't derail the story, you're probably free to do it. It would not be an official action, so it would not require a pick for Next Action.  This note was nothing new -- you're always welcome to make any of these posts (if not encouraged), as well as posting dialogue and interpersonal interaction even if it's out of turn. It was a stopgap measure to keep the story going in case there was not a Watcher post for a while (though that situation didn't last as long as I thought it might).

Iron Fist: Since that was not a full turn, you are welcome to take one now (and include a dice pool for an action). Since you picked Wolverine and he has already gone, She-Hulk can pick the Next Action.

No one has any communication ear pieces as part of the story, so you get no reply.

The Doombot, also towering over the diminutive hero, appears unconcerned with where Wolverine chooses to stand but stays stock-still, strong and upright. The eye-holes in its metal mask hold a dark, static void.

"You asked for the 'ambassador,' sir," the receptionist chirps. "That is not the ambassador." Her perfect smile holds steady, though it could now be interpreted as begrudging tolerance.

Re: The Amazing Avengers #2: "...The Twilight's Final Gleaming"

She-hulk puts a hand on Logan's shoulder. She whispers in his ear, "Thanks for the assist. It'll be ok. It'll help if you put your claws away." trying to calm him down.

Taking up her carefully practiced courtroom demeanor, She-hulk turns back to the receptionist. It was tough to form complete sentences with her head still ringing from Thunderball's smackdown. "Sorry about my bodyguard here. He's a bit punchy right now. I thought this was the Latverian embassy... usually embassies house ambassadors. If he's out, then we can return later. Sorry for the intrusion."

Honestly, She-hulk just wanted to get out of there without any further conflict. She didn't REALLY want to talk to the ambassador, but it seemed like as good a cover story as anything.

Not really sure what mechanical effect I'm going for here. Maybe an asset creation, maybe taking a die out of the doom pool... I'll let Watcher decide whatever the most appropriate thing is for trying to back out of the embassy without any further conflict. Dice pool would be the same...

Bulldozer wrestles with Daredevil's swingline wrapped tight and manages to break some of it, loosening it just a touch.

"You creepy devil man!" He cries, struggling against the line, snapping more of it. "When I get unwrapped from this" -- pulling here -- "I'm gonna" -- pushing there -- "Wrap my hands around your throat!"

His is largely the only movement in the intersection, the Doombots holding fast in their hovering pattern.

OOC: Okay, I'll do that then.  I don't think attacking anyone is a good idea, so I'll let the bad guys attack first.  But this gives me an idea!  It's not likely to work, but I got nothing to lose by trying this!

Iron Fist looks up at the Doombots in the sky, and then down at the four supervillains hellbent on ruining everyone's day.  He gets a crazy idea, that just might work.

"Doombots!  You are in violation of your agreement to stay inside your embassy for security, That's gonna be a big problem!

BUT, if you can assist us with subduing these four wanted criminals: Bulldozer, Piledriver, Wrecker, and Thunderball, (Iron Fist points to each of them) the state might overlook that breach of contract!"

Action: Convince the Doombots (or whoever is controlling them) to help stop the criminals.
Dice Pool:
Team: d6, Indifferent Billionaire: d8, Psych Expert: d8 (to persuade using positive reinforcement), OR Business Expert: d8 (If I'm siting the agreement between Latveria and the U.S. to persuade, but not both.  Whichever fits best)

But the point is that your flagrant attack on the Wreckers has damaged Latverian territory. My employer Mr Pym has asked me to leave his contact information for he wishes to consult with Latveria's supreme scientist on how to avoid future Ultron like incidents."

A pair of wasps fly in carrying between them a small USB stick, "This is of course a sideline to todays events. But the opportunity to drop off the contact information without being considered a hostile incursion when unannounced isn't one I can ignore."

Surrender? Havok has no intention of surrendering. If there's a fight, he'll fight...but the damage to the Latverian embassy certainly seems like an attack from a certain perspective, and a battle with the Doombots could be catastrophic. Best to try diplomacy.

Looking up to the Doombot who addressed him, Havok continues to plead their case: "Doombot XZ-6UNR840, these four criminals", pointing at The Wrecking Crew, "are in violation of their parole agreements, and posed a significant risk to the local citizenry. As my colleague pointed out, we are attempting to apprehend them. You, and the other doombots, are outside of Latverian airspace, which is a violation of Latveria's treaty with The United States. Will you withdraw and return to Latverian airspace peacefully?"

Mental attack on Doombot XZ-6UNR840

Please end your post with your current tally of PPs. Iron Fist, I believe you are at 2 (unchanged since msg #76).

For now, convincing an opponent to change their mind and help your side will require a mental attack and stressing them out to get them out to change course. In this case, the Team dice would have to be overcome to convince the entire Mob.

The Doombot at the head of the group stays consistent with the others: no reaction. Seen from the street, its eyes, like its compatriots, are hollow and unfeeling, with no connection to any stimulus around it, but a focus that, deduced from the direction they are all facing, is on the super-powered beings grouped on the street.

A new heat, one that rivals that cast from the unrelenting sun overhead, seems to rise from the asphalt, vibrating subtly  as it moves upward into the sky and among the lingering robots. This surely is only a perceived affect, but still, hairs on necks rise and a slight, cold sweat is a sudden if insignificant relief from the temperature and the anticipation of what is about to happen.

Thunderball's face twists to a scowl again and his shoulders straighten. His lips pull back in a snarl and he swings his wrecking ball in a wide circle, gathering enough momentum that it becomes the loudest sound in the air until he speaks. "If none of you are going to do anything about it," he barks, "Then I will!" And lets go of his weapon, which shoots into the sky and the midst of the fleet of Doombots.

If his target was the main Doombot, he misses wide. But the area is choked with enough automatons that when it does not get one, it gets another. The ball strikes one in the back and it explodes, sending out a shockwave great enough to rattle the ones around it. They move back into formation easily enough as metal parts rain to the ground.
