Welcome! I'm That Old Fossil and the GM for this game (you may know may elsewhere as RPO SteamDragon).  This is the default thread for this game forum.  If you don't know where to read or post in this forum, go here first.

This is also the OOC (Out-Of-Character) thread for the game's players.  Visitors are welcome to read and comment as well.  Player character submissions are always gratefully accepted but I cannot always guarantee the game will be looking for new players.

Adventure I

FULL THROTTLE

It is a period of civil war.
A new hope of Rebellion has
spread across the Galaxy with
the destruction of the DEATH STAR.
But everyone dreads that the Evil Galactic
Empire will soon strike back!  Deep in Imperial
space, a small ship and her crew fight against the
Empire.  Are they Rebels or simply scoundrels with heart?


The odds seem impossible against the heroic crew but the
Force is strong with them.  Even that may not  be enough to save them....

I would like to welcome you to a Star Wars adventure set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back.  Your character is part of the crew of a space freighter hunted by the Empire while deep in Imperial space.  Depending on party wishes, the crew are either undercover Rebel agents or scoundrels falling for some damn fool idealistic crusade.  Either way, the Force is strong with them and the Empire wants them turned or dead.

The rules system for this game will one of the many incarnations of the D6 system developed for West End Games.  I can't say for sure which until I know more about my players.  But any version of these rules are simple, elegant, intuitive and thus fast.  You do not need to know the rules to start playing.  This game is a whiz-bang adventure with Good Guys fighting Bad Guys and every old Space Opera trope quite welcome.

I am offering only a single adventure to start with.  The game will likely start around January 1st.  I apologize for the slow burn before Full Throttle but I want to take the time and get this game right.  If the game takes off, I may offer sequels.  If not, I will give the game to my players.  I will keep this notice up for one week.  If I get two players, the game is a go.

You must do what you think is right, of course.  But, remember, the Force will be with you, always!

And by that I mean that we have (easily) surpassed the two player threshold needed to continue with this game.  So we are GO!

At this writing, I have had a generous amount of player applications.  All of them are quite promising and I intend to approve all of you for the game.  I am still very new to how forums work on RPoL but I will try and get you all added to this game as far as the system is concerned.  If you are not an official member by this time tomorrow, let me know in any way you can.

I will reply to your introductory private messages (which were necessary for you to apply) but, when you are able to post, please post a Howdy in this thread.  Your Howdy post can be as brief as letting us know your character's name.  Or you can talk about Star Wars in general or just about anything.  Off-topic is what the OOC thread is all about.

The faster we can all talk together rather than just having me cycle through private messages, the better.  The game will move faster and clearer for it.

Some observations so far:
*  All of the characters so far have the seeds of heroism within them.  They are loyal to an ideal or at least their comrades.  This helps the game immensely.
*  As a whole, the party so far contains an alien, a droid and a Jedi amongst their members.  This means the party is a Star Wars sampler even before I add NPCs.  So I can add less NPCs and focus on the players.
*  Some characters are actively wanting to be members of the Rebellion and the rest are decent folk looking for something better.  I think the Empire better get their act together quick.  You guys have.
*  A LOT of players have applied to this game.  Past a certain point, I may have the unpleasant task of culling some players.  It will hurt, too, there are no unsuitable players, just differing degrees of fantastic.  However, I don't think we are quite at that point yet.  And I think my approaches to a game will allow more players than your average game.  More on this later.

OK, your Howdy posts can follow this reply.  As an ice-breaker, I will ask you what is the one thing you would change about the Star Wars setting (for myself:  I would like to seen Jedis marry, but then I suppose a whole bunch of kids wishing you into the asteroid field would have been problematic)?  This is a completely optional question.  Ignore it if you want.

I wish to clarify one of my earlier statements.

When I said that you must read what I write (in the player thread), that only concerns matters regarding the game itself.  Anything else, humorous asides, Star Wars discussion in general, and off-topic thoughts are completely optional.  If there is a borderline instance, I will try and make it clear in the text.
