Re: Vampire prequel

Kuroko:
In reply to Qin'ai da Wangzi (msg # 286):

"Well then, let us begin."

He opens his mouth and now there are large vicious fangs where his canites were. In a moment he's gone and you feel a sharp pain in your neck. Even as this happens, a feeling of supreme bliss washes over you and you can't bring yourself to leave. You feel your consciousness fading as your lifeforce drains from your body.

"What the fuck he a vampire. Oh shit he going to kill me. Oh no oh no oh nooo….ahh," Al thoughts trailed off in a moan of pleasure.

quote:
As you begin to recover,

Al was confused about what had just happened he was sure he had just died, why was he not dead. Even before he had opened his eyes he knew that everything had changed. His senses were so much sharper.  He could feel the pressure of the holster of his gun against his side, the weight of his BOC M7 Us issue fighting knife nestled against his hip.  The rug smelled like old cigarettes, mold, mildew and other substances that were better left unidentified. There was the scent of urine in the air and Al hoped furiously that he had not just wet himself. His mouth was filled with the taste of blood. He could hear the soft drone of a laugh track playing on some comedy show. the skittering of the cockroach he had seen earlier. Somewhat closer he could hear a conversation ongoing.,

quote:
"So, did you get it? The legendary sword of Nul," you hear John say.
"Ha, ha, as if. Some people don't keep up with current events, I say. It's obviously a forgery." The voice of a foreigner. Possibly French or Italian.
"A good one, though, and undoubtedly magic. I would have paid a handsome price for it if I didn't get that discount. Oh, wait, I think your childe is coming to. Did you remember to get something for him to eat?"

Al was not certain what had happened but something John had said earlier resurfaced in his mind....full membership in my group.  He was pretty sure the child reference was about himself. So it seemed he was now a new boot, recruit, a child in a group of vampires? Al had a lot of questions but his training in the military and his early days in the Pagan's let him know exactly what he place was. That place was at the bottom rung of the ladder and those there never interrupted those above you when they were talking.

quote:
You open your eyes to see both John and another man. He's of slight build and is inspecting what looks like a bronze sword.

"Welcome to the Sabbat, child. Are you ready for your first hunt? We are hunting blood mage."

Al pushed himself up to one knee he glanced at John and felt a strong sense of loyalty to the man, that had not been there earlier. Al also felt a hunger he had never felt in his life before. He now knew what it felt like to be starving. Al felt the stirring of the creature that he had know all his life but never before had a name, until John gave it the title of beast. He could feel it down in the pit of his stomach. The Beast was a raging black pit of fear, anger, and ravenousness need. While before in the past it had always pressed him into violence now it howled in hunger for blood. Al had never felt such hunger before he was not sure if he could stand it, but years of military training kicked in. When you were given order to march, you march and it did not matter what your personal concerns were.

Gathering his will (spent 1 wp) Al pushed hard against the beast and mentally told it to shut the fuck up.

"Sabbat? Hunt? Blood Mage? more questions," Al thought but he struggled to his feet as instinct kicked in he subconsciously snapped to attention.  Al did not have the energy to wear the mask he usually hide behind. For that moment his true nature was uncovered and who he really was, was laid bare to the world. His nature was that of a soldier ready to follow orders no matter how much pain it brought him.

"Good to go," he said and although it had not been vocalized there was a very clear impression of the word sir at the end of that statement.

ooc how many blood points does he have right now.

Kuroko:
"Actually, there was a group of ghouls here earlier. They kept going on about how I'll regret it if I embraced Al here. One of them is tied up in bathroom. Al, eat your fill and then meet up with us outside."

Inside the bathroom is a teenage girl tied to the shower head.

Closing and locking the door behind him Al walked over and turn the cold water on full force until the girl started to struggle showing that she was awake.

"So bitch I hear you got a beef against me, and I'm real curious to hear what it is, " he said as he sat on the john one foot resting on the tub.

"A vampire. He said if we should keep an eye on you and make sure nobody tried anything. Heh, we even brought a flamethrower around in our car just in case.  We thought we could take on anyone. But you know what he did? He pointed to it and it leaped out of our hands. I tried to drive away and he outran the car.

"Does this vampire have a name," Al asked wondering why two vampires were so interested in him.

"Master. When he wanted something he would call me. I didn't need to know his name," replied the girl as if that made all the sense in the world.

Al gave a small shrug took his foot down from the tub, "Well thanks for the 411. I think we are about done here and there only one thing left I need from you.

Al knew what he wanted to do but he was like a kitten that had just caught his first mouse he had no idea of how he was to go about doing it. The fact that the girl looked like some sad dejected puppy did not help things any.

"If only she would do something, fight back, struggle, cry anything but stare at me," thought Al then back handed her in the face as hard as he could in frustration.

The girls head hit the back of the shower hard, making a sick crunching sound. Blood began to soak her dirty blonde hair awaking The Beast and suddenly everything became easy.

A few moments later Al was leaving the hotel casually wiping his mouth as he went to meet with John and the foreigner.

Kicking his bike into gear Al drove around to the front to meet the two men. One he knew as John the other who had not as of yet identified himself.

Pointing back to the hotel with his thumb he gave a little smirk and asked, "So which one of yah two gents pulled the Jedi mind trick shit with the flame thrower or was that bitch just crazy?"

[insert reply here]

Al shook his head, "Yah shattin me right? Next you'll be tellin me that witches, werewolves and those silly stone monsters from the Saturday morning cartoon show are real. And somewhere there is a van of teenagers making a 7-11 run to buy snacks for their talking dog."

"So we are going to California after this? I might not seem like it, but I do enjoy a movie now and again."
"Oh, really, what do you know about movies," asked John.
"You would be surprised. I'm looking forward to that French thriller that's coming out. Léon, I think it's called. Did I ever tell you I grew up in France?"
"And in Italy. Yes, you told me."
"Don't remind me of Italy. God save us from the Camerilla and the traitor prince."

"So which one of yah two gents pulled the Jedi mind trick shit with the flame thrower or was that bitch just crazy?"

"We are going up against a mage tonight. I know a little bit of magic myself, you know. That's how I pulled that little parlor trick. You would be surprised what you can learn when you are in a group like ours."

Al shook his head, "Yah shattin me right? Next you'll be tellin me that witches, werewolves and those silly stone monsters from the Saturday morning cartoon show are real. And somewhere there is a van of teenagers making a 7-11 run to buy snacks for their talking dog."

"Werewolves are real, and the are worse than the TV shows make them out to be. They act like any kid with a bb gun can take down a shifter. Yeah, right. If you even hear a wolf howl, make your way to the nearest city as fast as you can."

"That makes perfect sense I can not imagine any monster being as easy to kill as the movie industry makes them out to be. Watch any recent vampire movie and you believe that all you have to do is poke them with a stake and they explode into dust. Makes one wonder how much of the myths and legends are false. Sounds like a good conversation for a night when we got more time."

Al thought for a moment shifting around he pulled out an axe and rested on his legs, "You said we going up against a blood mage? I must admit I know less that nothing about magic but if my experience fighting  has taught me anything I imagine it be very difficult to cast a spell with someone waving this in your face," Al said as he patted the axe on his lap.

"So anything you think I should know before we head off?"

If I gave you what I want using Changeling rules, could you convert it over to the Exalted rules? I'm still shaky when it comes to that system.

Basic backstory is someone who was teleported from WoD after succumbing to banality and ended up in this world through some plot contrivance. Mostly forgot everything from the old world or his true nature.

Ideas for the Dragon Blooded Game:

Character: Player Name: Adrian Calum. Character name: Meadowlark
Wood Aspect with focus on healing and survival. Mantis Stylist. Strongly against player killing and when fighting another player goes for disabling moves. Chose the Forest Witch Background because he didn't read it and assumed it was like druid

Setting Ideas
Guild Hall: When each Guild is formed it receives a free Guild Hall. This is a small wooden building with little ore than beds and a meeting table. But Guild Members can funnel experience into it to improve it, like a Mutants and Masterminds Headquarters. Things like special outfits or adornments for guild members can also be bought.

Martial Arts Scroll: These items can be used to learn various martial Arts Style. Characters with the Martial Arts merit can start play with one (chosen from a list available to starting characters, not all Martial Arts are). Other than Character Creation Scroll can be traded for or earned on certain quests. Having a Scroll in you possession lets you learn the Martial Art and train someone else, even if you haven't mastered it yet. Once you've mastered a style, you no longer need the Scroll item to teach it.  Some Guild will insist on members who have Mastered a style to donate the scroll to the Guild's Treasury for others to learn from it

Raiders: Not in what one would consider the traditional sense, Raiders are players who join a Guild, gain access to it's treasury, then split with the loot. Some are content with a quick snatch and grab of low level stuff, others play the long game till they have access to the best the Guild has to offer. The wise Raider only pulls this once, then either sticks to soloing or joins another Guild earnestly,  thus giving them some plausible deniability that their separating from their former Guild was due to an internal issue and not a con. Repeat Raider tend to have their username and descriptions bandied about and thus not only finding Guilds are now unwilling to grant them membership, but also the target of a bounty.

Some Guilds I thought up

Justiciars

Guild Master: Tepet Cheval (Air Aspect, Dynast Background)
Lieutenant:  Secret Mists (Water Aspect, Outcaste Background)

The Justiciars have on of the most secure Guild Halls in the game. But it's not to keep people out but rather to keep people in. The Justiciar Guild Hall, Lament of Lost Innocence, is a prison. The Justiciar Guild is dedicated not to beating the game, but to rounding up and containing the Player Killers, thus protecting the citizens trapped in the Realm. The Justiciars have a strict no-killing policy, focusing only on incapacitating their targets before incarcerating them

Cheval won a contest before the game started and got to design a custom weapon. Being a huge cowboy movie buff, he made a blue Jade-spun lasso called 'Silver Cloud' that has now become the symbol of the Justiciars. Though there are some challengers who try to claim it as a Named Weapon,  there's less attention than there would be as it's made to be specifically non-lethal. Cheval would like to make the Justiciars into true lawmen rather than just  going after would be murderers, but accpets that trying to enforce order would spread his people too thin.

((Meadowlark may have Cheval as an ally, due to sharing the same ideas and being willing to accompany Justiciar hunts as a healer))

Crimson Cowls

Guild Master:  Seven Gods Burning Mandala (Fire Aspect, Seventh Legion Background)
Lieutenant:  Adder John. (Aspect Unknown, Dynast Background)

On the surface the Crimson Cowls have the same objective as the Justiciars, making sure Player Killers are no longer a threat. But that's where the similarities end. The Crimson Cowls stop them from being a threat by removing them from the game permanently. (If you kill a killer, there are the same amount of killers, but if you kill a hundred killers-) . Guild members are identified by a red hood and mirror mask, so the last thing their targets see before death is their own face.

Mandala is a charismatic and vocal leader, often her preaching the evil of player killers and how the only way people are safe is if they're been taken out and justice needing to be done. Adder John, on the other hand, stays so hidden and out of sight people are still debating his aspect (wind and wood are the most common, due to his use of poisons and  chakrams). He's one of the best assassins in game, and not a few people are afraid to bad mouth the Crimson Cowls, lest Adder John be listening in.

VR game

Webcraft was left out due to a printing error, so here is it:

Webcraft
The force of conformity and stasis is the force of the Weaver. Lacking empathy for creativity, the forces of the Weaver bind reality in her lifeless dehumanizing web. When using this power, the character must roll Intelligence + Science.

Weave Web
The caster can make a substance stronger. He has focused his attention so thoroughly upon the substance that its mundanity is enhanced. For each success, the substance
will either inflict an additional Health Level (if it can be brandished as a weapon) or gain an extra Health Level (if it cannot). The duration is one session. "Crushing mundanity" takes on a whole new meaning.

Overwhelming Wincing
The caster becomes painfully dull, and can cause one target nearby to lose one Health Level from wincing and an overwhelming headache. For each additional success, the
caster can affect one additional target. This is particularly effective in board room meetings.

Warp Will
The caster's activity is puts those around them through a purgatory of boredom. For each success, the caster reduces the temporary Willpower or Glamour of each person around him by one. This may be used once per session.

Wend Your Way
The caster overcomplicates any one process so much that others cannot figure out precisely what he is doing. Anyone who studies what the individual is doing becomes so
easily distracted by more fascinating things (like trees and rocks) increases his difficulty of each roll by one for each success on the Tedium (up to a maximum of +3). For instance, this can affect Tracking and Investigation rolls.

Cry "Woof"
The caster will summon a Weaver spirit. The entity level of power of the spirit depends on the number of success attained. For more details on Weaver spirits, see Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Second Edition or Mage: The Ascension, Second Edition. Examples include Paradox Spirits of the Mind Sphere, Pattern Spiders and Nexus Crawlers. This is extremely dangerous, and shows the inherently destructive nature of following stasis.

Vampire Game- My thoughts

I am writing this here and in discords so that Brian and Cat can see it.

After listening to Brian talk about Kennedy and trying to hash out what went wrong I thought about it most of the night and I realized the problem is not as simple as I first thought.
The problem is not only have we split into two groups that have no reason to work together those two groups are actually playing in two different chronicles and themes.

The two chronicles are Vigilante Vampires set in a very dark Gotham City Chronicle super hero theme. The second is L.A. nights the Gehenna Chronicles where the players are very traditional vampires straight from the core rule book.

The first thing we need to decide as a group is which Chronicle do we want to play in. We then have to create character and a story that fits the theme of those characters.

If we decide to play in the traditional setting I see a way for a group of Sabbat and Anarchs to work together.
1.We need to rewind how the character meet. First instead of a mass embrace those players would have a more traditional embrace. A Camarilla vampire not only embraced you but also blood bound you to him. He chains you up in a cell and may even torture you.

2. The Sabbat character are in California undercover as a advance force gathering information on the state of California and if it ripe for a war to gain control of it for the Sabbat.

3. They learn of the newly embraced blood bounded Camarilla vampires and the Anarch faction set out to rescue them. When the group is alone the Sabbat pcs suggest they know a rite very similar to the roman catholic communion that would not only break the bond but make it impossible for any vampire to ever bind the newly rescued vampire pcs again.

4. The second options is that the players who made more traditional vampires create vigilante types and we move the chronicle to a more Gotham City themed setting were we ALL are super hero vigilantes out to save the world from evil masterminds.

5. The thirds option is we do not play vampire we move Joey Thursday game to Saturday and we have every other Thursday off or Mike start to run his spy game then.
These are just my initial thoughts I think it give us a starting point to start for our talk on Thursday.

I've looked, but I'm not finding anything specific, in either book.  While I could see how the Garou could be resistant to it, if you wanted (likely due to Rage), there doesn't seem to be a specific rule in place.
