Solar EXP for Posts

I will be capping Solar EXP to +6 per session (total).  This includes the potential +4 from sessions and posts on the board.

I might revise this number in the future, depending on how things play out.

Exalted Name Generator

Here is a name generator that I found for non-Dynast Exalted.  I'll probably be abusing it myself, but you all might find it useful, too.

Exalted Name Generator

In-game mechanics will function as normal.  I was thinking for purposes of the +4 that it is possible to get just on the normal EXP rules.

This has no bearing at all on crafted XP.

The Diminishing return on  repetive stunts

• The action cannot be boring. This is not meant to act as a harsh quality bar players must strive to jump over—mostly it means repetitive stunts stop qualifying as stunts, as they’re no longer entertaining. This also means any stunt so long and overwrought that it bores rather than excites isn’t a stunt.

So this begs to question when does a stunt become repetitive? If I describe my  character as hoisting the Exigent into the air and slamming him down through the table with a ringing crash. Would the second time I hoist someone in the air and throw them through a table would it no longer qualify as a stunt or would it take 4 or 5 to no longer qualify. Would changing it so he thrown through a door rather then into a table qualify it as not repetitive?

Would a 2point stunt hold it entertainment value even longer then a 1pt and a 3pt longer then a two. So I had this thought and would like to have the group discuss it.
How about this table for repeating a stunt:

1pt stunt
1st time: 2 extra dice,Exceptional stunts on static value applications raise the static value by 1.
2nd time: 1 extra dice. Exceptional stunts on static value applications raise the static value by 0 (1?). [Not sure if a .5 would make any difference]
3rd time: no longer qualifies as a stunt

2pt Stunt
1st time: 2 extra dice and one automatic success. Exceptional stunts on static value applications raise the static value by 2.
Character gains 1 point of will power up to her maximum permanent will power.
2nd time: 1 extra dice, no automatic success. Exceptional stunts on static value applications raise the static value by 1.
3rd time: no longer qualifies as a stunt

3pt Stunt
1st time: 2 extra dice and two automatic success. Three-point stunts on static value applications raise the static value by 3.
Character gains 2 points of will power which may take her above her permanent will power.
2nd time: 1 extra dice and one automatic success. Exceptional stunts on static value applications raise the static value by 2.
Character gains 1 points of will power which may take her above her permanent will power.
3rd time: no longer qualifies as a stunt

A riddle

One of the npc I need for my back story is a mysterious person. Sometimes she appears as a traveling Gypsy fortuneteller. Others as a old traveling herbalist. Sometimes she a he and sometime he a she.

When Qin'ai was a young boy he was given a riddle by his mother's counselor who was teaching him to read and write.

The old man gave the boy a riddle, "If you ever meet no one you should ask him what path you should take."

It stuck me that this would be one way the group could get together. Sometime in the past each of the pc were given that riddle.

Year later on a important day in their life they meet a very old person whose name is Mei'ren  which means no one.

If they ask the question his or her answer will lead the pcs to meet up with one or more members of the group.

A riddle

To answer the first question concerning stunting:  It stops being a stunt when it becomes boring and stops being entertaining.  It's kind of subjective, unfortunately.  It's also something we really haven't really had any issues with in the past (as that same rule has always been there).

As to the second, you'll have to ask the rest of the group how they feel about the stranger with the riddle, since that's a group backstory/decision thing, though Mei'ren might work really well as the name of the caravan driver...

A riddle

I'm cool with the riddle, though I warn you Steelthorn will misinterpret it as 'ask no one the path you should take' ie, Make your own.

That is a very reasonable interpretation.

So now imagine this.
The village has been attack in the aftermath an old herb man arrives and offer to assist you getting back on your feet. He a very strange old man.

Mei'ren physical appearance is that of a fraile old man. His face is wrinkled and his long flowing hair is as white as a cloud on a summer day. His hands are wrinkled and spotted and although his back is bent he moves with the speed and grace of a man in his prime.

There is something about his deep brown eyes that pierce your very soul finding all the secrets that you even hide from yourself. His smile on the other hand is friendly like a beloved grandfather.

He tell you that his name is Mei'ren which in the common tongue of the land means No One.

So what do you do? Do you tell him about the riddle? your interpretation of it? Would you listen to his advice and follow it?

Brian: Mei'ren does not strike me as the caravan driver type but I did think of someone who may be fun to have in that position how about Covetous Shen?
