OOC Thread #2
In reply to Iris (msg # 50):

It used to be easier back when you could get a cool million nuyen in character gen.

OOC Thread #2
Um, second hand stuff is ICKY!  Why would I want something in my body that someone else had in theirs?  Besides, I am pretty sure my car is the single most expensive piece of gear I have.  And I do have a connection to buy drones, just don't have the money to do so right now....lol.

Good grief, so excited about the game starting again and no one is chatting now. lol

Are we still starting in Boston ? If so, Iris, you might want to adjust your knowledge skills :)

Oh plahlease, they wash it first.   Sometimes they even throw in some detergent to break up the onion juice scum at the bottom of the sink.

I had to remember what the game and character was! But I've missed shadowrun, so if we're rebooting, I;d be game, depending on what types of characters people wanted to make.

Re: OOC Thread #2
If we're okay with lifepath chargen, I've got someone that's about 60% finished who will work as a Face. I'm even being good and staying away from adepts.

Painted Man, if you want to swap spots with me and build a "muscle" character, that might be fun?

Re: OOC Thread #2
Just to make a list of what we have so far (previously we had 2 groups)

Sleight: Full Mage-Shaman (High Charisma)
Iris: Vehicle Rigger
Catchy: Mystic Adept of Thievery and no combat abilities?
Bean: Street Sam or Face
Keys: Awakened something or another
Tiger Lily: Street Same with foot speed.

Let me know anything you want to add or subtract or just repost it with what you want.

I was going to play a rigger, but I'm not married to that. I am new to the system. Does anyone have any ideas for a simple character type?

Meatshield Troll with lots of Body, Armor, some strength with a big ax, a riot shield and some other guns for long ranged stuff. Make sure he has a Helmet and some Arthoskin and maybe Plastic or Kevlar Bone Lacing......

Lorex, if you want to play a rigger you can too.  Iris is specifically devoted to Ground Vehicles.

Re: OOC Thread #2
Rigging is IMO one of the simpler character types once you have a handle on it. You could be a drone expert with a supped up car. Heck one time I played a rigger with a full Semi-truck with trailer. Another rigger had a car and drones that could be launched from the truck and two deckers and one full mage rounded out the team. Crazy times were had by all and nobody could track down the deckers in their mobile satellite up-linked tank armored trailer.

Re: OOC Thread #2
I played a hacker last time, but since the book with the not-Traditions for technos came out, i might give those rules a look. But we appear to need matrix support of one variety or another, and I'm happy to do that if desired.

Re: OOC Thread #2
Sounds good to me, unless the GM is using Dances-With-Sprites as a semi-univeral NPC to complete all our decking needs. Some GM's don't like having to deal with Matrix stuff. I don't know the GM's preferences on such things.

Yeah, that was why I added the "if desired". Though I'm not certain what to play otherwise, we seem to have most bases more than covered.

Re: OOC Thread #2
Don't forget that pretty much everything is wireless enabled in 2070: hacking a bad guy's gun to eject the magazine is a perfectly valid tactic, and a good reason for a decker/technomancer to come on mission with the team and do stuff in the real world instead of lying on a couch wired to life support :)

Sleight:
Catchy: Mystic Adept of Thievery and no combat abilities?

Well, Catchy is actually excellent at unarmed combat, but that's not going to do much of anything to any decently armored street samurai (it's not like her strength is anything to brag about). She has plenty of nuisance spells, but no actual combat spells. She won't touch guns. For what it's worth her defenses are excellent, and she would actually be quite good at throwing grenades, if she had any ... :) Oh, and she follows Cat, so even if she could take down a bad guy she won't unless she's bleeding.

She's a mystic adept with superb agility and excellent reflexes, it wouldn't take much for her to become a dangerous katana wielder, or a superb marksm... markscatw... markscatelf, or a combat mage, or even a grenadier, she just isn't any of those things... yet.

Re: OOC Thread #2
I have no issues with people playing deckers/hackers/technos.  If no one wants to play one, then the party will have to hire NPCs if they have a need for matrix firepower.

Face-Bean is coming along nicely. Life modules led to some fun "side skills," which was the point of using them in the first place. The last 30K of nuyen is going to have to reeeeally stretch, though.

I am happy with Keys as he stands, and won’t be changing him.

But, please, where is this Life Modules Chargen of which you speak.
I’d love to go look at them.

Re: OOC Thread #2
Keys is much like Sleight.
I’ve been thinking on how to alter him some, but it seems I’m quite attached to this build.

You can list Keys as another ‘Fully Awakened Astral and Magical specialist’.
Also ‘High Charisma’ with good social skills.

N/PC’s might be left with the impression of a Corporate Trained wage-mage, laying low in the shadows.
