Alright, I'll set that up then, once I get home from work.

And auuuugh, I guess RPOL has gone green?  Something's changed.

I manually changed my colors so I never see the automatic rpol colors. Black background and white text.

I don't think it's ever too late. Though, I'm not the GM. :)

Re: OOC Thread.
We're just about to start, so people can still jump in.

I am thinking of pruning everything, and starting from scratch.  You folks who are still here can amalgamate your contacts if you like, so that your characters have some professional knowledge of each other, if that makes things easier for you.

Anyone who wants to update their character or create a new one, you are welcome to go ahead and do that.

I am hoping to have the game up and running this weekend.  No pressure, though!

Well, you had already given us a list of predetermined contacts available at a discount, so I am guessing our lists of contacts already overlap to a large extant. 2 of Catchy's 3 contacts are from that list. (see Contact... let's make CONTACT! thread)

In fact, one of those, Dances-with-Sprites, brought every member of our former group together, although we never got to the actual mission.

Re: OOC Thread.
So, these are the guys that I have on my contact list. Yes, Sleight is an Elf ;-)
Two at the bottom are from the shared list or required. Anybody else that wants good fixer with an Italian Mofia flare can pick up Tony. Ralph is a good smuggler that Sleight often works for. Julie is a top notch artificer and gets serious amounts of Sleight's creds.

Tony '2 Tons' Spiretti (Fixer)
Ralph Lorrin (Smuggler)
Julie Styles (Talismonger/Artificer)
Dances-With-Sprites L1C3
Jack Deckard (Former Colonel of the UCAS Army) L3|C5

Resetting seems best.

I'm rebuilding Painted Man, looking at how he would be if I use different priorities. I'm looking at making him less Face and more Social Infiltrator, so likely only Negotiation 1, but Con and Etiquette is his forte.

I have to do some rebuilding, mainly because my chummer file for Ras won't load anymore. I can re-work contacts to better fit a re-built team.

Re: OOC Thread.
Capsule summary of the new girl. She's a young, perky physad dryad who's mainly a combative type but has decent social skills, so you can take her anywhere. She cooks too, so someone who needs a combination maid/housemate can take her in (she's poor)

Yeah, I am going to clear out the original run threads, and clear out the folks who've not replied.  Still working on a few details for the game itself.

I've copied the data from this version, so you can delete the Character Details from this game.

Re: OOC Thread.
Out of curiosity, has anyone bought Cutting Aces?

The description feels like it would be really good for what I'm wanting to do with Painted Man, but I don't want to drop my hard earned nuyen on something I may not get to use much or at all...

Re: OOC Thread.
Cutting Aces has some fun crunchy bits for Faces (especially the qualities). The "soft" info is all about different kinds of cons and how to run them. The balance is definitely in favor of the soft info, though.

It is, I'd say, slightly better for faces than Hard Target was for assassins.

Re: OOC Thread.
The first half of the book is about some info on megacorp from a con man perspective (not very useful unless you are a GM looking for a starting point for a homemade campaign with the right players on hand), and a detailed description of Constantinople (probably more useful, but only if you are intending to play a campaign there, and even then only the GM really needs the book).

Then you get to the really good part: 26 pages of typical cons with names, description, some advice... mind you, you could get most of that searching through wikipedia or the internet in general, one con at a time, or watching reruns of the TV series Leverage, but it would take hours, and here it's all neatly put in one section of one book, with names (and the con) updated for the Sixth World, quite neat.

After that, you get 24 pages of gear, qualities, spells, adept powers, etc..., but while they are a handful of neat qualities for a conman (and a few neat negative qualities for anyone else who wants some easy chargen karma), there's nothing really gamechanging there. The gear is just a few more spy gadgets, really, and there's already plenty of that elsewhere.

And the book finishes with a section of expending rules for conmen and social skills, and we're back to the comments on the first section: if you are the GM and wants to use them, interesting; if your GM is going to use them, then he has the book and can explain them to you and you don't really need the book; and if your GM is not going to use them, well...

So unless you are a GM with a group of players looking for a con campaign, or looking to play in Constantinople (which would be very neat, mind you), then you have about 30 pages of really good stuff and maybe 10 more of so-so stuff, and the rest is just some background reading you'll never use. And mind you, 26 of the 30 pages of really good stuff are about 'soft info', ideas of cons for your character to try, not actual game mechanics.

Interesting, I seem to be coming back into rpol right as this game is restarting.  Sorry about my absence, I am dealing with a lot in real life.  I would be interested in starting over though.  What do I need to do?

I'll get that shortly.

Iris, if you are happy with your character, you don't have to do anything.  If you want to change your character, now's the time.

And sorry folks, I had a bit of a busy weekend.  But, on the upside, I found more of my notes so I know where I was planning on taking this game. XD

Re: OOC Thread.
The Jobs Wanted thread had a list of all the characters; of course it may not be quite up to date now, between those that are not coming back and a couple who may have been rewritten.

Catchy is still the same: a nocturna cat burglar, relying on adept powers and the occasional spell to get the job done (she's a mystic adept).

Morningstar is now Tiger Lily, a dryad physical adept who's mainly good at fighting, ninja flipping and being pretty. Though word hasn't come down on whether it's all approved yet.

Re: OOC Thread.
Social infiltrator, so I'm designed to blend into anywhere a human would fit (and with the right makeup, maybe even an elf or ork).

The weakest part of security is always the person. Sure we can pick the lock or hack the system, but tricking them into thinking I'm a just another wageslave who has forgotten his ID and letting me stroll inside is my way of getting inside.

I can handle myself in a fight, but that is option Z, not A for me. Leave the fighting to the street sams, I'll get the human intel ;)
