The Eastern Isles

On the horizon to the east several Islands could be seen in the distance. For some reason the dragons would know the given names of these islands as if in ancestral memory they had been seen before. Explored many times over in the misty memory of the past and even conquered and lost. The ravages of time playing out to simply leave wispy impressions of names. But leaving little but scant details as to what may exist there now.

Idra & Idar - Sisters of the Maelstrom.

Vede - The Black isle.

Ishar - Tower of Light.

New Toldon - Axe Biter.

Fisher Isle - Sea Breeze.

Dark Cloud - The Roost.

Kelyassa

Flight roll - Success - Failure - Success.

Soon Kelyassa was over the pristine sea looking upon its green and blue waters that moved beneath. But the bulk of her focus was on staying stable while on the wing. At first the task seemed simple enough and a good distance was made by simply gliding. But more turbulent wind currents threw Kelyassa off and for an alarming moment she was caught in a spiral plummeting down towards the sea. In that moment all her practiced flight skills came to the fore. She managed to right herself and swoop back upwards back into the easterly wind. The Island of Vede drew ever nearer but there was further to go. Kelyassa had a choice to make, did she continue to ride the turbulent easterly wind? Or fly lower and finish the distance via the exertion of flight.

Normally Kelyassa would enjoy flying, the feel of the wind going over her body and sense of freedom it gave her, but not now. She was in a hurry and that haste caused her to pay less attention, which nearly caused her to crash into the sea below but she managed to recover herself.

She kept at the altitude as she was now and took a deep breath before she started to beat her strong wings as hard as she could to make as much speed as she could to more quickly reach Vede. Once she came near the island she started to descend, soaring low over the island so she could look down. As she did so she opened her mindlink to scan for any minds present, she was on the look out for the druid or anyone who she could ask for directions to that person.

The flight took its toll, and a steady creep of exhaustion began to move into ever tiring muscles. Flying was becoming more laborious even with the wind at her back. There was something else also, a feeling of something diminishing. Like she had flown away from a cozy fire and was now out in the cold. This cold though was not temperature based but something deeper that told her magic here was only just barely perceivable.

The Island of Vede came into view.

The Vede

The Vede was home to a vast swathe of wild forest that reached up to the sky like gnarled and clawing fingers. The canopy was a dark rich green the bark of the trees close to black in appearance. Beneath the canopy was cloaked in darkness, little in the way of mottled sunlight could get through to reach the forest floor. Creating an effect of perpetual darkness with specs of dulled light. The area was rife with with the smell of abundant wildlife. Hot blooded predators moved through the darkness of closely clustered trees and thick foliage. Sounds of animals snarling and howling in the dark were heard. Nothing truly stood out with the exception of a towering [Pillar of stone] that rose up above the canopy. Against the backdrop of untamed forest it seemed to stand above it all as if it had been carved by tool wielding hands.

Kelyassa would find her sense mind capability was frustrated as many predatory minds stroked across the surface of thought. Each holding the promise of fresh dangers. There was however a sense of something sensing back. At the moment awareness collided a bone horn sounded from in the area where the [Pillar of stone] resided. The blaring sound startling all the birds into flight. The forest seemed to respond with a singular very loud roar that shook the forest floor.

A fresh male voice broke into her mind with an animal like savagery speaking in ancient tongue that seemed familiar but lost. “Hide you stupid dragon! Lest my folly become your end.”

Kelyassa looked at the Pillar of Stone with a deep interest before she was pulled from her reverie as a male voice broke into her mindlink. For a moment Kelyassa felt like shouting back at him, before common sense won over the instinct and she heeded the advice given.

She descended down into the canopy, using that as a means to hide as she gripped the tree she hid in tightly and remained perfectly still. She kept her link to male voice open "What folly would that be? And do you by any chance know where I can find the druid of who I've been told he lives on this island."

“You are like a blazing beacon, you need to think shadowy thoughts invoke the shadows and wrap them about your mind, or you may well be sensed.”

"I am a fool, I have accidentally transgressed against the spirit of the island. You have found who you seek though. The island is a bit... err, hostile now so be wary of sources of light. You help me scaled one and I will help you. How does that sound?”

Kelyassa closed her eyes as she thought back to the darkness that her lair had. She kept silent as she thought of the shadows and the darkness and tried to make it her own and cloak her in the shadows.

After a moment of silence she spoke again "That sounds like a fair trade Druid, my name is Kelyassa and yours?"

Turning her thoughts to shadow was difficult, but choosing the darkness of the Cavern was an interesting method of Cloaking thoughts. There was something homely about that darkness and the thought of it allowed her mind to dip into comforting shadows. Stranger still her thoughts wandered to an arid seemingly barren landscape,  stars however shone over the desert dunes and were mirrored within an Oasis lake. For some reason those warm sands and the sight of a still lake reflecting a night sky also felt homely. It was maintaining thoughts focused on shadowy things of night that proved tiring. In some way she would sense something searching. Something powerful that commanded great sway over the island. Whatever it was, was angry and that wrath bristled at the edge of her own mind. The druid had gone silent for a time until the searching sense moved on. ( Gain Skill - Cloak the Mind - [III )

“Very good, I could barely find you. My name is Garma, I can already tell that  you are cursed. In a way so too is this island, but that is in part my fault. I think the goddess of fate must be making sport of us to bring us together.”

There was a rustle nearby and a man dressed in brown bear pelts woven together with corded plant fibre stepped out. For a human he was muscular, covered in a swirl of rich knotted tattoos of dark green. Wild reddish hair cascaded either side of his sharp features like tangled undergrowth, laced with sticks and a helping of dirt. Green eyes took in the sight of the dragon.

“Greetings. We should make a move for my cave.” He made a light hand gesture for her to follow all the while stooping low and moving softly on bare feet across the leaf carpeted ground.

Kelyassa popped her head up out of the canopy as the sense of something searching for her passed and stared at the bone pillar for a moment. When she heard the druid again she went back below the canopy and let herself drop out of the tree, using her wings to glide down to the ground.

After landing she studied the man for a moment, before following after him.
