Single target and room to manuver is usually a good environment for chargy cavaliers.

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

Prayer is for every compagnon within 40 feet, and against all enemies in the same circle. Thus not only Sam, and the bear is affected as well (negative)

Same as last turn: take an attack of opportunity by withdrawing and then charge if the bear is still standing.

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

Debating how to play this.

I decided to reread the Dire Bears description before I came to the decision, Rip Dire Bears Cubs for lacking cuteness. Gonna remove any chance of Dove being empathic to it.

its matted fur is broken in places by wicked, bony growths.

Even the cub probably looks horrifying. For someone with no ranks in Knowledge Nature; I'm going the route of 'that thing looks diseased'.

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

A dire bear is not diseased nor looks deceased. Its just bigger, stronger and tougher. Also, I'm assuming you got the weapon drawn on a cub or in general on the group. In Sams eyes-its a bad thing and you have a weapon and are heading for the group plus he doesn't know you. Keep in mind also you never seen a dire bear probably. So not really sure how a dire bear cub isn't cute? Its a matter of opionion. Really its a matter of opinion.

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

As I said I looked at the description of a dire bear in pathfinder and it emphasizes matted fur that’s broken in places by wicked bony growths.

So unless your hand waving it as a larger then average bear, it’s covered in bone…. Spikes? Chunks? Coming out of its fur likely randomly.

If I met a larger then normal animal with random chunks of bone sticking out of its fur I can promise you I’d be thinking less floofy and more resident evil.

Also she’s publicly stating the bear needs to be put down so Sam should be able to figure out why she’s loading a crossbow?

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

I get it but ICly you load a bolt and start walking towards the group. Sam doesn't know you. Probably didn't see the magic you did as he was fighting the bear and views this as what he will do-protect the group. New person still involved moving at them.

Sams eyes-Dire Bears are bad but stumbling across a mother or father with a cub in the wilderness that's protecting it? I get it.

Not handwaving anything. Kill it, move on. OOC, cool. IC? Not everyone will be willing to back it. Haile's a ranger that doesn't seem to want to fight animals but will. So its up to Dream and if the ranger wants to put it down-alright.

I like the climatic thing!

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 253):

Sure; the entire reason she took a round to load her crossbow rather then attack was to allow party chat. but to be fair Doves not ‘approaching’. She’s been standing there for 2 rounds and just took her crossbow off her bag and began loading it.

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

Okay so at this point questions;
Are we still in a combat round?
I generally assume we can’t use social skills on other PCs but should I be throwing down social skills on Sam since he’s technically an NPC?

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

No not in combat and no cannot use any social skills to pull off getting what the group wants from Sam because hes a NPC. Now if he was enchated or whatnot, I'd allow it. I view him as a PC not a NPC.

Ironcially you can heal the bear Dove :)

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

Well Dove became the new leader lol.

Everyone just met Dove. And Sam is defensive. I think it'll be clear up when Sam drops his charade of being a bum.

I made Sam and when he meets a new person, he's not going to automatically be like 'Your my best friend' :) Sam isn't a bad guy.

Ironically, Sam has Fire Resistance and Evasion!

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 260):

Actually I’d state Jem did. Dove just wasn’t willing to get her life threatened again and take it.

Also she teeechnically didn’t threaten to kill Sam; just set him on fire. But that’s semantics.

Well burning him is a threat that can possibly kill him but that's null and void.

Re: (OOC) Chat Spot

Jem's CG, so he really doesn't want to bark orders to people or anything.

But Sam trying to run things by threatening to kill people with a crossbow (and I can't believe I have to type this) was not acceptable.

Let me put forth my reasoning.

Even if sam thought she was threatening the party (which is weird considering she could have stabbed us in the back when we were fighting the bear, and is a mage who was literally casting magic missile in the fight) it was pretty clear she was talking about the bear cub and saying it was unwise to heal it.

To discourage her, he didn't say "no", or "the others decide" or even "Halie decides, end of story" or even lightly imply violence with a "You shoot that bear and you'll be sorry."

Nope, he drew a crossbow and straight-up threatened to drop her the second she questioned the wisdom of healing the bear (which was immediately jumped into without PC discussion), and then when asked to please town it down and talk this out, ordered Jemimwitt NOT to tell him to chill.

There is a difference between being a taciturn spy and being a violent killhappy edgelord.
