Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

As you exit the shop a minor commotion is before your eye's rolling down the street.  Sitting upon the bench of a covered wagon being pulled by an older donkey sits a dwarf who looks to be infuriated with his passenger, a very petite but oddly attractive goblin.

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

Grudgebearer was being a dower dwarf again, he had been grumpy since they had been held up at the gate for some stupid reason well that is what he said.

"I am telling you Grudgy bear, there is no point getting upset every time you come to these city's they all have there own set of rules.  In the King Bear Tribe's Capital city Bataria, did you know you could wait a whole week in spring before they will allow in the city gates.  All to make sure the you are a ghost or some silly non sense about only dead souls can survive the winters in the Northern lands"

Nexxi while telling her story was pacing back and forth on the cart looking at all the shops, goose necking all over the place and quite literally standing on the drivers shoulder to look on his side.

"Look at all these shops Grudgy poo, we could shop for days here.  I bet they have some great smithy shops here where you could look for whatever it you look for when you spend all day there  just talking and hanging out and lending a hand.  You know it is very boring when you do that. We should go shopping once we park the cart and your donkey."

In reply to Nexxi Shadowtask (msg # 109):

Nexxi had been flapping her gums since they had woke up and set to the city gate early in the morning and the delay that she thought was so minor was actually a three hour one due to her flappin her gums.  The city guard had search his wagon for hours, all the while questioning Grudge on his business in Wisdom where he would be staying, for how long and all other manner of questions.  Grudgebearer had been zoning her out as Nexxi was regaling him with one of her fanciful tales, when she mentioned King Bears. Grudge reached for Nexxi and wrapped his hand around her face smothering her ability to talk but he had done it to late and had only got her when she had mentioned stabling his donkey.

"Dammit girl you can't just be willy billy be talking about the walking dogs like that here.  You know these people be at odds with them, you will settin them on edge and we won't be able to get no service any where and we will on the outskirts if we are lucky."

Grudgebearer was hissing this in a quite but harsh tone to Nexxi

"No I'm still quite well provisioned thanks. Until I leave this city anyway. At that point I suppose I will require a horse and some rations. Though I have no plans and nowhere to go so I am fine for now."

When the dwarf and the animated goblin ride by on the cart Korin stands on the steps of the shop and stares at them as they pass. Looking at Verna he asks,

"You think the Dwarf is fucking the goblin?"

"Maybe, anything is possible." The next part Verna thought to herself If you hadn't gone to bed early last night I would've probably fucked you, instead I had to use my fingers. "Let's see where they are going, some dumbass is bound to try and do something to the Goblin."

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

Korin shrugs thinking that he doesn't give two shits about something happening to a Goblin but he follows along anyway. He tells himself it's because he has nothing better to do but the last few weeks on the road and on the run have taken a toll on the young man. In truth he is lonely even if he doesn't seem to realize it.

"There seems to be a number of Dwarves around here. Not many where I hail from. I was under the impression they would not typically get along with goblins. Of course I was under the impression no one gets along with the little rats. They make terrible slaves I can tell you that for certain."

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

The Dwarf and Goblin with wagon make it's way through the city, at a steady pace to the south end of the city towards the docks.  With the hustle and bustle of the city though and being stopped once by a Green Men Patrol you arrive at the Wisdom River District just a little after evening meal is usually served.  Before you is a throng of people waiting for ferry's to travel across to the Old Kingdom or up and down the river either to Llorn or to Lopan, though it is not very often.  And also people unloading cargo from fairy's.  The Masters of the barges can be heard shouting orders and hawking their services, while porters and other dock side workers continue to busy themselves with finishing the days work.

Many individuals again look at Dwarf and Goblin, some spitting on the ground next to the wagon as they pass carrying their cargo, disgust clearly written on their faces.

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

Grudge rose up and stood on his seat on the wagon looking at the scene before him, it was packed at the docks and there were so many before him.  Had they not had the delay in the morning they could have at least talked to all the barge Master's and at least made a bargain with one of them.  Now he knew they would be taken for a yarn.  His hands clasped tightly on the reins, causing the leather to make a sound.

"Well Lass for sure we won't be crossing tonight and as you said I might as well take in some of the smithy's around this town or maybe there is a job or two we can take before we leave."

Sitting down again Grudge lets out a long sigh.

In reply to Grudgebearer (msg # 115):

Nexxi let out a huge smile at Grudge, literally beaming.

"I am sorry Grudge I will try to not be such a nuisance next time, but just think you can show your skills to these people around here and get your name spread."

Nexxi was pleased, she hadn't meant to cause such a disturbance but it was not a horrible thing, she had heard of a job around here.

Korin stretches his back and looks around before returning his gaze to Verna.

"Well I got a good tour of the city thanks my lady. Those two other than being ugly just seem to be about whatever their business is. I believe I will retire back to the inn and have a nice supper."

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

(Korin)
As Korin turns to leave out of the corner of his eye he catches sight of someone from his past, he is approaching the Dwarf and Goblin who still sit on their wagon.  It is not that you would really care of a dock worker walking towards potential customers.  It is that you recognize this particular individual from one of your fathers business transactions.  His name is Gabriel Kavanaugh a very successful and infamous river runner.  Your father had mentioned that he was one of the best and worked for as many as five other unique vendors up and down the rivers and had dined at the family estate on more then one occasion.  Behind him you notice two cloak individuals who appear to have just finished talking with Gabriel and are walking away into the crowd and are gone in a instant lost in the crowd.

(Grudge and Nexxi)

As you sit in your wagon deciding what to do, a man approaches with a fairly nonchalant swagger in his step, packing a tobacco pipe all the while giving you both a large fair smile.  He is dress in well kept clothes, nothing fancy but clearly he was a man with some means to care for his appearance.  Coming to a stand still just beside Grudge, he gives a quick sharp sideways glance to Nexxi a slight twitch in his eye and then his attention was fully on Grudge.

"Master Dwarf, I noticed not a couple minutes ago while I was unloading some final passengers and goods that you have just arrived at the docks.  I see that you do not carry any cargo and you don't really have the look of a porter.  No you Master Dwarf have the look of a man at arms, would you perhaps be looking to cross the river this day.  If you were I would more then be willing to do so, but I would have yeah know that it was our last run just now and we won't be going not till the morrow.  For King Hafton does not want miscreant work being done in the evening and for that I respect the man, him and his Green Men as they go about keeping the peace."

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

Korin spins back around and then moves next to Verna. He leans in intimately close and whispers,

"Okay now we may have something. That gentleman who just approached them is Gabriel Kavanaugh. He is a river runner and he has deep connections to the Black Market, the First Families of Phi and various other less than legal enterprises. He will recognize me and I may be able to use my family name to benefit securing passage, employment or to insinuate myself into their affairs. If the Goblin and the Dwarf actually have business with Kavanaugh then it is sure to be profitable. Likely dangerous and certainly illegal but profitable."

Nexxi grabs her stomach rolls backwards into the bed of the wagon and starts rolling from side to side laughing hysterically all the while barely squeaking out the words "master dwarf".  It appears that this will go on for awhile, as every time she seems to settle down she says the words "Master dwarf" again and only sets off on another laughing tangent.

In reply to The Storyteller (msg # 118):

Grudge attempts to catch Nexxi from falling until he realizes that she is laughing at him.  He looks to her and then to the man who spoke, raising his voice to speak over the laughter of Nexxi.

"Aye Sir it was as you said, I was tryin to git here as fast as could be this day.  But I had a bit of a hold up at the east gate.  My acquaintance here can at times git mah in a touch of trouble.  And I know your Green men they were very thorough in their investigation of my wagon.  Seeing as I won't be crossing this night, might yeah suggest a respectable inn to rest my laurels, get a good meal and keep my animal."

Grudge a very sour look on his face as he looked back to Nexxi who by all accounts would not be done for awhile.

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

Thilo had spent the whole day at the Library of Renown, he had not realize that the day had gone by so quickly till a young librarian had told him they would be closing in an hour.  The texts and scrolls Thilo had been reading were interesting to say the least.  Information was always relevant even if it was history or even something already learned but from a different perspective.

Wishing to contemplate the information he had read, Thilo took the young librarians kind reminder and left the Library of Renown.
Walking the streets of Wisdom fairly aimlessly, taking random turns and generally not looking where he was going.  Most people gave Thilo a wide berth as his ragged clothing and body wrappings gave the appearance of a diseased beggar.  Thilo came to the conclusion after about an hour of walking that today's research was best just stored in his mind fortress under incomplete data.  Surely in the future it would tie better to some other relative information. For now it was just loose bits of this and that.

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

Korin chews his bottom lip as he stands watching Kavanaugh and the two odd companions for a minute longer. He sighs and says,

"There is an outside chance he may try to seize me. It is possible my father put a bounty out for my return. He is probably glad to be rid of me however just in case I thought it warranted mention. If Kavanaugh is here then he has men close by do not doubt it. I will not allow him to take me."

As if his mind is made up Korin straightens his posture, his chin tilts up ever so slightly giving him that nose in the air snooty look. His worried expression becomes a mask of cool disdain and he swaggers forward looking every bit a young lord. He makes as if to just stroll by and then affects surprise at seeing the man.

"Mr. Kavanaugh, what a small world it is. My pardon for interrupting but your the first person I have seen that I know since I left home. Oh where are my manners. This is Verna, Lady Knight and my current traveling companion."

Re: For here is where we meet and here is where we start

Korin:

Gabriel Kavanaugh is listening intently to Grudgebearer, as you nonchalantly feint to walk by.  Your casual interruption clearly catches him off guard and then there is a flurry of mixed emotions that only you might catch. The initial frustration of being interrupted whilst plying his trade, the quickest gleam in his eye of something known and then as fast as a viper back to a iron clad calm exterior.

"While I will be a wolfen pup's chew toy, what brings young Master Korin to Wisdom.  I had not heard word from your father or I would have prepared a small reception for you with some of the gents and ladies.  I mean not few days ago I was talking to some of the boys saying telling them of some of the festivities that your family throw's."

Gabriel looks to your side where Verna is standing.

"Well Master Korin, I spoke to soon it looks like the ladies will have to not be invited.  Who would this young madam be?"

Grudgebearer & Nexxi

A young man interrupts your conversation & laughter with Gabriel, at sometime though he seizes an opportunity to give you an apologetic bow and looks contemplative.

"A respectable inn in Wisdom well there would be plenty know doubt, perhaps where Master Korin is staying would suit your needs but I have no idea where that maybe.  I am sure he would be obliging to guide you there."

Myrrick and Thilo

Your random wanderings throughout Wisdom in the afternoon have brought you both to the busy but closing dockside.  You both find yourselves just south west on the north side of the river the cuts through Wisdom easily visible further to the north on the docks is the young man named Korin and the women archer from last night Verna.  Beside them  sitting on a wagon is a dwarf and something seems to be rolling around in the back of it.  Korin and Veran seem to be engaged in a polite conversation with a unknown gentlemen.  Myrrick and Thilo you both recognize and acknowledge each other.

In reply to The Storyteller (msg # 126):

The interruption by the one known as Korin, does not really throw Grudgebearer off to much but it is noticeable that his mustache and beard wiggle a little in displeasure.  Grudgebearer had gotten used to the brash and hasty nature of humans, they were short lived and always busied themselves with to many tasks at one time.  Even the one called Mr. Kavanaugh was trying to hold two conversations at once, Grudgebearer was at least clad to know the gentlemen's name now.

"Mr. Kavanaugh is it" Looking to Gabriel Kavanaugh, Korin and then back.

"Please no need to try and carry two conversations, please finish with your friend Korin there and then you and I may be about our business of discussing travel tomorrow."

Grudge turns to Nexxi

"And you, stop yer laughin or you be sleepin in the wagon tenight to make sure nothen come's afoul of the wagon."

As the man Gabriel spoke Verna learned a bit more about Korin, more so then the young man probably wanted others to know.

Gabriel:

When addressed directly she looked directly into Gabriel's eyes. "Like Master Korin said I am a Knight, and his current traveling companion."

Thilo although not overly interested in others recognized Myrrick from the other night.  He was not sure what actions he took but he had been at the table when Captain Gualterius was taking everyone's re telling of the events.  Thilo walks to Myrricks position to stand beside him, all the while keeping an eye on the interaction of Korin and Verna.

"Good evening to you Master Archer."

A simple, polite greeting is all that is given Myrrick.

Nexxi gives Grudgebearer a innocent scowl, followed by a smile.  She stands straitening her garb out and takes a seat beside Grudgebearer.  Reaching behind her into a sack she draws out a apple and proceeds to eat. Acting very disinterested in the going on's of the conversation, instead paying attention to the surrounding area gathering in as much information as possible. Finally speaking to Grudgebearer.

"You wouldn't make me do that, you like my stories around the hearth to much"

A small chunk of apple coming out and landing in Grudgebearer's beard.
