Character Creation
Welcome to the world of Naruto! You are a ninja (or samurai, or something) who lives in the universe created by Masashi Kishimoto, revealed to us in the Naruto anime and manga.

This game will be using the Naruto d20: The Scrolls of Knowledge (really meaningless, actually), created by Frankto Vinneti and based on d20 Modern by Wizards of the Coast. (The game system is available for free at narutod20.com)

I would like everyone to discuss what character and sort of game they would like to play in the OOC thread before continuing to create, just to make sure we don't have every single character being the neglected, orphaned, lost branch child of the Uchiha (though, that would perhaps make for an interesting game...).

Once I approve your character, create your character like you would normally, with the following requirements and adjustments. (Note, I am here to help if you have any questions)

I've got a text-based character sheet that I will be posting below. It's got all the skills that I'll be using in my game. It's a bit of a combination of d20 Modern and Pathfinder, so if you have any questions about skills you see or don't see, let me know. A lot of feats and jutsu will have to be tweaked if it refers to a skill that doesn't exist anymore, so we can deal with that as it comes up.

In addition to the standard character gen with the below modifications, I'd like a list of 5 things that are more fluffy in nature (for the rp more than the stats)

1. Your character's favorite color

2. Your character's favorite food

3. Your character's hobby, or what they're doing when not being a ninja.

4. 2 People (pc or npc) that they have positive feelings towards (friendship, crush, familial love, etc, and why.

5. 2 People that they have negative feelings towards, and why.



Character Creation Process and Modifications:
We'll be making 1st level characters.

1. Ability Scores - We'll be rolling for ability scores, using 4d6 and rerolling 1s. That'll be done on the die roller here. If you end up with stats that you believe you can't use, PM me. We'll take that as it comes.

2. Race - Unless you have a character idea that ABSOLUTELY depends on using a certain race, please stick with vanilla human. The way N20 messes with different skill points for different races/classes... I'd rather not deal with it, since I'm doing some changes with the skill system in the first place.

3. Basic Class - No changes

4. Hit Points - No changes

5. Chakra Pool and Reserves - No changes

6. Starting Occupation/Background - Will either be Academy Ninja or a clan if we go with the "Academy Gennin-ish" game I'm planning at the moment. This will be something we discuss in approving characters.

7. Action Points - No changes at the moment, might change what they're used for later.

8. Skills - Some pretty big shifts from the d20 Modern norm here for me. This might unbalance things, but we'll see down the road and fix it if it needs to be.

-You get the "per level" amount of skill points at first level as well as all levels. In addition, the "Smart" class gets its skill points per level reduced to 7+Int, and the "Charismatic" class is reduced to 5+Int.

-You may put one rank per level in any skill. Class skills grant a +3 Bonus (as in Pathfinder). Non-Class Skills carry no penalty, but grant no Class Bonus.

-I am undecided about skill synergy. I'll allow it for now.

These changes are from my experience with Pathfinder, and I believe they're easier to deal with than the Cross-class stuff. But, if this ends up not working, I'm ok with going back to the drawing board.

9. Feats - No changes at the moment

10. CMB and CMD - I'll be borrowing the idea of Combat maneuvers from Pathfinder as well, since it goes a long way (in my personal opinion) towards making some combat aspects of the d20 system far easier to manage.

--Combat Maneuver Bonus is calculated by adding Base Attack Bonus + Strength mod + size modifier (if any).

--Combat Maneuver Defense is calculated by adding 10 + Base Attack Bonus + Strength mod + Dexterity mod + size modifier (if any).

10. Wealth - We'll be sticking with the default wealth system, but we'll see how that plays out.

11. Equipment - Purchased as in d20 Modern

12. Starting Techniques - 1d4+1 (rolled here) Rank 1 Techniques (Rank 2 or slightly higher possible with good reason), plus Bunshin no Jutsu, Henge no Jutsu and Kawarimi no Jutsu if you have a point in Ninjutsu.
