Rikka's Smith is one of the larger  businesses in the Port Henry district of Tusk.  There are a number of Smiths working at forges, making weapons and armour of all descriptions.

Rikka prowls around inspecting the quality of the work, and selecting some for her personal attention.  A few pieces, once they are completed, are carried through to her personal workshop at the back of the workshop.

Kendrick (and any others) stepped into Rikka's smithy. He waited until he got her attention before he pulled out the dagger. "We retrieved this dagger while clear some caves of kobolds. We know it's magical, but none of our companions decided to claim it. I'd claim it." Kendrick patted the axe at his belt, which was opposite the longsword at his left hip. "But this axe, while not the sword is much more suited for me."

"I'm hoping that you can be me a good price for this dagger..."

Rikka takes the dagger and examines it carefully.  She casts her own detect magic, and takes time to pick across the enchantments carefully, before speaking. "A very nice piece.  Well enchanted, capable of breaking into flame on instruction and then more, in the right circumstances."

She thinks for a little longer "I am certainly interested in the dagger.  I can learn a lot from the enchantments it carries.  What do you want for it?"

It certainly helped that Rikka was interested in the magical dagger. "We were told that this is very valuable. If one were to purchase the dagger, it would normally cost over 32,300 gold. We would be willing to part from it for about half that, say 16,151 gold." Kendrick wondered if she would blink at the price.

"Which is much more than I, or anyone else around here, can raise." Rikka says without batting an eyelid.  "I am not sure either Restov or Mivon could raise that for a single purchase.   To get that in cash terms you would probably have to go to New Steven - with all the hassle and risks that entails." Rikka responds without batting an eyelid.  And as Treasurer for the whole of Midmarch -  she is more likely to know than anyone else.

"However, we might be able to come to some sort of arrangement for other items in exchange?  For example, I have this ...." She says unclasping her belt.  Suddenly she flicks her wrist and the belt transforms into a short sword.  Another flick of her wrist and it converts into a short spear, then a battle axe, before she flicks it back into a belt and secures it around her waist again.  Perhaps we could come to some sort or arrangement to exchange it for  enchanted weapons or armour?  I can get them made over the  winter.

OOC:  This particular piece is a bladed belt enchanted to +1 and Rikka's favourite toy.  She can make enchanted weapons, and armour to +2 (or equivalent) and can also make  weapon or armour related wondrous items.

"So a trade for your services for the dagger." Kendrick considered the offer. "There are seven of us that found this dagger. Would you consider making some armor or weapons for the seven of us?"

"Of course." Rikka responds quickly.

"Then it's a deal." Kendrick handed over the dagger. "I'll let the others know. Seems that your business will be quite busy for some time. Now let me explain that I'd like before everyone else arrives with their requests...

The co-owner of V&A shipping visits the smithy. "Mistress Rikka. Might I inquire to your ability to transfer a weapon enchantment from a Scorpion whip of excellent manufacture to a rapier of sterling craftsmanship? And have you any superior daggers in your inventory as well?"

Rikka examines the whip carefully before she responds.  "It will look good up on the wall.  However, I cannot transfer enchantments between weapons, but I will create an enchanted rapier for you quite cheaply, within the one off 'cost only' offer that I have made to Henry's associates.  In this case it would work out at 167gp, plus the whip of course, for a rapier of the same enchantment.

I can also arrange a dagger of the same  enchantment for 2302gp if you want the conventional design, or 2312gp if you want one designed for duelling.

Adoven shakes his head "you misunderstood me. I only sought a Masterwork Dagger for my offhand. I am not trained with a dueling dagger and could not use it properly. However, I am in the market for Mithril armor if that is in your repetoire."

"So is everyone else ..." Rikka responds as she reaches under the counter for a well crafted dagger.  "That one is 302gp.  My mithral supplier will start putting prices up is I have too many more requests, fortunately I already  have  some on order.  What sort of armour are you interested in?"

Adoven pays the cost of the dagger. He says "while I could afford Mithril Chain Shirt at this time, I am a bit more ambitious. I plan to save up for a Mithril Agile breastplate, but as yet have only secured half the funds needed."

Rikka nods.  "Don't leave it too long ...." she cautions.

The priest enters the Smithy, looking about him at the weapons on display with casual interest as he waits with seemingly infinite patience for the proprietress to finish either with her customer or whatever task she is currently about.

After exchanging a few pleasantries ...

"I am told that you are a collector of unusual weapons," he tells Rikka politely.  "Would you be interested in this ?"

Even for all his size, Ethankos grunts as he settles a large axe on the floor, keeping one hand on the handle to hold it upright.

"Moreover I am told that you sometimes deal in kind ... would you be able to place an enchantment upon this for me ?"  He unsheathes his greatsword with much more ease, offering the masterwork weapon to Rikka for inspection.  "Naturally I would cover any expenses you might have ..."

Rikka grins broadly, ""My sir.  That is a very large chopper you have there ... and it will look very impressive on the walls of the store." Leaving the axe to rest against the counter, she takes the Great Sword and examines it, for a moment or two.  "It is well enough made  to take the enchantment ..." she pauses for a monet or two as she considers, before sticking her hand out to shake on the deal. "That works for me, and the axe will cover any expenses that arise."

Andalon entered Rikka's smithy fully armoured in a suit of banded mail. Seeing her with Ethankos he looked around at the impressive collection of items decorating the walls.

When Rikka and Ethankos were finished he spoke to Rikka about the reason he had come.

"I bought this banded mail from Restov last year and it has served me well enough but now I think I can afford to upgrade to full plate armour, including the first stage of magical enhancement of that armour. Do you think you would be able to handle that this winter? I would continue to use this banded mail until the full plate is ready but then trade the banded mail in as part of the deal, if that suits you. No doubt you would be able to turn a profit on the banded mail later when you find a buyer for it."

Rikka nods, and agrees to Andalon's proposal "We can do that."

Domitius entered the smithy and stood quietly watching the smith at work, it had always fascinated by the process which took a raw lump of metal and reshaped it into something beautiful.  It took strength and patience, something to be admired in anyone but when it wrought things like the armour he had come to pick up that truly awed the young man.

Finally when the smith finished Domitius politely asked "Mistress Rikka, is the breastplate ready?" he had been very specific, mithral to keep it light, a muscled torso with a golden sun in the centre of the chest for his house, a helm in the Taldan style but open faced so he could see and be heard over the sounds of battle.  He waited holding his breath in anticipation.

"It just needs the final fitting." Rikka says indicating that Domitius should prepare himself.  One the breastplate has been offered up, Rikka and an assistant make minor adjustments to the straps and buckles intended to hold the breastplate in place, before handing it over.

"No point having an expensive piece of armour if it doesn't fit properly ..." she says finalising the deal.

he lightly touched the blackened metal of the cuirass then traced his hand over the golden sun.  Truly a masterwork, I shall be proud to wear it and shall praise your work from here to Restov.  Completely satisfied Domitius leaves the shop wearing his armour and smiling contentedly.
