Fuzzy: The Investiture

OOC: A thread that I should have started a couple of weeks ago - before everything got busy with discussion threads :)

Just after the Naming Party, you are invited up to Tusk Keep for a meeting of the Midmarch Chapter.  Henry, as Knight-Captain of the order, stands on  a low platform at one end of the common room and opens the meeting.  He is flanked by Sir Cyrus, Knight Commander of the order, and Sir Borric the Chief Magistrate of Midmarch.

"It has been quite a while since we all got together and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dame Viktoria on her advancement to the rank of knight in the order.  It has been an exciting time for her." he pauses as he leads a round of applause and congratulations from those who adventured with her before her retirement.  "I would also like to congratulate Cyrus and Val, their plans to build a wall around Ringbridge will allow me to recommend that the Lord Mayor of Restov, should issue a patent in the rank of Lord-Dominus, under the terms my Charter to develop Midmarch."  Again he pauses to lead a round of applause for Cyrus and Val.

"And now we have some newcomers, who have proven themselves to be capable and trustworthy and are to be welcomes into the chapter in the rank of Officer.  As with the rest of you, this will give them authority to act in my name as they explore and claim land for incorporation into Midmarch."  This time he indicates Alisa, Dara, Gwair, Kiera and Stas.

"I also feel that we have grown to a size, where we should have our own meeting hall," he looks around the full common room, "So I shall approach Tusk Council, with a view to building a Chapter Hall so that we can meet, and socialize, more comfortably in the future."

The Kingdom Rules say that a character who controls five defence points gets the title of Lord-Dominus.  The city wall will bring Cyrus and Val's personally held defence points to 5.   The Mayor of Tusk becomes a Lord Mayor and his stewardship committee become Lord Advisors as soon as Tusk reaches city status.

Membership of the order, and the commensurate commitment to support and defend Midmarch, is the basis for your initial grant of BPs  that allow you to get started in the Kingdom part of the game.

Fuzzy: The Investiture

Domitius had checked with Tib to make sure he was on hand for the Investiture, he stood amongst the rest of the members of the order and cheered as Val and Cyrus were promoted.

Then as the five new members were inducted into the order he clapped loudly for each of them, Kiera and Dara he knew and Gwair and Stas Alisa had talked to him about.  His loudest cheer was for the young priestess who had become very dear to him in the small amount of time they had spent together.

After the official part of the ceremony Domitius made sure to greet each of the new members and introduce himself then returned to Alisa's side.

"Alisa I have something for you as a welcome present to the order.  It's something I have been thinking about since the day we met and I hope you like it."  He waves Barbatius over who is carrying something wrapped in plain black cloth.  As Alisa unwraps the gift she finds a wooden light shield and the ribbons of an officer of the order upon the shield is a crescent moon and below it a phoenix, the ribbons match the colours on the shield.  "I hope you like it, the moon is for Acavna, the phoenix is for her rebirth." he gives a shy smile.

Alisa didn't know quite what to say when presented with the surprise gift.

The symbolism...the thought and care which had gone into its creation...she felt a little overwhelmed.    When she spoke of what she saw as her life's work, her goals, dreams, she was used to polite nods and smiles, general well wishes, small words of encouragement which surely sometimes masked understandable doubt, or even suspicion.

Yet...Domitius had plainly listened, and decided to create something that symbolically expressed her mission so stunningly well.

"I...I don't know what to say. 'Like' would be a little bit of an understatement. It's the most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given me.  Thank you!"    She hugged him briefly, not caring whether it was appropriate or no.

Domitius beamed with delight as Alisa hugged him if too briefly, he was glad that the inspiration had come to him.  Domitius remembered it had been while sitting watching the dawn that the idea had come to him, the moon could still be seen as the sun had started to rise.  His sister had said it was a time when the walls between worlds were weaker and perhaps Iomedae had whispered to him or perhaps Acavna.  For all he knew it couls have been both or neither.  Still the results spoke for themselves.

Today had been a good day.
