Fuzzy:  The Guildshall.

”Welcome to the Guildshall.” Henry says as he raises his glass in a toast to you all.  ”Tusk Council and I have come together to help you, the best crafters, traders and merchants prosper.

This is a place where you can  do business amongst yourselves, a”
he waves to illustrate the great hall, ”This great hall is large enough to accommodate  large meetings and celebrations,  and will be available for hire, should you so desire.  There are smaller rooms,  for you to deal amongst yourselves – as well as  a small bar that serves light meals, and waiting staff who are prepared to come to you.

And today, we have some announcements that should well be a source of pride to all of you.  First I would like to announce that Rikka and Kendrick have both been appointed as Knights of the Midmarch Order.”
he turns to acknowledge the pair in turn.  ”Dame Rikka.  Sir Kendick.

And just as important, Tusk has officially been recognised as a City, so our congratulations must go to the Lord Mayor, Chancellor-Dominus, Councillor-Dominus and Marshal Dominus.  That all coincides with the church of Abadar being recognised as a Cathedral,  and Abadar being created Bishop of Tusk.

An auspicious occasion if ever there was one.  We shall also be running our first Oxtrain from Tusk, directly to Restov.  If anyone would like to accompany that, please let me know and I will make arrangements.  At the same time, Adoven will be taking a trip down river to visit Jovvox and Mivon.  Again, if anyone would like to accompany him, please let me know and we will make the appropriate arrangements.”

Once more henry raises his glass, this time in a toast.  ”To Tusk, First City of  Midmarch!”

OOC

This building, and its associated thread, is for any deals between you.  If you want to sell crafted items to other PCs -  this is the place to do it.  If you want to trade in BP for cash or Items – in here please.  The same if you have unwanted treasure that other PCs might be interested in.

Try dealing in here – and see if you can find a compromise between the selling and buying prices  :)

I intend to close down the Down-Time thread and start the Fuzzy trips in a week or so, from this post.  This thread is available for a bit of RP until that time, then becomes the buying and selling thread.

"To Tusk, First City of Midmarch!" Andalon echoes the toast and raises his glass in salute.

"Chancellor-Dominus and Bishop of Tusk. I can scarcely believe it is true," he murmurs to himself.

After a moment he gives himself a shake and sets off to congratulate Rikka, Kendrick, Cass, Pipre and, of course, Henry, on their achievements.

OOC: Is there any guidance on the value of a BP? I recall there was a bit of discussion at one  point but I can't remember which thread or whether there was any decision on that.

To explain this a bit, now that I have the feat I can take on commissions for crafting of wondrous items, with my NPC Gaius Senas running the business side of this venture. The price is 60% of base value of item, at least for now (might change in the future). I believe that's fair, and it is certainly a big discount from buying items outright.

I have 25 days that I could use for crafting at the moment, if anyone is even interested and has the cash at hand. There is an absolute limit to the value of the item that can be crafted in Midmarch, and for now that is 6000 gp. Most items below that value are available, though a few may have DC too high for me at the moment (like those magical beans). I'll need to earn some cash myself and get some gear before I could produce those.

One more thing, your character needs to be in Tusk (or presumably Whiterun) to actually pick up the item. For anywhere else you would need to ask the DM about.

"And just as a reminder, I am prepared to  make one magical weapon, armour or shield, for every member of the Midmarch chapter, at cost.  Many have already taken me up on the offer, but the offer still stands for everyone else."

OOC:  All PCs are members of the Midmarch Order, and if you have not already done so, may claim your 'free' discount.

Hi Safiya,

I am sure there will be lots of us who will gladly take up your offer of discounted magic item manufacture, but until our adventure threads reach their conclusion we won't know how much money we have to spend.

That is the dilemma of this type of fuzzy thread. Those adventures will probably have finished in time for people to commission items for you to make in your available 25 days of crafting time. I suppose it is just a matter of you keeping track of how much crafting time you use up as orders come in over the next few months or however long it takes for our adventures to be completed.

”I have an item for sale now.” Wyn  says, holding up a clay jug.  It is fairly large and looks like one of those clay jugs that holds about a gallon of ale.  However, it has a dragon stencilled on now side.  ”Once per day you can fill it with water and it will make it safe to drink.  However …” he holds the jug up to show you that there is some writing on the bottom, ”It can also warm the water up.  Or turn it into apple tea, hard cider or applejack.” He grins, ”We always used to take one adventuring with us ….”

He turns it upside down to show that it doesn’t leak, then back the right way before unstopping it ”Applejack anyone?”

It tastes just like normal applejack.  You can taste the apple and the alchohol -  and it is a bit rough around the edges.  The working man's liquor, rather than for those of a refined palette.

In reply to Andalon de Lebeda (msg # 7):

I figured as much, it made sense for everyone to spend their cash before leaving for their missions.  Oh well, maybe once parties start returning loaded with gold.

After his return from the Narlmarches, Adoven visits the Hall to speak with Safiya. There was business to discuss, both for personal scope and for the fortunes of Midmarch. "Good day, good lady. I would like to commission an enchanted item, and discuss our need to expand our purview in these troubled times."

Instead of Safiya Adoven is greeted by Gaius. "I'm afraid Lady Vallani is out of town at the moment, and so has sent me in her stead. I am Gaius Senas, her treasurer and proprietor of Senas' Wondrous Arcane Goods. As such I am capable of signing off on this agreement on her part."

He looks over some notes of his. "My understanding is that you wish to commission one of our magical items, a belt that makes its wearer more agile and dextrous? And in exchange you offer your help with developing Vallani estates back north, as well as a small down payment?"

1 BP and 150 gp for a Belt of Incredible Dexterity +2? Deliverable once the kingdom round starts and Safiya can actually craft it?

Adoven nods. "I have men and materials being sent North. Also, I was offered the Serai at Feyfalls. It seems Safiya needs liquidity to forward her plans at this time, and I have agreed to take it off her hands."

OOC Yes, 1 bp + 150 gold for Belt +2. For Serai in Fey Falls I have agreed to 1 bp this Turn and 0.5 bp next turn.

"Ah, yes. I have the agreement for transfer of the property in Feyfalls to you with me. If all is in order we can consider the deal agreed upon." Gaius hands the documents over to Adoven to sign.

"As for the magic item, I understand you are leaving the town very soon yourself, but the it should be ready for you by the time you are back. Unless there is some other matter to discuss, I wish you the best of luck on your mission east." Gaius will then collect his copy of the agreement to take with him to Whiterun.

Done and done.

Gaius thinks on the request for a moment. "I have heard of this item, but I do not think we could make one for you. This is more in Rikka's field of expertise."

Not a Wondrous item I'm afraid, crafting this would require Craft Magic Arms and Armor. Rikka might craft one or have it for sale?

Cass hired out a small section for a banquet for the latest talks of Midmarch development. “I thought that I would take the opportunity to open up unofficial discussion of the future of Midmarch. Any official business can of course be conducted in the respective development councils. But I thought a less officious discussion might be beneficial. And if anyone wishes to have a word with me particularly in private, you are more than welcome.”

Cass waived toward the banquet and toward the bar. “Eat, drink, and be merry! Midmarch prospers!”

New Topic

You all receive invitations to a meeting at the Guildhall, which are unusual because they are signed by both Henry, Viscount Midmarch and Cass Mordane - the Mayor of Tusk.

Once people have arrived, Henry speaks with little preamble  The tone of his voice and unsmiling face, warn you that it is serious.

"I have been considering the implications of the new patents that Tusk and I, have received.  While there are few real changes, and I don't think anyone has lost anything substantive in the changes, it will affect the way we can work together in the future.  And I believe that working together is what has made us successful, and allowed us to grow much faster than either Fort Drelev or Varnhold - and it is that growth that has made us successful, and brought us to the attention of both Surtova and the council.  Now, I believe,  we have a dilemma -  we don't want to be scrutinized to carefully to either The Regent or The Noble Council -  but nor should we rest on our achievement -  when we could be so much more.  We need to respect the status we have been assigned, but we still need to work together, if we  want to secure our positions politically, but still be in a position to increase our holdings and wealth.

And it seems to me that the new charters give us an opportunity to do that.  Every charter that I have seen includes two interesting clauses.  The first is that we must all  'Encourage and Support' new March-Holdings, and the second is that we must 'Notify other Charter Holders'.  I think that we could use those to maintain three of our traditions.

First has been the Midmarch Chapter, which has provided the resources to go out, explore new land, and then clear it ready for colonization.  I propose that we retain the Midmarch Chapter, but rename it the Southern Chapter - with members from Midmarch, Tusk and any new march-holds that are established.  There is precedent, The East Rostland & Restov Chapter included members from both places, under the leadership of Sir Ferdinand Ledkno.  I understand that he has now invited members from the Khavortorov Barony and Brundeston to apply for membership.

The religious centre and meeting place in Kunlun has only recently been established, but it has given us a forum where our religious experts can debate the benefits of their own, and potential new religions to the regions.  While the religious council have only met occasionally, I think it is a good way to engender understanding between the religions of the region -  and it had provided me with good advice on a couple of occasions.   I would like that to continue.

The Midmarch Council is the last of those traditions.  It has been open to all members of the Midmarch Order, and has proved to be an excellent discussion forum, that has informed a number of my decisions, and has helped us  work together as we have built this new land.  I would like to keep that tradition alive as well.

I do not with to constrain Tusk, nor interfere with Tusk Council's decision-making in  any way.  And, of course, Tusk will be able to make decisions on its future without reference to me and the decision that I make on behalf of Midmarch.  However, I think it would be good if we all had a way to hear every side of the argument, before we made decisions.

To that end, if we choose to create the Southern Chapter, I am prepared to build a new Chapter House for the  Southern Council, paid for from my family's funds. Eventually, it could grow to a point where it can provide accommodation for visiting members as well as an administrative centre and museum for the chapter."

Taking his seat, Henry looks out across the room, trying to gauge people's opinions.

Andalon's smile spoke volumes before he even opened his mouth to speak.

"I think that is an excellent idea, Lord Henry. I completely agree that it is imperative that we maintain the close connection between the City of Tusk and the Province of Midmarch, and ensure that the new march-holds are included in that union as well, in future. Together we are far stronger than we would be on our own. I agree that the change of name is wise, too; if we kept the name of the Midmarch Chapter it might seem to others on the outside that Midmarch was still trying to control the city and march-holds.

"Kunlun's function as a site for religious pilgrimage within Midmarch provides a religious connection for all of us and a legitimate reason to maintain the current religious council spanning Midmarch, Tusk and the future march-holds."

A slight frown crossed Andalon's face as a few other details occurred to him.

"Where exactly would you propose to build the new Chapter House for the Southern Council? This guildhall would be a satisfactory venue for these meetings in Tusk in the interim. Come to think of it, Maistre House, just outside of Tusk City, is no longer within Midmarch since those border changes were announced. Will Maistre House still be your primary residence, Lord Henry?"

"Whereever, you decide." responds to Andalon's question about the location of the new Chapter Hall, "Although I was thinking of Ivory Hill..."

"Maistre Hall, in the Tusk hinterlands will stay as a family home.  After all, there are still members of House leMaistre, such as Rikka and Beatrix, who live and work in Tusk -  and I am sure Bai and Amelie will enjoy the parklands of Maistre House more than thesurroundings of our home in Newgate.  While I will probably put the Midmarch administrative offices in Outpost, Newgate is still very much a small town full of building works."
