Re: OOC 3

Okay, first question; it seems that according to these rules you have removed the part of the Leadership feat that allows you to have more total Entourage-Assistants (per your previous modification of the Leadership feat). Is that intended? If so, then does that mean that "all" the Leadership feat gives you now is a cohort? That's not necessarily a bad thing, but does neuter the feat from it's original form.

PCs will still be able to use their leadership score, rather than level when calculating the number of Entourages they can have.  I was being a bit ball-park with my notes etc.

Can entourage allies be advanced to Cohort or minor Cohort through trait or Feat? Do we have to spend 2 bp IN ADDITION to the trait/feat to do so?

Entourage Assistants, Cousins and Allies would be able to develop as Minor Cohorts  (either by feat or trait)  I won’t make anyone pay anything back.  However, if they advance to  Minor Cohort they would still expect to have all the same responsibilities and privileges as before.  (Or be awarded new and better ones)

I would assume you'd have to "repay" the BP the ally brought with them, if by advancing them to cohort or minor cohort you free up an ally slot. Otherwise the trick would be to make someone an ally, then "promote" them to minor cohort, then bring on another ally, and so forth, getting "free BP" every time. number limit.

*grin* everything is manipulable.  However, now we have another way of bringing in outsiders  (Minot Cohorts Trait) -  It might be reasonable to remove the bit that lets you bring in new people as entourage allies/cousins and make it a promotion route for existing Entourage-assistants.  At the same time, restrict it to a 1bp bonus?

Re: OOC 3

So if the boss set me up with a business of my own how would that work?

ie giving an entourage assistant 1bp to start his own business

Re: OOC 3

It depends on  how it is set up.

Robert, Adoven's Entourage-cousin, is principal of the Lodkova military school and Duelling salon.  Income is spent by Adoven, on behalf of the family.  However, Robert gets the XP associated with those businesses.

Brother Lutz, an Entourage-Ally of Marik, spends his own BP, to the benefit of Clan Stigmar - although that is controlled by Marik/DM together, and always coincides with  Marik's best interests.  However, it also benefits Clan Stigmar and (in this case) the Church of Torag.  Lutz gets the XP associated with the new clan/church businesses as well.

Unless Adoven assigns more 'responsibility' to Robert, he progresses slowly.  Lutz will progress faster, because 'his' holdings are growing. Does that help?

I actually like this, but I would also make it so that allies/cousins can't promote to cohorts (perhaps with the exception of those allies/cousins already in game since it's a new rule).

So cohorts could be either new or promoted assistants while allies/cousins have to be promoted from assistants.

Overnight, I had, more or less, come to the same position.  How about ...

Entourage-Assistants - always new L1.
Entourage-Cousins - always promoted assistants (Reward for long service etc)
Entourage-Allies - Could be promoted assistant or could be brand-new BUT with a link  (as in the case of Lutz)
Minor-Cohort - Promoted assistant or could be brand-new
Cohort - Promoted assistant or could be brand-new

No more than one level (automatic) advancement at any promotion.  NO L2 Entourage-assistant to L5 Cohort - But L4 Entourage-assistant to L5 Cohort would be OK.

Cousins and Allies both bring 1bp of investment with them.

Entourage-Cousins (effectively) buy their way into the family with a 1BP investment.  Then their money becomes part of the 'Family Money', but the head of the Family (the PC) is expected to look after them.

Entourage-Allies, however, are different.  It is more of a business arrangement. In that there is something in it for both parties. So far, I have given Entourages a loan from an NPC organisation  (ie Clan, Church, whatever they represent) I quite like the idea of the ally bringing 3bp with them -  1bp from their savings, 1bp as an interest free loan from their clan etc,  and 1bp interest free loan from the PC.

Cohorts and Minor Cohorts don't bring any BPs with them -  BUT they do expect to be  treated  somewhere between the other two?    If you are building a legacy for your family and descendants, they expect to be able to do the same thing (on a much smaller scale) for their families.

Don't forget that Cohorts (and even  entourage-assistants) can be adopted as  'cousins' anyway.  They don't get any extra status, nor any of the Entourage-Cousin benefits,  BUT they add to your growing Noble Family.

For example:  Rikka (who is Henry's Cohort) has been adopted as a cousin, and is now an adopted member of the family.  Henry trusts her (she is treasurer of Midmarch) and she trusts Henry to look after her, and any children she might have.  She is probably due for a 'House' of her own in Tusk soon.  Tib, adopted as an entourage cousin, got (some of) his reward last kingdom round

I haven't added the Cohort section yet, but this is what I have in my head for the Entourage variants.  Then imagine Minor-Cohorts and Cohorts sections on the bottom.

Re: OOC 3

I am back, all safe and sound, I haven't forgotten you BUT I am having trouble getting my head back into the game - at the moment my head is full of cannons, muskets, swords and pirates.

I am a member of the Wimbourne Militia https://www.facebook.com/The-W...tia-328279820640742/  and over the weekend we went to defend Detling against an incursion by the Sheppey Pirates  https://www.facebook.com/SheppeyPirates ...  Which was my first serious event for about two years, thanks to Covid restrictions.

You don't want to meet the Orc-viking-pirates that I have going around in my mind at the moment.  I think I might need to write them down, just to get rid of them.

Could make for an ominous scene...

Re: OOC 3

It has taken a while for me tom get back to it -  But this is how I envisage Entourages to work in the future. The detail, listed below the 'Old Text' heading, hasn't yet been modified or integrated.

http://rp.baileymail.net/doku....s2:people:entourage2

It is, I think, a more comprehensive and better integrated set of rules.

Comments, as always, will be appreciated.

Does this mean that Adoven cannot promote Robert to Entourage/cohort until Adoven reaches L9 AND Adoven takes that added trait?

Re: OOC 3

Yes.

Although Technically, you could take the Recruits  or Leadership feat and upgrade him that way, if you chose.  However, that doesn't feel like an effective way to do things.

I decided that a development cost (of some sort)  was appropriate if a player wanted to take a 'free' entourage adventuring -  I felt that a Trait was an appropriate cost to  put it on a (reasonably) equal level with the various Cohort granting feats.

Re: OOC 3

Guys, it has been a funny week.  Some of you will remember that I host a weekend long dungeon to celebrate my wife's birthday …  Well that happens this weekend.  Players start arriving tomorrow (late Friday afternoon) and the last one leave sometime Sunday afternoon - in-between we get something like 20 hours of fairly intensive D&D  :)  (Well, Pathfinder now)

Much of the week preceding is taken up with Spring Cleaning and preparing the dungeon (I convert an old AD&D 1 module for their delight and delectation).  However, this time there have been a couple of little glitches.  A minor health related issue, and my printer going kaput on the one weekend of the year I print a lot.  Both of those have been overcome -  and I am well on the way to having a clean house and a converted module, however, I have lost over a day  of prep time.

Unfortunately, you guys have missed out of some of my attention this week and I won't have time to write anything decent before the weekend :(  I will, however, be back with posts to rejuvenate threads after the weekend.

Re: OOC 3

Hey, no worries- this is your big weekend to cut loose with friends and family and celebrate your wife's birthday (tell her happy birthday from us, too!).  It sounds like you had a few things come up (take care of yourself and make sure that little problem doesn't become something big, yeah? :) ), but that's just life, so no worries.

Don't worry about us- just go relax and enjoy the weekend and the gaming and everything and we'll pick things up afterwards.
