I want to try my hand at ribs and such- or something big.

at 23:57 | Re: OOC 3My brother grills a lot and he suggested barbecuing a pork butt roast. On the rare occasions that I grill, I usually pick steaks, maybe a litttle seafood, and grilled corn in the cob.

A good roast will take you a few hours and constant attention, but it could turn out wonderful.

It was a Bring-Your-Own BBQ on Friday night - I marinaded some strips of lamb fillet in fresh mint, oil and white vinegar. After 24 hours in the marinade, they need little more than searing to be really nice :)
Saturday night was venison stew - We were on a farm that runs herds of deer (among other stock). That was really nice as well :)

It was actually pretty good, but it's hard to find it outside of specialty markets and butchers- but I make do with good pork, beef, chicken... not too sure of my skills with lamb or seafood, though- might try trout grilled on a plank before it gets too cold and nasty outside to do much grilling.
But yeah, as long as you cook meat enough to kill any little surprises that might be on or in the meat, make it as rare or as well-done as you like, you know?

I like to cut chicken into strips and marinade them in oil, lemon juice and pepper. Then they take just a couple of minutes on the BBQ, and they are cooked through but really succulent and juicy :)
I used to have 'bats' for fish, a flat cage that you put the fish in before you cook them, it holds the fish together nicely and you don't get bits stuck all over the grill.

Oh, I'm in a bariatric program being observed by the hospital. Its absolutely legit. I'm being observed by a doctor, a dietician , a fitness instructor and a therapist. I get weekly check ups and everything. I've lost 50 pounds already so it works for the short term getting me to a place I can work off the rest of the weight myself :). Just get food cravings sometimes.

That's always been the problem with me and grilling fish- I try to get the good grill marks on it, but the blasted filet always comes apart into fragments and sticks to the grill or ends up dropping into the coals.
On the other hand, if I had the money, I'd have one of those smoker rigs and just go absolutely nuts with it.

Well done. I haven't weighed myself since I came back from the weekend - But I had lost about 15-20lb since the start of the lockdown.

at 12:57 | Re: OOC 3Some of you might be aware that there are Bonus properties that come from the Campaign System – which represents the campaign living standard that your character can afford. Those of you not on the list, have a basic room in a barrack block - or stay in one of the buildings that you own.
There are options to build extra accommodation for yourself in the campaign rules (ask me and I will point them out) as part of your property portfolio - BUT make sure you have an income established first ;}
Now you just need to tell me where you want to be based. Houses and town houses are found in Cities and towns, so you have a choice of Tusk, Ringbridge, Newgate or Oston - assuming you get permission from the landowner.
These don’t have to be your main residence – for example Henry has a number of homes, but generally uses either his manor house in Tusk or the castle at Newgate. Cyrus has a manor house in Ringbridge, and a smaller house in Tusk (for when he is in the city)
See below for the properties you can have as a freebie – and further below for a quick description. This is all based on the PF cost of living standards :}
The following people have enough of an Income to secure a House as a bonus.
These people can have a Town House as a bonus.
Kendrick & Pipre already have a Town House in Tusk – and one of them might have an apartment in Tusk keep.
Descriptions
Barracks Room – You get a small room Just big enough for a small bed, table and chair (let’s say 7.5x5) in a barracks and are entitled to meals in the mess hall. There are baths, toilets etc for communal use You need not track purchases of meals or taxes that cost 1 sp or less.
Town House - Three rooms,(15×20) stacked one on top of each other. Ground = Entrance, storage, washroom. Stairs to – Middle floor: living room, cooking done over the open fire. Stairs to – Top Floor: Sleeping room with sloping ceilings. Generally part of a terrace of houses. Small yard with toilet.- - You eat regular meals and can afford occasional minor luxuries. You still wear artisan style clothing (costs less 10gp), but can afford clothes for everyday use – and a different set for ‘best’ – and they are in fairly good condition. You probably employ a P/T cleaner and P/T cook. You can secure any non-magical item worth 1 gp or less from your home in 1d10 minutes, and need not track purchases of common meals or taxes that cost 1 gp or less.
House - - Think three bedroomed house spread over three floors, top is a half-floor with sloping ceilings. Often has a yard with a toilet and is part of a terrace. Perhaps one live-in servant with others coming in part-time. You eat well and can afford minor luxuries when you feel like it, but you still save up for bigger treats. You probably have a set of Courtier’s clothes for posh occasions. You can secure any non-magical item worth 5 gp or less in your home, and need only track purchases of meals or taxes in excess of 5 gp.
