Re: OOC 3

I'm confused... Rana's post makes it sound like she's dying, but DM post has her at 'moderately wounded'? Is she down and dying?

My bad.  She is down and dying.  I will amend the post as necessary.

Well, she does have a couple of rounds to go before she dies.  It isn't THAT serious.

House Rules on Duelling ...

http://rp.baileymail.net/doku....es:duelling#duelling

I am thinking of running a duelling competition, in Fuzzy threads, as we start the campaign round.

I am sure Henry can think of a half-decent prize ...

I'm excited by this, though I think I'm likely to fall short against the other duelists so far!

Nope.  This is Duelling, the art of fine swordplay -  not gladiatorial displays to sate the  blood-lust of an undiscerning audience.

Re: OOC 3

And now an NPC design challenge ...

I need a standard Duellist.  Design limitations are NPC class with Str-12, Dex-12, Con-12, Int-12, Wis-12, Cha-12.

At least one of the builds will go on this page http://rp.baileymail.net/doku....ttroops#basic_troops in the Specialist Troops category.

There might be a small prize for the one I like best  :)

Re: OOC 3

I mean, just based on the feats alone, you could make all sorts of difficulty levels- account for different styles of weapons and fighting styles with a few different feat sets.

You might get a duelist who favors two-handed weapons that might take something like Power Attack if they're all about the muscle, or maybe another setup for someone who likes to use their fists or any other kind of weapon.

The only real drawback is a lot of these require INT of 13...

I mean, it's just a thought...

Re: OOC 3

No power attack, no dodge and no combat expertise. Not without either level up ability score increases or class features that ignore those prerequisites.

Also you neglected to mention a level you'd like that npc built to ;)

Re: OOC 3

Yes, on both counts.  I should have put some context in.

These aren't supposed to be good duellists, but they are the  'ordinary' students who leave a  duelling school at the end of their studies.  They are trained to fight and to fight duels -  BUT they won't be very good duellists.  They will be easy meat for a PC class character of the same level in a duel, BUT will (most probably) be a bit better than an ordinary soldier (in a duel).  :)

If they should progress  to be a L4 or 5 character, they might start to hold their own against vert junior PC duellists.

So - Level 3, stats all at 12 and an NPC class  :)

I know it is a strange exercise -  but it means ann extra bit of RP fluff comes available ...

Re: OOC 3

And now another thought.  If you didn't see the post, part of the next set of Fuzzy threads will include a duelling competition.

I am going to impose a 1 Character per player rule (except in very exceptional circumstances)

However, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SUITABLE CHARACTER and want to take part in the competition, please PM me.  I have a couple of NPCs who would like to play -  OK they haven't been defined yet, and haven't yet come to the notice of the leaders of Tusk or Midmarch -  but they have been there, in the background, just waiting for their chance.

I am setting up the next Campaign Round to start next weekend :)

Please check your entries in the Player Information II thread.  It should contain details of your character's aspirations -  and (more importantly at the moment) a summary of their  Financial position  (in Campaign Terms - not gear, WBL etc)

But if you need a judge for the duelling competition, Percy will reluctantly oblige. :>
