No worries -- your game ranks for setting, stories, color, cast, immersion, organization, a whole list of reasons. The system is no big deal.
But yes, one big table is good!
I've dabbled in 5E just a little. It does seem well thought out. If the right game/story presents itself, one day, I'll probably learn it more properly.
PF 2E...just recently, I was curious, and downloaded a free character builder on my phone. Have to say, I was surprised. It seems like a good overhaul. I have no clue how it plays, but the creation part of it was promising.
Funny you should mention 'Powered by the Apocalypse'...I'm in a WW2/Golden age supers game that uses that one. That's definitely the sort of system I tend to prefer. Would be interesting to see how it works for something medieval/fantasy.
