Bear with me, folks.  I have had a bad cold for the last couple of days, and it has been making me feel a bit jelly-brained.  There probably won't be any serious posts until the weekend.

Aw, hope you feel better!   No fun.

Good stuff, once again, on the downtime thread, Kiera. Will look forward to seeing how it plays out!

Re: OOC 3
You all know I have been playing with the economic part of the campaign rules - now they are starting to coalesce into a coherent set of changes. This is partly the result of some of your comments, and partly because I have started to see new relationships between different parts of the Economy as I have been reworking the spreadsheets.

As always, comments and thoughts are welcome, and changes can still be made ...

Re: OOC 3
Can someone explain to me WHY I am being compensated 2 bp? Last time I checked, only the tax rate was being modified on Magic Economy....it wasn't being eliminated.

And if all SPECIAL Economy is to be taxed, will myself and others be 'compensated' for our existing Trade Routes, City/Town/Local bases, and Transportation assets (Mule/ox trains and fishing boats/shallops/etc) no longer profiting as much?

Re: OOC 3
You are being compensated because under the new version of the Magic Economy rules, all magical building generate income differently, and some (Holy Houses, Priories, Temples and Cathedrals) produce a lower return than previously.

In the past, your Holy House would have produced 1bp as income.  In future, it will generate 0.5bp income.  One BP compensation represents should allow you to purchase a new Economic Utility (such as a fishing boat) to replace the lost income.

You will note that the new system for purchasing developments outside of Tusk/Midmarch doesn't rely on cash conversions -  but treats all BPs equally.

Other magic producing businesses, such as Exotic Workshops, are also affected.  It gives a smoother progression  and makes it easier for PCs to grow their churches and magical businesses.

Your general business income won't change at all, under the new economy rules - you still make the exactly the same income from your vessels, bases and trade routes :)  However, the settlement now makes some money from them as well, and it makes my spreadsheets much simpler  :)

Is Domitius now an actual SwordLord? May I ask if he got the title through taking the PrC, or some other path?

Yes, Dom is a Swordlord.  Character builds are down to PCs to share, if they choose to :)

What are the paths to SwordLord? The PrC I know about. I'm getting ready to enter the duelist class myself, maybe.

Re: OOC 3
From This page  http://rp.baileymail.net/doku....ter&s[]=duellist

There are three main routes to becoming a Swordlord.

Swordlord (Fighter Archetype) – the mainstream approach used by the majority of Aldori families and their troops. When they achieve level five they are known as a Swordlord Elect (Think Brown Belt). Level six gains them full Swordlord status (Think Black belt)

Swordlord (Prestige Class) – The best route for anyone who didn’t follow the Swordlord archetype – and even some that have. Qualifying for and achieving a single level of the Swordlord Prestige Class earns you Swordlord Status.

Duellist (Prestige Class) – An unusual way to qualify, but still possible. Someone trained in a different class, but proficient with an Aldori Duelling Sword, may well be given Swordlord status when they qualify as a duellist. However, they will have to prove their ability in a duel.

In Restov, Masters in other styles are often given the honorary title of Swordlord.

These are the ways to become a master duellist in the traditional style. Falcata and Buckler

Buckler Duellist (Fighter Archetype) – the approach chosen by most characters who choose to make a career as a Traditional Duellist. When they gain Level Six they are known as master Dualists.

Duellist (Combat Feat) – This feat give a character with basic falcata and buckler skills a boost. Someone with this feat and, at least, BAB 6 might be awarded Master Duellist status.

These are the ways to become a master duellist in the modern style.  (Rapier)

Learned Duellist (Fighter Archetype) – This is a career path taken mainly by fighters with an aristocratic background, of one sort or another. It is a good way to improve your status in aristocratic society.

Duellist (Prestige Class) – this is the most common career path for a Modern Master Duellist, as it offers a straightforward route into high level duelling for characters from many classes. Rogues and Bards are the obvious beneficiaries by any ‘combat’ character will have proficiency with rapiers and light blades, and most other classes can learn proficiency with at least one light blade. It is a common route for NPCs with the Aristocrat NPC class, as it can help them gain and maintain status in Aristocratic Circles.

While I still want to do some work on Aldori Troop Types, I have expanded and updated the main Aldori page.  I don't think I have changed anything previously written, but I have expanded it and added a bit more context

stolen_land:brevoy:aldori

It will be useful for anyone who is interested in RPing an Aldori heritage, and (possibly) for those of you on the Diplomatic Visit to Sirian

I have been talking to a couple of people about different types of building -  which has prompted me to put some of my floor plans on the wiki.  Some of these go back years before this game started ...

*grin*  Don't go to the bank for a loan ....  they charge interest :)

Seriously though, those are mainly there to give people a bit of an idea about different levels of accommodation, and also to show that there is flexibility.  However, you can still describe your own homes  :)

I often draw plans for buildings (etc)  when I am not feeling up to anything more serious.  They also help me to get a handle on some elements of my own RP, so many of those were done with characters (from other games) in mind.

Posting them now was convenient -  partly because of a couple of conversations, and partly because I haven't been feeling all that good this week, and messing around with a wiki page doesn't take a lot of thought  :)

Re: OOC 3
I have been doing a lot of work on the spreadsheets that I use to manage the finances recently, and have redesigned them to meet the new criteria we have spoken about, and to automate them a bit more.

Rather than individual spreadsheets for each holding, I have one for Midmarch, one for Greater Tusk and another for organisations that have developments in multiple settlements.  The last includes sheets for DELEM, V&A, WSM, Church of Abadar, Pharasma etc - which has made it much easier to create the financial information I create for each character at the start of a campaign round.

To save a bit more time  (extracting data and posting it separately takes a while) I am considering publishing complete versions of all three spreadsheets on the wiki.  That doesn't make any real difference to the settlements, as their data is published anyway,  BUT it would make the financial data for the businesses public for the first time -  although most of it could be extracted from the other sources anyway.

Does anyone have any problems with the new, more open, approach?
