Re: OOC 3

In reply to DM (msg # 948):

I have no idea how anyone could have taken in that way!

The LARP I used to do was UK-based, and did three-day events in which you spent most of your time in character. Low fantasy (very few monsters, and those were generally all human in some fashion, the most uncanny being 'the lost' who were people who had led immoral lives and who, upon death rose and walked East to 'Nachtjaeger' who were those denied hospitality in winter who, when they froze returned with a hunger for the heat of the living but who could only be repelled by fire and slain by ice) and low-magic (anyone could do it, but it was ritual based, all the power in it came from The East and it absolutely screwed you up to the tune of 'draw a bead from this bag, oh hey look at that, you have a small mole on your neck that sometimes opens up and whispers blasphemy at you now! Better buy a high-collar shirt!)

Full-contact too... One of my favourite memories was jumping onto a friend in a bar fight, riding him to the floor and getting picked up by my chainmail by another friend and skidded along a tabletop through a partition wall.

The plots were heavily 16c-based, so the aforementioned football match formed a major event, as did 'the last day of a county fair in which a passion play went awry as the actors started being murdered in fashions like the sins of the parts they played, but we didn't realise until after some of us were subbing for them' and a notable event that we thought was called 'Quicksilver' but was in fact called 'Quick, silver!' as an inbred, somewhat animalistic clan of local hill-folk were besieging the road house we'd all rocked up at... Set in an actual 13c cottage on national trust land.

 Good times!

Cass Mordane:
Mostly for the grog and lime Rickey’s.

I got a few  bottles of  rum sorted out over the winter.    Black Rum  Flavoured with Blackberries)  Bloody Rum  (It is bright red and flavoured with sloes)  and Dirty Rum -  (a dirty Pink colour flavoured with Rose Hips)

Unfortunately,  all of my re-enactments have been cancelled since  May last year.  Including one I should have been going to this weekend -  a 'practice' gis, in a field next to a pub!  Unfortunately,  all the bar staff have just been told to self-isolate,  and the damned pub has been closed for the duration!  :(

Next one (Pirates!)  at the end of August at the Detling show.

Re: OOC 3

Just a heads up, I'm leaving for a long weekend on Wednesday.  I will try to update threads Tuesday or Wednesday -  but after that, it is unlikely that three will be any serious posts to the following Monday.

Technically, the festival starts Thursday, but some of us know about the Secret Concert on Wednesday evening  :)

This looks like quite a gig!  Go, have fun, forget about everything else for awhile!

My dad is a huge Van Morrison fan --  many of the other acts I've not heard of, but the names get better & better the further you go down the list!

Re: OOC 3

It started out as a small folk festival, a few years ago - and has grown year on year.  It is a lovely mix of Old Rockers, the Modern Folk scene, less usual modern stuff (Jazz, Banghala etc) and some ...  err ...  basic local talent  (they aren't that bad really)

We set the caravan up to stay on-site and then spend 12 hours a day listening to an eclectic mix of music, shopping at folk/hippy/new age stalls and trying all sorts of 'festival' food  :)

I have just added an extra thought to that post, regarding a trait to permit some Advanced Entourages to become Minor Cohorts.

Re: OOC 3

I wouldn't be opposed to such a trait, and it seems to be about the right "power level" for that ability; not quite as good as a full feat.

On a side note, have you figured out how you're going to handle Entourage-Cousins having cohorts? One of your "recommended" prestige classes for Entourage-Cousins is Noble Scion, which grants Leadership as a bonus feat at 2nd level.

Re: OOC 3

Err  ...  no.    I knew it was there, Henry has it and has used it. But, TBH, that hadn't 'clicked' for me.

However, it will take an entourage cousin quite a long time to get  their second  level of a PRC.  They will have to be something like character level  7 or 8 ...  with  the last two levels coming from XP gained.  That is something like 13000xp, with the most active Entourage getting 750xp a year.  Say 17 years ....

One rule I will apply, is that a PC can only take one companion adventuring with them :)

Although I will make exceptions for things like animal companions and paladin's horses.

Oh, I don't know that I'd like to take a paladin's horse adventuring with me.  I've heard they can be stroppy beasts ... if not half as stroppy as the paladin is when they find out their mount is missing !  :P

Re: OOC 3

I'm tidying up the Character Roster.

There are a number of Ex-PCs who are still around as NPCs (Aris’ta, Dara, El, Quentin, Quinn, Zorah)  That I haven't posted for in quite a while -  so I am going to delete their character sheets.  That, effectively, means they become static NPCs and don't advance in levels etc.

I am also going to set a building level for Static NPCs, to that I stop managing their financial resources.

There are a few other ex-characters, who I can see Jobs or post opportunities for.  I'll keep those for a bit longer -  BUT  will probably count most of them as static NPCs.

Now for your past  :)  Do you have any  Entourages who don't need a personal character sheet?  Can we keep their details on your sheet so we can recreate them if we need to?  Who can you offer up to my night of the long knives?.

PM me, and we can sort it out.

Re: OOC 3

I meant to say that I have opened a Wizard's Guild thread -  note that this isn't just for wizards.  While other casters are always welcome to visit,  the Guild is primarily for Academic Casters (Int and Spell book) of all types - and (in game terms) is a spell sharing society.

Wizards,  Magi, Academic Adepts (and any other spell book using class) are all welcome to come and share their spell books to be able to learn spells from the 'Collective Spell Book'

Non Casters are encouraged to donate any spell books they find, for the good of the nation as a whole  ....

Re: OOC 3

Followers have always been a bit of a strange beast.  While their levels and numbers are described in detail -  what they are isn't :) Just about the only description in the feat itself is

quote:
You attract followers to your cause and a companion to join you on your adventures.

In another section of the Rules Books  (I can't remember exactly where) it talks about political/philosophical followers.  It also talks about sharing information and favours etc -  BUT that is primarily for DM guidance.

In these rules, I have stolen the Followers section - and given them to everyone for free.  Every time you start a business, you get nameless people to run it for you - these are some of your lower level 'followers'.  Your entourage-assistants / cousins / allies are your higher level (named) followers ...

Taking Leadership means you can recruit more entourages than other characters.

quote:
(Characters who take the leadership feat may use their Leadership(Followers) score instead of their level when calculating the number of Entourages they can recruit. This effectively means you can have half your character level + 2xCharisma Modifier entourage members)

Some of them work for you, some are allies, some are tied to you with family bonds -  some might be complete outsiders who deal with you and your businesses / estates regularly.

Now if, for example, WSM had a serai close to the area where you think your dragon is, Dom would be able to ask there for information, and perhaps get a more reliable source of information.  Unfortunately, WSM doesn't have a presence there.

Re: OOC 3

I have been working on this page for a while, it gives some idea of the magic suppliers in Tusk Midmarch. FYI, you can get just about any MW or Mundane item  now, and most minor magic items.  Some items will take longer to arrive than others, because they aren't produced in our Region - while not listed in detail, those restrictions are implied on this page  :)  Magical Items that can be crafted  in Southern are generally available in 24 hours or so.  Many are available immediately.  Items ordered can take a few weeks to arrive, and probably arrive after you go adventuring, BUT will be available before your next trip.

If you intend to go into the crafting business, I will note that there aren't any boot makers, or milliners in tusk  :)

I will add a few more suppliers over the next few days and (hopefully) get some standard stock lists sorted.

Re: OOC 3

FYI, this weekend is a public holiday in the UK -  and I am going away to play pirates!  Probably leaving Thursday, back Tuesday - and very little internet in the 1750s.

BTW, It has reminded me of why you should all have a Squire or Armiger to look after your adventuring gear.  I have just spent nearly an hour working on two pairs of boots and a belt.  It is a good job that I have given up the melee side of re-enactment.  Then I would have had to prepare my Hide Shirt, checked my Helmet and Bracers - and then carried out maintenance on my Sword and Half-Pike.

Better to get a servant to do it for you!

I should really do my cartridge case next, and check on my musket ...

Re: OOC 3

Okay, first question; it seems that according to these rules you have removed the part of the Leadership feat that allows you to have more total Entourage-Assistants (per your previous modification of the Leadership feat). Is that intended? If so, then does that mean that "all" the Leadership feat gives you now is a cohort? That's not necessarily a bad thing, but does neuter the feat from it's original form.

Can entourage allies be advanced to Cohort or minor Cohort through trait or Feat? Do we have to spend 2 bp IN ADDITION to the trait/feat to do so?

Re: OOC 3

I would assume you'd have to "repay" the BP the ally brought with them, if by advancing them to cohort or minor cohort you free up an ally slot. Otherwise the trick would be to make someone an ally, then "promote" them to minor cohort, then bring on another ally, and so forth, getting "free BP" every time.
