Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Not long after Alisa and Dom’s impromptu wedding in the duelling salon, Bai sends out invites to all of you, to help celebrate that auspicious event at a small soiree in the Mithral Hotel.  While the Mitral isn’t yet on a par with the best hotels in New Steven or Restov, it is certainly the best hotel anywhere in the Southern Region.  Even in normal times there is a Halfling  waiting at the door, to help you arrive – to find the reception desk, understand where the bars are and call someone to help carry your bags.

Inside it is well furnished – the chairs are well padded, tables are well polished and don’t rock and  there are ever-burning torches to help keep the public rooms lit.  Dark panelling and well-made tapestries decorate the walls, except for where wide windows allow the light into the rooms.  Even the bedrooms are well appointed with personal wash stands, a decent sized chamber-pot and maid service to make sure that both are in a proper state.   It is a well-appointed hotel.

You are shown into a large room, again panelled with tapestries and lit by ever-burning torches, where a string quartet as playing soft background music.  Servants, hotel staff supplements by people in the livery of House leMaistre circulate carrying trays filled with  glasses of wine or small pastries.

OOC1:

I will open up a couple of other rooms as people start to arrive, which will facilitate smaller conversation groups.

This is not a place for arms or aemour, but for your best clothes.  Court or Noble apparel if you have it – Sunday best if you don’t.

Both Lord Henry and Lady Bai are there, as is Lord Cyrus and Lady Valoria – all dressed in tasteful ‘Nobles’ Clothing.  Sir Borric and Marriam of Iomedae’s Mission arrive together – and Marriam wears a fairly plain white dress, set off with a sash of her clan’s tartan.  Rikka, Tib, Abbess Beatrix and Brother Bart are all in attendance.

OOC2:

This is a Fuzzy opportunity for everyone to mix and socialise.  It is an opportunity to chat across groups and for the new PC (yes, you are invited) to meet some of the more established PCs.

I know that parties are a bit boring and repetitive, but (in this case) it is a good way to get to meet new people.  I am open to suggestions for other Fuzzy threads, if anyone has any ideas.

Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Alisa Medvyed-Solanus was not in her element.   Here at this hotel, there was almost a sense she was living someone else's life.

It wasn't that she was not happy.  Some men might have been outraged at what she'd pulled at the dueling salon.  Fortunately, Domitius was not 'some men.' And far from the wagon wreck such a situation could have been, she'd instead gotten a proposal that was one she would someday delight in retelling to the little one she carried.

In the impromptu service at the salon, all she'd had to do was be honest, speak her heart, and be herself.   It had all been very simple and straightforward, if not easy.  Whereas this, where she was now, was easier, but not so simple and straightforward.  What would people expect of the lady of the newly christened Medvyed-Solanus?  Moreover, who was she? The pat answer was of course herself --  and yet there was a small, niggling doubt that whispered oh so persistently 'that isn't going to work.'

The gown she had planned and ordered for the official ceremony was not yet finished.  On this short notice, she had opted (and had been fortunate to be able to obtain) something serviceable in traditional bridal white. She didn't feel comfortable in big, flaring court gowns, and by virtue of being the bride, could get away with a different sort of cut.  Her hair was freshly washed, worn loose and arranged over the front of one shoulder.   A yellow blossom adorned it --  with the pure white of her hair, it was intended to betoken the sun-moon theme she'd instigated at the service.

Ah, the holy symbol -- it could have been a point of indecision.  But it had not been.   Amidst other uncertainties, Acavna's silver, crossed spears and lunar sigil was a cornerstone for all of which she was certain.  In this day and age, few knew who and what it represented anyway. It could easily be construed as mere accessory by those who didn't know her.

She took a breath, centered herself, relaxed as much as possible.  Formality or no, she was going to have some degree of fun, she was determined. And even more so to see to it that Domitius did.  Acavna knew, the sweet, darling and daring man had more than earned it...

One last edit, here..  I've had a time with this sort of regency style dress code in a medieval like setting, this still isn't quite it, but we will stop here...

Domitius looked himself over in the mirror, he wore his full dress uniform without the blade that usually hung by his side.  A short waisted jacket with lapels and cuffs in Aldori blue, a new sash, purchased that afternoon in the tartan of House Medvyed to honour his new in-laws.  He had contemplated wearing the kilt but decided on the more familiar trousers.  Hanging around his neck he had Iomedae's holy symbol.  He adjusted it slightly to fall in the centre of his chest.

"Well old friend, this morning I was set to duel the Mayor and now I'm having a wedding party, I would suspect Iomedae has been conspiring with Shelyn if I was a suspicious man." he said to Barbatius who had been assisting him prepare.  "I suspect mother will be upset to miss the first wedding, but I am sure she will forgive me in time. I hope."

Barbatius smiled and nodded then added "Your sister on the other hand is going to kick your butt."

"Ha! She can try! Domitius retorted "Now you best get yourself ready while I join my lady wife, wouldn't do to keep her waiting on our wedding day."

Bai had given great thought to her clothing for the soiree.  It was the bride’s day and at any wedding the bride should not be upstaged, but she still had to maintain her station as the first lady of Midmarch.  She chose her simplest traditional gown -  dusky pink, cut high on her chest with a white and gold trim.  She wasn’t ready yet for the darker colours of dowagers, or even long married women - After all it had only been a few years since her own wedding.  Jewellery was selected with care, it was unobtrusive but obviously expensive if looked at closely, but then there was the tiara.  With a slight shrug, she decided that it was appropriate as a viscountess for her to wear the tiara, but even then she chose the to wear  the least decorated of the three that she possessed.  After all, she kept reminding herself.  It was the bride’s day.

It looks like Andalon has once again dusted off the courtier's outfit he keeps for social occasions - weddings, investitures, feast days and the like.  His dark blue academic robe has white facings with golden key symbols, white shirt, dark blue trousers and buckle shoes. The white cotton headband he wears has a stylised imperial dragon across his forehead, but that is now a familiar sight as it is something he is seldom without. The golden key he normally wears around his neck is replaced by an ornate silver key set with a topaz gemstone.

He has a warm smile and a friendly word of greeting for everyone he meets, and soon has a glass of red wine in hand as well.

Kendrick arrived to celebrate the newlyweds. He stood at the entrance and looked over the crowd. He wore the white military dress uniform of Iomedae's order. A white shirt and matching jacket with black trousers and sash. The short-waist military jacket was trimmed with gold thread on the cuffs, sleeves and collar. His family crest of a wolf head was embroidered in gold thread over his left chest and right shoulder. The familiar medallion of Iomedae hung over the center of his chest. His dagger was sheathed behind his back.

He accepted a goblet of wine as he mingled with the crowd.

Alex saw Kendrick by the door as he entered, and recognised his as one of the few likeminded people here.  There was Cyrus, of course, but he was busy with his wife and doing ‘noble’ stuff, but Kendrick was an old friend.  Her father had given him Nugget, a war horse that she had trained, and she had spent a couple of weeks with them, making sure that the two got along, before returning home.

Then she made he made her way through the crowd.  At 5’4” she would be difficult for him to see, but it was easy to keep track of the tall knight in his smart white uniform.  She wore a simple ankle length dress,  it was pale green and was decorated by a few cross-stich motifs.  Stepping out from the crowd, she approached and called to attract his attention.  “Kendrick.”  Her voice was strong and the call clear as she closed the distance, “How are you?  I am sure father would have sent his best wishes …  actually, I suspect he would have found a reason to come down here himself, if  he had known there was going to be a party.    How’s Nugget?” she asks in a sudden switch away from courtesies.

Kendrick turned to find the person that called his name. He scanned the small group, until he saw the auburn haired woman approach. He quickly lowered his glass, "What a surprise." He quickly recovered his composure, "Lady Ledkno, happy to see you here." He tried to bow gracefully. "I'm sure that the newlyweds would appreciate Lord Ledkno's blessings during this time. I'm well all things considered. We all let out a sigh of relief when the conflict in Brevoy didn't lead to anything major..."

"Nugget? He is doing quite well. He is a formidable force in battle."
Kendrick answered with a smile. "How are you? What brings you to Tusk?"

“Alex.  Alex is fine.”  She says with a slight frown.  “I came down to look at the Kenson ranch.  Always good to keep an eye on the competition,” Then, with an obvious air of satisfaction, she adds  “Not a patch on the stock we produce, of course.  And not up to Zorah’s standards either.”

Draining the last of the wine from her glass, she looks around for a servant, and then takes another glass as it is presented.  “Stopped in to see Bai and the youngster on the way home, and picked up an invite.  Can’t miss a party when it is on your doorstep. Eh? …  Had to pick this dress up in town and they didn’t have time to do much with it.  No chance to get anything more suitable.”  She leans in slightly and confides, “And these bloody shoes are killing me.”

Then, resuming a more public tone, she continues,   “I hear you are Marshal of this place now?  Maybe I should be calling you Lord Kendrick?” She asks with a twinkle in her eye.

Alisa spotted Lord Marshal Kendrick, chatting with the red head, in a sidelong glance and smiled to herself.  She also caught sight of another familiar figure, and opted to make her way over to him.

"Hello Bishop de Lebeda," she hailed him.   He was of course also the Chancellor-Dominus of Tusk.  But herself a cleric, his religious station held greater significance in her perspective.

"A pleasure to see you again.  I wanted to tell you, I was much impressed by your insights and approach at the Midmarch Religious Council.  Your thoughts were both well reasoned, and well presented."

Kendrick didn't take a second glass when the servant switched drinks with Alex. He gave the servant a nod as the servant took his empty glass. He didn't make a comment about the dress. Be it from a fancy shop or otherwise, it seemed the same to him. "Sorry, you should change the shoes if they hurt. It's the same as you would any horse." His betrayed the fact that he would be concerned about proper footwear.

"Please, Kendrick. Lord Kendrick can be reserved for my men and those that seek titles to hide behind. Kendrick is fine between friends." He accepted a few hors d'oeuvres on a plate. He offered an item to Alex, "This is interesting." He said as he picked up an item.

Robert arrives at the celebration dressed in his finest, which at the moment included a short vest in the military style. As the wedding itself had taken place in his (and Lord Adoven's) Sword School it had seemed only right to invite him to the celebration. Adoven had recently gifted him with a new wardrobe 'as befitted his station', which seemed an odd turn of phrase to Robert. Almost as if he were being groomed for something better. When he saw the smiling bride, and the equally joyous expression on the normally dour groom, he left such musings behind him as he went forward to offer his official congratulations to the pair. He nodded to the Bishop as he passed nearby, promising himself to attend services when he wasn't juggling about a dozen responsibilities.

Alex takes the nibble offered to her, and eats it in one mouthful. "That reminds me that I missed lunch."  She looks around to see that the buffet is open.  "Come on, we might be able to get something more filling there ...".  With a glance over her shoulder to Kendick, the horse woman starts to weave her way through the other guests towards the food.

"Greetings to you too, Priestess Medvyed-Solanus, and congratulations again on your marriage. I hope you and Domitius are blessed with a long and happy life together.

"Thank you for your kind words regarding my contribution to that discussion. Lets just say I realised how important it would be to back the winner, but even I didn't realise it was a three horse race. I shall be eternally grateful for Henry's instinct to protect what we have all built here in Midmarch and Tusk.

"New projects?" Andalon responded thoughtfully. "I will tell you where we are up to and you can decide what is new to you.

"The cathedral in Tusk is complete and our bank is well established here too. We have established a regional market already in Cheapside and intend to see that grow to a great market as soon as possible. We have established a shrine at Kunlun in Midmarch and will probably build a chapel there in the next year or so, if Henry is agreeable.

"Beyond that we have no firm plans but I think it would be appropriate to establish a network of other shrines or chapels in other settlements in Midmarch, over time."

"One other idea I have been giving thought to recently is to build a museum here in Tusk - somewhere to collect and display items that remind us of the significant events, battles, journeys and discoveries that have helped to shape Tusk and Midmarch. Perhaps that should be located close to Iomedae's Library in the College District to facilitate study and research?"

Andalon paused and looked at Alisa.

"But what about you? Do you have further plans for Sisters of the Moon, or will you be turning your attention in a different direction now that you are wed?"

She'd gone for something a little more reserved- after all, one didn't go upstage the bride at a celebration of her marriage, after all- but it might have been a little daring, all the same (though it wasn't the most daring dress in her wardrobe by a long shot, that was for certain).  This was Alisa and Dom's party, their occasion, and well... it would be rather rude to try and upstage her family like that.

But still, it was blue, and she felt that she did look pretty good...

Swiping a glass of wine off a passing server's tray, she simply let a breath out- and tried the wine.

...it was an okay vintage- maybe a little too dry, a little too tart- but at least it would keep her from going too deep- and besides, it was usually her time to mingle- that, and maybe see what else was going on and who else was here.

Though she did get a bit of a chill- with Alisa off the market, so to speak, what did that mean for her...?  Thoughts of a day much like this but for her flickered through her mind... and she couldn't say it was altogether unpleasant... but... still...

She would find a nice little space to wait- people were in conversation, and the last thing she wanted to do was just barge in... and people much, much more important than her seemed to be ahead of her.

The half-orc looks impressive.  Not particularly attractive, his tusks and flat nose get in the way of 'attractive', but certainly impressive - tall and well muscled, he fills his traditional style suit very well.

His suit is a bit old-fashioned though, and might even be second hand - and it looks like he has put on a few pounds since it was fitted for him.  But even that is impressive if, perhaps, for the wrong reasons.  It is purple with yellow frogging and trim - Big Job certainly stands out from the crowd.

Alisa listened while the bishop briefly described the church's most recent endeavors. Then smiled again once he concluded.

"I'm most fond of that little library.  For it was there by chance - or maybe providence - that I first met Domitius.  And I agree; a museum nearby would be wonderful!  I very much hope you go ahead with that."    Then answered his question:

"My plan is to continue to expand Sisters, yes.  I somewhat recently acquired an aide whose position it is to manage the business.  She has a better mind and background for it than I do.  Sisters was founded to serve a purpose - beyond magical supply to the community -  and that purpose has not changed with my being wed.  Will never change."  She put her hand over the holy symbol that hung at her throat.

"We are both clerics, bishop, but my situation is much different from yours.  Many consider the goddess I serve to be dead. If they even remember her at all.  But I can attest she still exists, and wields influence.  I will see a temple reared in her name -- that is the purpose and the plan I have held for years, since I first came into her service. To the east of Tusk lie untamed lands which Domitius has plans to civilize.  He suggested the western shore of Lake Silverstep as the temple's locale, and it struck me as very perfect.   Sisters of the Moon is a source of capital for this; as will be any other business I might start."    She smiled a bit diffidently and wryly.

"Dedication and passion aside, and even with Domitius' considerable aid, I'd be a liar to claim I'm not in over my head.  And you are bishop of the most prominent faith and church within these lands.  Needless to say, if at some point you've got any particular advice, then I'm all ears."

Pipre seldom failed to rouse herself from the vapors of her laboratory when she receives an invitation from Bai. She felt she could get away with her peculiarities and sometimes antisocial behavior as long as she kept on Bai's good side. She had no idea if she was managing that, after all.

The knife-edge problem of guessing how she should dress was made harder by the fact that she did not know the bride. In the end she decided to sidestep the question all together and wore a very fine, long-tailed coat with wide lapels and collar, embroidered cuffs, and big shiny buttons. She pulled her ink black hair into a braided and wound bun and gave herself a clean and fresh application of cosmetic. Under the coat is a neck ruff to hold her shirt collar together and up against her neck, an underbust corset, and tight, tailored trousers tucked into expensive leather ankle boots.

She didn't tone down her usual texture of jewelry and piercings. She finalized her look with a fine ebony cane with a hematite hand-cap.

After saying her requisite hellos and nodding to those who needed to be nodded to she dropped off an envelope with the appropriate valet.

Pipre is happy when she has a chance to try the drinks. As suspected the wine was much improved by an infusion of brandy from a flask hidden in her coat. Perhaps she suspected Kiera's expression was from the wine, as well, since Pipre makes eye-contact with Kiera and offers a clandestine pour from her flask. "Good day, I don't believe we've been acquainted. I'm Pipre, nice to meet you."

Deciding that a martial look was appropriate, given his new standing in the community, Adoven, accompanied by his stunning wife, arrived in a carriage. Despite his elevated station, the carriage was unadorned by gilt and brocades, but was nonetheless clean and sharply painted. He decided against an ostentatious display of wealth, just as he downplayed his burgeoning skill as a duelist. His military style short coat was vermillion, with grey trousers sporting a blue stripe. His ruffled shirt was adorned by tasteful jewelry, enhancing the picture he presented without overshadowing his adored wife. He entered the busy party, murmuring to his wife "see? Not too late, but late enough to be noticed and noted. All brides should be the center of attention at their own party, but you shine as a full moon on a cloudless night." They entered the milling crowd, seperating todo their individual hob-nobbing. Adoven drifted towards the military and explorer cliques.

Maple had never worn something so pretty. She'd never worn a dress before, there were always more important things to spend their money on. The pale yellow dress contrasted nicely with the half-elves bluish tinted skin as she wrung her hands in gingham skirt nervously. It was nothing fancy really but to her it was the prettiest thing. Walking in and seeing the nobles and their splendour and glamour she shrunk even further. Did she underdress? Would they even take her seriously? She smiled nervously at her sister and entered the wedding.
They had not been in the area long and figured that the perfect opportunity to make new connections for their plans would be this event. And so she'd left Duke at home to watch the cows and bought a dress. She glanced around and recognized Pipre, curtseying towards the lord in his fancy dress as he came out of his carriage she quickly absconded towards the familiar face.

Minia followed her sister as she often did, looking positively scrubbed. She luxuriated for most of the day, cleaned and washed and combed until she was sure she was looking as well as could be. She'd polished her sword and buckles and boots, she'd braided what hair she had and dressed in a modest but well made dress, looking like a particular favourite lady's maid more than an attendee in her own right.

She felt naked without her weapons or armour, and often clutched at her side as if to rest a hand on her blade only to find an empty scabbard.

When her sister curtsied she went to bow, but remembered herself and curtsied after a moment, the whole motion horrifying to watch.

"So, shall we try and meet these nobles? Together, or separate, you and I?"

She looked to Maple

"Well I certainly enjoyed being late, dear lord husband."

Viktoria was dressed in blue to contrast her husband's vermillion, with a silver belt and necklace both accented in green bloodstone carved in the shape of crabs. Her short hair was up in a chignon (trickery with her shorter locks that might confuse some of those unused to noble ladies' hair,  but not most) and instead of swords and axes she carried a small wood box.

Viktoria moved among the guests with some grace even in these uncertain clothes, a time spent in motherhood and ladyship keenly training her to moved in her skirts, as she separated from Adoven with a peck on the cheek to place box on a side table for Thaddeus. The silver holy symbol of Iomedae was not anything lavish or ornate, the date of the wedding in the duelling salon inscribed on the back in the Brevoy style. But a small gift to the officiate was expected.

A younger, more impetuous Viktoria would have quaffed ale and challenged all and sundry to boasts, challenges of strength and games of words. She'd have intoned the name of Gorum and insisted a wedding without a fight was a dull affair, but the elder Viktoria knew better. Besides, Gorum would have his fill soon enough, and there was always a fight at a wedding anyways.

Filtering to Pipre the Lady of Lodovka-Sud moved beside her former partymate and held out a wine glass just a finger below its normal fullness

"You still have any of the stronger stuff?"

Tatyana stepped into the large hall like she was supposed to be there. Which couldn't have been farther from the truth. But she'd learned that ninety percent of fitting in at things like this was about making everyone believe you belonged. So when she heard of the party of the year to celebrate a wedding, well she wasn't going to miss it, was she?

So she dressed in the best finery she could manage. A low cut strapless number that showed just a little too much cleavage (not to mention thigh and bicep), with a fur cape and matching boots. She even had her nails done and hair died a vibrant shade of purple for the occasion.

So when her eyes met Big Job's she knew her game was up. She rolled them and scoffed, then walked up to the big half-orc and rolled her eyes at him.

"You know, you're making it very difficult to crash the party of the year. Seeing as you know me and almost certainly know I wasn't invited. But it would be just so cliche for us to cause a scene, two half orc fighting as one throws the other one out. So I suppose you'll just have to play along. Want a drink? On me?"

She hoped it was an open bar.

Without a question, she holds out her glass for the addition.

"Heh.  Looks like we already agree about one thing.  I should have brought a little applejack, or something- anything to improve the wine.  I love Ali, I really do, but I wish she would have taken me up on the offer to let the Nectar provide at least some of the booze."

She'd nod, taking a sip of the resulting mix, and nodding approvingly.

"Thanks for that... Kiera's my name- Kiera Raincutter-Solanus.  I think we're kind of competitors, hehe- I run the Nereid's Nectar, out in Lakeside."

She'd give the suited woman a sly grin.

"And I do think I'm more than a little familiar with your place of business, yes."

"Maple, Minia, what a lovely pair of flowers you are. A helianthus and a rhododendron I would say. It's very good to see you." Pipre presents an easy smile.

Pipre turns her head and extends her smile to Vik as well. "Of course, darling. At the very least I could spike a punch bowl by dribbling in it. I won't have to go to those measures, though," she says, emptying more of her flask into Vik's glass. "And how are you and your husband?"

With a good natured laugh Pipre responds to Kiera as well, "No no, I wouldn't consider us competitors. A slackening appetite for one thing can be whetted with the sampling of another. I'm happy just knowing there are enough revelrous people to go around and, in any case, I've been spending more of my time in the laboratory than the Bottled Undine. A master alchemist once said that there is no reward for half-measures in alchemy but a practitioner who masters the art has everything to gain."

Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

"I'm not sure I am supposed to be here, either" Big Job replies quietly "But I know all the top guys well enough that they won't chuck me out. And what is a party without a gate crasher or two?"

Then the half-orc stops a passing server and returns his empty wine glass.  "Bring me a Mug of ale, will you.  I never did go much on wine.  There's not enough of it in the glass.  What do you want, Tatyana?  I am pretty sure they will have it.  Won't you?" He says turning to the hapless waiter, not really giving him a chance to respond. The waiter just nods resignedly.

When Tatyana has ordered, and the waiter has left to collect their drinks, Big Jog starts telling Tatyana who the people are.  "That's Dom and Alisa,  the bride and groom.  It was a bit of a crossbow-wedding.  He was just about to start a duel when she walked in and announced that she was pregnant.  They got married then and there in the duelling salon.  She is a priestess of some dead goddess, and he is a merchant and businessman.

Henry and Bai, they own Midmarch!  I think he was a viscount now.  Nothing but a merchant when he came out here.  She was one of his recruits, who finished up marrying the boss.  He's not a bad sort, he didn't have me killed when he could have.  Gave me this instead."
He holds up his left hand to show a scar in a cross shape. "You should have heard Lex squeal when we was branded," he adds with a chuckle.

"Now that Pipre,  she owns the Bottled Nymph and is my boss.  She is also an alchemist and a city councillor.  She's talking to Kiera, she's a bit of a newcomer, but she has set up a pub called the Nerid's Nectar over in lakeside.  Not as classy as our place, but going along the same sort of lines.

Adoven and Vik are the most successful merchants in the city, and almost as rich as Lord Henry.  Andalon is also on the town council and is Bishop of Abadar's cathedral.

Oh, and I saw Kendrick earlier on.  Marshal-Dominus of the city council.  He went off into one of the quiet rooms with a redhead that I don't know."

When the waiter returns with his ale, Big Job quaffs about half of it down, almost as if all this talking is thirsty work.

Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Only newly arrived in the area, Rana wasn't completely certain whether attending the celebration of marriage for people she didn't know was considered bad form or not.  However, where she was from, everyone in the town would have been welcome at such a celebration - whether they were resident or just passing through - so the decision to attend was made for her.

Rana knew that nothing which she currently owned would be suitable, so she had gone in search of a shop where she could buy something new - or second-hand without spending too much of her savings.  With regard to the fashionability of her choice, she couldn't say for certain, but it fit well, wasn't too expensive (Rana thought it was probably several seasons out of style) and was the most beautiful pale peach in colour.  The dress was high-waisted and straight, the hem skimming the ground without quite touching it, but with enough fabric so that Rana's movement wasn't restricted.  It had a square-necked bodice, which fit snuggly over her chest, but not obscenely so, and the sleeves were cap-style, leaving her arms bare. There were no embellishments on the dress itself, although the only adornment which Rana had let herself be talked into was a contrasting shade of ribbon, which was wrapped around the dress, at the join of bodice and skirt, tied in a small bow.  Rana had been tempted to purchase a pair of light court shoes, but because the dress was floor length she had opted to wear her comfortable riding boots instead.  Rana had toyed with putting her hair up, but had decided on leaving it down, her brown locks flowing in natural waves to just past her shoulders.

It felt like there were butterflies in her stomach as she arrived at the hotel for the party.  Rana was used to meeting and mingling with a variety of people whom she didn't know and did her best to keep reminding herself of this fact and that she knew how to speak to strangers of all stations.  With a deep breath, Rana entered the hotel as if she was supposed to be there and followed the noise to where the party was taking place.  Taking a steadying breath, she opened the final door and entered the room, pausing momentarily on the threshold to take in the scene before her and scanning for anyone she might know.

Luckily one of the wait staff was passing close by, allowing Rana to claim a glass of wine for herself before she proceeded further into the room.  She spied Tatyana and Big Job to one side and decided to make her way over to them.

Her smile shone brightly as she greeted the two of them.  "I love what you've done with your hair, Tatyana.  It suits you."  She turned her attention to Big Job, "Looking good as well."

Adoven spies Robert and crosses over to him. In low tones they greet one another and after a few seconds of conversation, Adoven claps his hand on Robert's shoulder and says "you're doing fine, lad. Try not to be so nervous. Just a couple of years ago, I was of lower station than you'd believe. One day I'll tell you about it, but for now..." He joins Robert in a drink, then shoos him away to mingle. Adoven spots Andalon and saunters over to him. He tells Andalon "Cayden's Blessing on the open bar..." as he spots Alisa standing behind the prelate. "ah, the lovely bride. When I heard what you did in my School, I nearly fell over laughing. I don't think I've ever heard of a duel being stopped so abruptly and uniquely. My congratulations" he says, aware of the double meaning of the phrase. "I couldn't help but hear something of your plans. You plan a venture near Silvertop Lake? I myself hope to establish a keep, possibly a shipyard, in Candlemere. I had wondered if any were going to establish settlements to the east. Save for the cyclopes, I don't know what cities or civilizations exist out that way. Do you?"

She gave another curtsy

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Sorry for length of reply, Adoven, but this was far too perfect not to go here. Alisa pressing her luck a second time, post dueling salon.  ;)

While completing the final two sentences spoken to the bishop, Alisa's eyes had strayed toward the approaching lord of Lodovka-Sud.  And they had widened ever so slightly -- really, she managed a reasonable poker face, considering.

She knew that he and the bishop were associates. Presumed there would be some exchange betwixt the two.  And then was caught off guard when the man conveyed interest in those plans she had spoken of.   Her eyes made a very brief sweep of the room.   It was of course Domitius that they sought.   She did not see him, but --

Acavna!  What if he comes out and sees me --

She snipped that thought; quashed the small anxiety which had kindled it.   Maybe this was an opportunity to begin mending what had been torn-?   She paused a mere second in some little preparation, then:

"Firstly, my congratulations to yourself and lady Viktoria on your own marriage.  I hope you are every bit as happy in your union as I am in mine.   And, I must confess to you...that it is your dueling salon is a fact which somehow escaped me." She smiled, a bit sheepishly.  "I was rather preoccupied with other things, as you know.  And I'm glad to learn you found some humor in it.  Nothing I'll be making a habit of, I assure you.  Ah, yes...those territories to the east...and what and who lies and lives out there." She paused before adding more.

"My husband is the one who might tell you in detail.   It began as his plan, and is still much his plan.  As we grew closer, it was natural to meld my aim for a temple with what he was envisioning.   I am still learning about the area.   The lake itself is said to be fey inhabited; the more kindly sort.   As I understand, there isn't much in the way of civilization.   The cyclops and other threats much discourage it.  Domitius could tell you more."  Right.  Here goes...

"This leads to something I'd like to broach.   There was...an encounter between yourself and Domitius at Rikka's smithy." She made a slight, vague gesture.  "As I was saying to the bishop, my husband's very passionate; much devoted to the Aldori way and its code.  When his honor is offended, that heart of his ignites in the same way it does when he's fighting for justice. Or defending those he loves. Or making love." She smiled, cheeks coloring a little.

"Like Mayor Mordane, and the Bishop, you enjoy a fine reputation for your works. And I -- would like to see the rift between you and Domitius mended.  I know it may be much to ask, I don't know how you feel -- but I am asking for the attempt. If you're willing, it would be the best of all wedding gifts."

"Oh, but of course... but you could say that of any job, really.

And I'm happy you don't see me as a rival, as well... I could see some good-natured competition, but let's not try to drive each other out of the business, hm~?"

She would give the other woman a smirking smile, one with a bit of teeth.

"Though it's a shame you seem to retreat to your workshop so much... you should come out and play sometimes.  After all, all work and no play makes you, well... boring."

She smiled again, and took a sip of her glass, making some approving noises.

"I ought to sell something like this at the Nectar.  Maybe something like a strawberry or cherry wine, blended with a bit of something fruity... maybe call it a Red Feather, after someone I used to know.  You wouldn't happen to have something in stock I could beg, borrow, or steal to experiment with, hm~?"

She watched the alchemist, smirking into her glass as she sipped again.

"...I wish I had your supplies, though.  And a vineyard and a brewery..."

She was acting wistful, at this point, but she would quickly return to herself.

"...maybe they have something more solid over at the bar.  Maybe some place to talk, hm~?  After all, we've got so much in common, I hear... an interest in drinks, having fun, former employers- though mine still seem to be out there.  If you have the time, I suppose I could use your advice on that..."

"Lake Silverstep? Yes, that would be an excellent place for you and Domitius, both for his stronghold and your temple of Acavna. The mountain range east of the lake is the border between Midmarch and Varnhold. There is a pass through the mountains a little further north where Viscount Henry has recently established Eastgate, so you may have an opportunity for trade with Varnhold as well as still being closely allied with Midmarch."

Andalon paused and looked at Alisa as he finally understood the last part of what she had said, then he glanced at Adoven to see how that request was received.

"This does seem like a perfect time for a fresh start," he suggested softly.

"I beg you not to take it the wrong way! His honor means so much to him! It connects so strongly with what he wants and plans to do.  I am gladdened to know there is no issue on your side.  While I don't presume to speak for him, I will say that in a way, as with the mayor, I believe it indicates he respects you as a peer.   He only takes umbrage with those who are well trained swordsmen - unfortunately - and themselves have some sense of honor. He's a diehard dueling enthusiast, not a bully or thug. I think, you know - a punch in the arm, telling a joke, lifting an ale together - it might be all it would need?"

Adoven's gentle smile curves upwards at the apology of a woman who had no need of such a thing. He nods. "While I do fancy myself a swordsman, I've little need to challenge for the title Sword Lord. As for my honor? I'll concede it means little to me outside of my reputation as an honest merchant. That may be why I don't understand or empathize much with those who place so much weight in it. I think I'm doing quite well, as far as honor is concerned, for someone whose parents..." Adoven glances around, then pitches his voice low so as to only be heard by Alisa and Andalon. Alisa smiled in return to Adoven, no little relieved.

As to the matter of his parents' profession, it certainly wasn't her nature to hold the choices and actions of anyone's forbears against them.   House Lodovka of course was located up north.  It didn't surprise her that lady Viktoria's husband's roots might originate up that way as well.  As piracy did infer to her the north, what was once Issia.

"It'll be kept hush hush, sir, no worries as to that." She put a finger to her lips for emphasis.

"And bishop, I'm glad you like the choice of the temple's proposed locale.  I can so clearly see it there, in my head, with a moonlit lake Silverstep as backdrop. A design has been rendered, with which I'm quite pleased.   Acavna is a goddess of Defense, and the moon her sigil.   Thus the temple will be a defensible bastion, in shape of the crescent moon. A place of succor and sanctuary."    Alisa explained in brief...

Domitius entered the main salon with his entourage in tow,

Barbatius had mirrored his own Aldori formal wear, black jacket with blue lapels and cuffs lightly braided in silver.  Black trousers with a blue stripe down the outside blousered into polished black boots. He was smiling broadly as he followed Domitius into the room.

Tic wore his church clothes as he referred to them a dark blue jacket worn over a frilled white shirt and red three quarter length pants his bare feet luxuriating in the wool of the carpet.  His eyepatch worn over the left eye as he peered around the room.

Hargrym wore the white of the Silverhammer clan, an older style his jacket stopping just above the knee his beard tied into a formal braid with silver ornaments woven into it.  his waistcoat was heavily embroidered with a hammer and anvil motif.  The usually stern Hargrym had a playful glint in his eye and a smile on his face.

Brother Thadeus wore the formal robes of one of Iomedae's priesthood, a long white robe slit at the sides to allow for ease of movement, a wooden holy symbol hung from his neck, intricately carved a gift from one of his students at the temple complex.  he reached up and tucked an errant lock of hair behind his slightly curved ear.

As a group they paused Domitius raising an eyebrow as he spotted his wife then with a word the group moved to spread out into different parts of the hotel as per their want.  Domitius moved to join Alisa, Adoven and Andalon.

"My lords, my lady wife it is a pleasure to see you on this blessed day."  He moved to stand next to Alisa taking her hand and raising it to his lips.  "I hope you are both well."

"My dear sword-squire," she addressed the latter, "I nearly did not recognize you! In such dashing attire, and with that radiant smile.  Best be careful, sir. Lest you imperil your own bachelorhood."

She nodded to their two guests, "My lords, you will find warmest welcome at our gates, whether the reason be social or more serious."   She scrunched her lips.  "Eh, once we have gates, I mean.  Just a bit of building, to be done yet..."

Barbatius pulled at the neckline of his shirt "Thank you my lady and if I may say you look beautiful yourself.  Shame about the groom."  He said with a wink of his own.

Domitius merely sighed and shook his head at his squires antics before shooing him away.  "Indeed my lords you will be welcomed at Silverstep once we have settled there.  We haven't had much of a report on the land I'm afraid but I have heard that the fishing is good and the Gudrin is navigable to the Tuskwater indeed Lord Kendrick and I have plans to fortify the crossings along the Gudrin to defend our southern flank.  The temple to Avacna with be just as important as our own stronghold I just hope we find suitable land much like here in Tusk.

The merchant responds "the haunted keep? Aye, that would be my primary choice is we could lay those unquiet spirits to rest. I have no superstitions about bad luck regarding the area, and physically it is an ideal location to defend Midmarch's southern flank from. A keep and a Naval Base were what I had in mind, with regular river patrols to keep the waterways free of piracy. I know others have also stated desires for the land, but frankly I doubt they have the resources to compete with V&A, nor the vision to make the best use of it."

She laughed merrily at the notion of Tic's patch being no more than an affectation - wondering if it were so - as well as Barbatius' ribbing of Dom.  Who looked fantastic in his suit, as usual.

"Hm. The tower of Candlemere isle, eh?  Dom, I didn't know you'd ever been out there. It's reputation for being haunted is well known, much spoken of.  It's some rather brazen spirits that put on such hard to miss light shows, that's for certain.   Of course, a haunting is possible.  And yet - it might instead be a display something else uses to discourage visitors. Fey, for instance, sometimes use such tactics."   She shrugged.

"I'd think the company of both a mage and a cleric would be called for, for any serious exploration there."

Adoven chuckles. "If the wights and will-o-wisps we fought weren't bad enough, there was also an undead swarm to deal with.  We already had Andalon with us, but he was unable to free the spirits from their turmoil. That's why I was hoping to take another run at the island to see if it could be purged. This time with holy water and preparations. I wonder if establishing a Shrine or other sanctified place on the shore might allow us to establish a beachhead against the undead there?"

Alisa too joined the toast - though being pregnant, it was merely water within her glass  "I had no idea the undead presence had been first hand experienced there, and that someone I know rather well had been part of the expedition.  That it should be cleansed does go without saying.  And, I concur with Domitius; Pharasma's church would likely be the most ideal source of aid for something like that."

She caught sight of Kiera across the distance, in her striking blue gown - did her best to give her a wave and a wink that could be seen.   She noted the Nereid's proprietor was in conversation with a woman whom Alisa almost felt she should know, for some reason.  Which was odd...because she was certain she'd never seen her before.  Yet something about her rang a bell...

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Andalon smiled at Alisa's admiration of her husband's adventures. He decided this was as appropriate a time as any for re-telling a little more of that story.

"The island is heavily vegetated so it took us quite a while to cut a path up to the top of the hill where there the tower-house is the only building still standing. Inside we found some sort of undead spirit - a woman with her head half severed from her neck. The sight of her evoked a great sense of fear in us although we all held our resolve. She floated up to the ceiling and turned into a gaseous fog that seeped away through cracks in the ceiling. Finding the place haunted and feeling the evil of the place strengthening as night fell we left the building then. Outside, within the area marked by the low boundary wall of the settlement, we were attacked by a direbat ghoul and two swarms of stirges! With a pair of will-o-wisps floating in the air nearby as though savouring the fear and pain of that confrontation. We finally defeated the ghoul and stirges but they very nearly killed Silvius and Quinn, and left Silvius, Quinn and Domitius afflicted with a deadly disease called a blister phage. Fortunately, by the grace of Abadar, I was able to cure them over the next few days on the way home.

"Afterwards, I was able to determine that the tower-house itself is evil, not just the undead inside it. It is as though there is some sort of evil necromantic force throughout the whole building. I think that spirit we saw is some sort of manifestation of that force, perhaps not a separate undead creature at all. That direbat ghoul, too. Even the disease that afflicted Quinn, Domitius and Silvius.

"Dealing with that manifestation of evil is not a mission to be undertaken lightly, but it is certainly something we should aspire to do. If that island can be cleansed and made safe the potential benefits are very significant."

Alisa listened with rapt attention, as the bishop elaborated on what had occurred out there.   Midway or so, her lips parted in something like mild horror.  And by the point Andalon reached the bit about the disease, she slapped her free hand lightly to her forehead.

"And you forgot to mention this one?" she glanced to Dom, in some incredulity. "No wonder you speak of that sheet phantom like a joke.  Compared to this, it is a joke!"

But she grew serious after that, shaking her head; loathing visible in her eyes and expression.    "So much corruption.  If it remains confined to the isle, that's some blessing.  Yet its existence is an awful, ongoing danger, regardless."    She paused a moment.

"Bishop, that Pharasman priest who was at the religious council -- the big, bear of a man -- Ethankos, I think, is the name?  Do you know him? Has this ever been mentioned to him?  The lingering dead are the specialty of his sect. I've heard there are even necromancers in service of Pharasma, who work only to lay the undead to rest, not make more."

"Oh, and there's also the inquisitor, Marceline, who serves that goddess."

Perhaps our Lord Bishop here should take it to the religious council or would you prefer yon firebrand over there does."

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

"Well, to preface my answer, I should first mention my training, as a cleric, was a little unconventional.  Less formal, compared to your own, I'm fairly sure. So I'm far from the religious scholar some are.   But interesting you should bring that up...because it does seem something of a gap, in the present day, doesn't it?   Desna is a goddess of all things celestial, to a degree -- but more closely related with the stars. And," she frowned, in some distaste, "the moon is sometimes associated with a few of the more malign gods, in sinister and usually informal way.   Which I believe comes from the superstitions of mortal kind, more so than any true divine connection."     She had another sip of her water.

"There is however an Empyreal lord -- or rather lady -- Ashava. Who it is said seeks out lonely ghosts who have become lost, and directs them to safety. The moon, I understand, is held as her guiding light for them, through the dark of night.   But there is yet the lack of any prominent, dedicated lunar god, so far as I know. And I believe that stems from Acavna having once held that place - and not being quite wholly gone."

"Ashava? Yes, I have heard of her. She doesn't like Abadar," Andalon responded distractedly as that triggered a chain of other thoughts.

"Oh, of course, 'Moon' is one of the subdomains! I am ashamed to admit I was not a good student when the subdomains were being discussed. There were just so many of them and all too often I just drifted off in those lessons.

"Let me see, I think there was another deity who is worshipped by lunatics and lycanthropes - not an aspect of the moon that would be associated with your goddess, of course.

"There was a story about an Elvish god who hunts in the forests by moonlight. What was his name? Ketephy? Something like that.

"I suppose there may be a number of other deities connected to the moon in other pantheons, too. Perhaps other races have their own moon deities that we don't even know about? That might be something for you to think about, though. You might find other deities with similar interests to those of Acavna and that might provide some common ground for friendly relationships with their followers. Well, that might just be something to watch for in future, I suppose."

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Alisa was surprised and a little concerned that there might be some issue between the Empyreal godling she mentioned and Abadar.  The last she wanted, in her position, was to give the highest ranking clergyman in Tusk offense. She attempted to rationalize the possible reason:

"I...am surprised to learn that. Lord Abadar and Ashava govern such different spheres, and she is so less renown than he; I find it curious they've intersected at all.  Of course, Ashava is of the Azata - who do lean to chaos.  And great Abadar is a god of strong order and law."

She smiled wryly on the subject of lycanthropes and loons. "I suppose some might consider a being who throws themselves in front of a meteor swarm to be something of a lunatic.  But one with the staunchest resolve, courage, and compassion, I would point out. It is certainly why I serve and honor Her."    She made Acavna's symbol with her free hand, for emphasis.

She also added "Surely, inasmuch there is more than a single solar deity, no one god would lay sole claim to the moon, either. It is only my hunch -  but I suspect facets of our universe, like the sun and moon, are used as a focal point, or conduit, by those gods whose natures match them."    She smiled on the matter of so called 'sub-domains.'

"You're losing me there, bishop!  I think I may practice a pair of them -- yet if you asked me to name them, much less any others, I'd be at a loss.   Someday, I hope to grasp such things better."

To Domitius- "You've made mention of Ketephys before, and his honored place in your life. I only know of him from overhearing a conversation betwixt hunters at an inn. I'd love to learn more. In the Medvyed lands, it is Erastil who patrons hunters, and is the most broadly worshiped of gods."

"I've been researching into starting my own little winery somewhere- anything to get a friendly edge on the Den and the Nymph-" at which point she'd sneak a wink at Pipre- "-and if you both are willing, well... maybe we can come to an arrangement?  Come by the Nectar sometime, the both of you, and we'll see if we can come to some kind of agreement between the three of us to try and pull something off.  If you two want a chance to prove yourselves, who am I to judge, hm~?"

"And as for you..."  she says, turning to Pipre, "It's a pleasure to meet you- but truly, you must come out of that basement more often.  A rose such as yourself is more suited to the open air instead of always working her petals off, hm~?"

Stepping closer, she'd whisper a quick message to the woman, and then step back, a hint of a rosy blush on her face.

She'd take a step back and wait a few seconds for an opening- and then plusk the glass from her hand before lifting said hand to her lips for a quick kiss, returning the glass and offering a smile, before stepping away.

"...come by the Nectar sometime for a drink, hm~?"

With that, she'd be walking off towards the couple of the evening, with a bit of a grin.

Smiling at Ali again, she turns to the bishop.

"Well, the trip was nice enough- found a few things I didn't even know I was looking for when I got there, but I'm kind of happy to have them- things you don't get a lot of out in the wilderness.  I daresay working for the betterment of Midmarch and its people is much better than just living hand-to-mouth hunting deer and skinning- certainly running the Nectar agrees with me more than doing that, as well.

But yes, I am keeping myself busy, too- heading out when I need to and working on a few projects for myself, as well.  I mean, I only get so much time, so why waste it sitting around when I could be doing something I've always wanted to?  I like running the Nectar, I like running around with my friends, well... maybe this is a lust for life that I was missing, I suppose.  The Lady in the Room does work in mysterious ways, I think- not that I'm complaining, mind you...

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Alisa Medvyed-Solanus:
She glanced to the girl.  "Minia.  That's a good name.  Like the river bird?"

Minia looked a little taken aback, and had to think for a moment

"I suppose I am. My mother named me, said it was a pretty name. I'd imagine the bird's pretty too?"

Minia smiled at Alisa

"Congratulations again, your ladyship, on the wedding."

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Andalon looked more than a little puzzled by Alisa's cryptic comment about Brother Florin.

"Lord Kendrick's aide? I would have thought Zack Malford would have been too busy running Winters Wares & Spices for him to have had time to spare for a journey to Restov."

"Yes! Congratulations on your marriage Lady Alisa" Maple parroted her sister, nodding in acknowledgement at Andalon as he came closer. "It is a lovely bird. They build these domed nests to protect their eggs and some of them eat algae" Maple informed her sister excited to share any nature based information when she could.

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

"Eh, I've worked in the field with Lord Kendrick, and Domitius is in business with him, but I'm not familiar with his staff, and their titles.  I do not know sir Malford.  Not by name, anyway. There was a young lady - Mikki, I think? - who appeared to work for him, and was with us in Restov," she let the bishop know.

She nodded to the girls, "It is a pretty bird; and does indeed build a domed nest. And thank you both - but please, I prefer simply Alisa; I grew up on a ranch holding, my own family is distant, very minor nobility." She indicated their surrounds, with a brief gesture, "This is all very lovely, I'm grateful to the mayor - but it's not what I'm used to."

She again regarded the girl in the yellow dress. "I hope this isn't too forward of me to ask - and please don't feel obliged to answer, if so.  But I was wondering, are you descendant of the aquatic elves?"

"A ranch eh? what type of livestock did yer family own?" the girl asked excitedly but then came the question of her lineage "Our, um Pa he spent some time with my ma before he met our  mother. She didn't like that I couldn't breath underwater like her but mother always treated me like her daughter and she gave me Minia"

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

"Well distant minor nobility then, there may be hope for you yet, Alisa. But Maple and I didn't have no livestock and prospects, or education in fine-looking riverbirds."

Minia's eye settled back to their characteristic glare at the mention of Maple's descent, and she kept her tongue only so long as Maple explained. She seemed to shift between her sister and Alisa slightly. The short-haired urchin, though the younger of the siblings, seemed much older and world-weary than her sister, and it wasn't just that one of them was human and the other half-elven

"My sister and I are family. Siblings truer than most, after our mother and father were killed-"

She looked around, momentarily aware she was in finer settings

"-but that's . . . not appropriate for a wedding. My apologies my lady, I have . . . rough manners. A poor upbringing."

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

Alisa shook her head.   "I'm so, so sorry to hear of you loss," she supplied, after inadvertently bringing up such a painful memory.    "And I apologize for strirring it up.   But, I'm glad you have each other. Sometimes, all it takes is one other person who sincerely cares, to get through the very worst."  Her expression shifted a little.

"Aye - I had it better than most, I know that.  I grew up in comfort, was educated as you say, and did not have to toil.  Still, my family had its own tragedy. The sort that killed a man's spirit, if not his body. Pain is universal -- it is, I'm afraid, the price of life.  No one lives free of it -- only a question of how much."

"Anyway, you've no need to apologize -- and drop the 'lady,' please. I don't give two possum shits how polished your manners are, if that helps."   She said to Minia. Then to Maple:

"Mostly, it was sheep, grazed out in the hills and mountains.  Some cattle, not a lot.   It was, in many ways, a nice medium between nature and civilization.  I miss that  --  but, I have little to do with my family and their land, anymore.   So, you don't breathe water, were not raised by such elves.  This may be an odd question -  but, I don't suppose you've had experience with fae, the sort that live in or around lakes?  Or perhaps water elementals?"

"A young lady called Mikki?" Andalon responded softly and thoughtfully to the information Alisa provided. Brother Florin might not know it yet but there might be an embarrassing conversation ahead.

Andalon listened attentively to the discussion between the three young women.

"If I may make a suggestion, Maple and Minia, you might like to visit the Dragon's Den sometime and introduce yourselves to the Roth family there. You might find you have enough in common to build upon," he suggested quietly.

Maple held Minia's hand gentley. Her sister was very protective of her"I might know a bit. The old man who taught me, he knew a lot. Mostly told me to stay away from stray horses, watch for washer women, remeber to give them gifts or they'll cause all forms of trickery. That sort of thing. Is there anything specific I can help you with Alisa ?" She listened to Andalon "The dragons den? That might be a stop for us then. Thank you kindly preacher"

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

"Oh, you're no fun~."

Kiera gives Ali a grin as she says it- it's clear she was only joking, before responding to Andalon.

"Oh, I know- I mean, a few years ago, I was living hand-to-mouth hunting out in the forest and dodging bandits.  Now I have a family and my own roadhouse and more than I ever dreamed.  Standing around might only get you so far, you know?"

But then she'd turned quiet and listened to Maple and Minia's story, and she'd shake her head.

"...I kind of know what a little of that is like.  I grew up on my own, raised by a bunch of fur trappers and traders living out in the woods, dodging bandits.  About all I know of my parents is one was fey-blooded- that's it.

...it's not a great way to grow up, is it?  But you'll find your way around here- if they'll give me a shot, then you both shouldn't have a bit of trouble finding something to do, or a place to stay- and if you run into that, come find me at the Nectar, out in the Lakeside district.  I have a few rooms upstairs I can take off the menu as long as you both need.  Might be a little noisy, but if you need a place to sleep until you both get on your feet, they're yours if you need them.

Just find what you're both good at, and do it.  The people here are pretty accepting- let's face it, if they'll let me make something of myself here, well... you two could become queens or something."

She gave them both a grin.

"But less talk of dark things in the past- so, when can I expect to become Auntie Kiera, hm~?"

She cocks her head and gives Alisa a slightly-less-than-innocent grin.

"No fae, no water weirds. But we killed a dragon comin' here."

Minia straightened her back up slightly, as if to appear more impressive.

"Didn't have much of a hoard, mind you. Not much of a dragon . . . no wings. Special, I'd wager. Black it was, with these little horns . . . "

Minia nodded to Andalon's suggestion

"And who're the Roths? We're always open to finding more contacts for our farming and such, my sister has . . . great plans, so to say."

She nodded as well to Kiera

"I'm sure we will take advantage of such generosity at some point, but my sister and I have a perfectly usable hovel on the edge of town. Cozy, warm and dark, with some fields. But the Nectar shall be a place to call in on when in town, and we'll be glad to work with you. I've little I'm good at . . . save swordcraft."

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

"I'm no fun?" Alisa laughed, gestured over her yet flat stomach.  "Then how is it you are going to be auntie Kiera, eh? We are all in for something of a wait yet, any case; still got the better part of eight months to go," she winked.

"I got acquainted with one of the Roths, just recently," commented Alisa to the sisters, supporting Andalon's suggestion.  "If the others are like her, then they are wonderful people. And, the Nereid is lovely - I can barely keep my own aide out of the place. Not that I try."

She was unclear what the dragon-like creature they encountered may have been, and could offer no input.   She said to Maple:

"I'm planning some construction along a lake; Silverstep, to be exact.  And, I've come to understand it is inhabited by water dwelling fae. The better sort. In doing so, I do not wish to annoy or anger any.  If possible, I'd like to befriend them; or at the least, have a harmonious neutrality. This is someways down the road, yet; not the immediate future.  But, I am thinking ahead, and looking for a sort of emissary, or at least an advisor.  I would pay that person, and work with them, of course."

In reply to Minia (msg # 100):

"The Roth family own the Dragons Den inn and Roths Brewery here in Tusk and I think they have built a hopyard somewhere up north in Midmarch, too. There are two brothers and one sister, and the wife of one of the brothers. I believe they were adventurers before they arrived here a few years ago and decided to settle down here," he explained.

Re: Fuzzy: The Wedding Party

At Ali's idea, Kiera grew quiet- well, quiet for her.  It seemed to spark an idea in her, and she tapped her lips with a finger as she thought.

"...you know... maybe I ought to go do something personal, too- for myself.   Something I've been meaning to do, but just was kinda too scared to do it, you know?  I mean, you and Dom got married... Sting, you're expecting- maybe I ought to take the next step, too.

...how fast do you need someone to go down there and deal with them?  If it's still a ways off yet..."

She takes a deep breath.

"...I was thinking of going to visit that fey colony up near Hunters' Rest, if it's okay.  I doubt I'd ever really have any luck actually finding my parent, but... it's a half of myself I don't know anything about.  Maybe at the very least, I can get some things to think about and consider.  But I figure I'll check in and make sure it's actually okay for me to go before I just up and vanish and leave the Nectar to Rila for a week and some.

I just need answers on some things, and how to embrace that part of me.  It just feels like a whole different side of me that I have no idea how to understand... and maybe once I start tugging, it'll help me to understand a lot of things."

She nodded, "It's definitely quite a ways off. As for Hunter's Rest -- I mean, I don't think you need anyone's permission to do anything.   I can wholly understand your interest -- and maybe, you would learn something about your heritage.  But, are you saying you plan to go by yourself?  I think that's an incredibly bad idea!  Even the better fey can be capricious at times.  And the worst are nightmarish.    You will not go alone.  We of Medvyed* are known to have some affinity with them; it's our heritage.  Maybe it's why you and I get on well," she smiled.  "Let me go with you.  Domitius too, I think, if he's got no conflicting plans." She looked back toward her husband, with a question mark glance.

"Even if you want to make the approach by yourself - which could be understandable - let someone else be nearby, at least, in case you get into trouble."

*And Alisa has the trait to back it up.

"I wouldn't mind going too Kiera, if you'll let me. I can help you with the meeting Alisa I'm real good at sitting still and waiting and watching, thats what you need to let them come out, that and a gift like strawberries, or bluebells, or a song. They love those sorts of things"
Willow thought for a moment about what Andolan said. It could be interesting to meet some more hard working folk. Perhaps a skill trade would benefit their goals. "We most defintly have to talk to them then!"

Alisa inclined her head in respect to Maple's offer, for her own goal.  "Thank you.  Some ways in the future, much planning to do yet, but we shall speak of it again.   Meanwhile..."  She glanced again to Kiera.

"Don't go alone, I say again, if it bears repeating.  More than one wishes to support you, now," meaning Maple.  "Take at least one, if not more.   Now, excuse me a moment - there's something I need to do."

So said, Alisa went across the room and retrieved a wrapped and ribboned box.   With it in hand, she made her way from the main hall, to the reception area.

"...we're not done talking about this, Ali.  But tonight's your night, so go do what you have to."

Kiera would smile mildly, and then toss back the last of the drink in her hands, sighing out loud, closing her eyes as she shook her head.

"...and I'll do what I have to, I guess."

She'd set down her glass, and when things were clear, bid her goodnights.
