Cyrus takes another big swing at Adoven but something feels off.

Adoven artfully dances aside when Cyrus threatens with his heavy blade. The merchant continues to infuse his strikes with arcane power as they burn through Cyrus's defenses.

The two men continue to trade blows but unable to get through each others defense, Adoven slips a strike through with his dagger which causes Cyrus to wince in pain.  The fight seems in the balance at this point.

Noticing that his nimble moves are giving him a narrow advantage over the power of Cyrus's heavy blows, Adoven bobs and weaves as he presses his attacks. Adoven's dagger cuts the arm bearing the buckler, while his rapier presses forward to the chest of his foeman.

Cyrus took another swing but missed once again.

Adoven explodes into action, his rapier seems to weave around Cyrus defence as if alive and strikes a serious blow to the Lord of Ringbridge.

Cyrus felt so mad, swing after swing felt so awful and add to that the pain from
Adoven’s blades striking true. He was so mad he swung wildly again and almost through the blade down in frustration.

He gathered himself and readied himself to be knocked out by the next blow from his opponent.

Having seen the brutal nature of the contest between Cyrus and Domitius, Adoven knows that Cayden's Luck was with him this day. With practised style, he moves in to finish this match with a classic riposte. The dagger is a clean miss, but the rapier strikes true.

As Cyrus drops to the floor Domitius signals Thaddeus in for a quick couple of healing spells.  "Congratulations Adoven on your victory, that's one for each of us." Dom said clapping him on the shoulder.  "I thought he had you at first but you fought back well."

Adoven nods, but says "I got lucky. I saw the power behind the blows he landed on you. So, will we three face off against Cass and Kendrick later?"

When Cyrus awakens, Adoven offers him a hand up, saying "this wasn't really fair to you. You must have still been tired from your earlier bout with Domitius", offering the Lord of Ringbridge at least a face-saving excuse.

Cyrus smiled at Adoven and said, "Ah, everyone has a bad day. I'd rather do it here with practice blades than on the battle field. I'll have to redouble my efforts to get back into battle shape before I head out again."

As he walked away he considered breaking the practice blade, but only a fool blamed his tools. This was his fault and he would strive to never let it happen again.

After time for each contestant to full heal and prepare themselves, the next bout is announced ...

Table 2 - Kendick Vs Cyrus (Umpire Cass 1)

Cyrus bowed his head briefly and called out to Kendrick, “May this be swift and decisive. Today you are my foe, may it never be so again.”

And then he charged bringing the dueling blade down in a wide arc that made solid contact with Kendrick’s shoulder.

Kendrick attempted to twist and dodge the strike from the Knight Commander. "Argh!" He brought his sword up and striked at the commander in turn. "Impressive." He said through clenched teeth.

So it's either 7 damage or 14 damage.

The two powerhouses trade blow for blow. Cass makes sure not to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Fight!

Cyrus felt the weight of the blow and it knocked him off balance as he tried to bring his sword down again on Kendrick with a heavy-handed chop. He missed by a wide margin.

Kendrick maintained his discipline. The weight of his sword was comfortable in his hands, even one made of wood. His struck Cyrus with the sword.

Cass noted the similarity to the duel lists, coming in neck and neck, but there could always be a surprise looming.

Cyrus does his best to shake off his slip and brings the wooden dueling blade around again with another two handed strike.

Kendrick didn't have a response to the strong attack coming from the Knight Commander. His strike was quick from the side but didn't compare to that from Cyrus.

Relentless! There was no time for calculating strategy or fancy maneuvers being made, it was a blade for blade swingfest and about as close a one as you could get.

Cyrus brought his blade down again confident that he’d found Kendrick’s weak spot.

Cass quickly cast Cure Moderate Wounds on Kendrick and called for the healers to come and help both parties be fully healed.
