OOC:  I would like ...

I have been reminded that I haven't opened up one of these threads for a while.  So ...

What do you want out of this game for your character?

It isn't quite an open-ended offer, of course, and you probably won't get exactly what you ask for -  although you will be able to affect the outcome (before and after) by RP.

I won't set up anything that negates part of any other character's story, I won't change the history of the world / game etc. etc.   But otherwise, I can be quite accommodating - especially if we can build it around good Role Playing, that highlights a character's personality, skills, background, or anything else remotely sensible.

In the past, I have added (or changed)  whole sections of the Campaign Rules to accommodate players and characters.  I think the entourage ally rules came from a player's wish list.  I have added various troop types, and even a whole category of businesses -  all to make better role playing for players and characters.

And, seeing as we are playing a standard Paizo Adventure Path, the broad shape of the game isn't going to change.

You can post publicly, in a Private Line or send me a PM.  They all work :)

I would like Adoven to clear Candlemere, build a fortress/town there with a naval yard, and start building a fleet there. At some point, the southern and northern nations will be looking to plunder what we have built, and we need to shore up our defenses.

In reply to Adoven Lodovka-Sud (msg # 2):

That is planned  :) Once you are home from Varn, we will have a party (of the right level) available to take on that task.  TBH, Candlemere island has been planned for a while -  I didn't think that Group 1 would be so long on that assignment.  That is my own fault, for not thinking it through properly -  but I have learned a lesson from it (I hope)

Am I allowed to participate in this thread? Are you sure? LOL.

First, I would like to thank everyone for this entirely unique roleplaying experience. Kingmaker itself was designed to be a bit different from typical campaigns, and John’s custom design has made it a real treasure. And of course, the roleplay and input from all of the characters and players has been immeasurable into crafting one of my favorite worlds of all time.

I must apologize for delaying things, it is a health matter, and not one of complacency. I hope to be more active in the coming days. This is my longest running online campaign ever, and my intent is to play it until I am no longer capable. Even to the point of begging John to prolong it past his expected expiration date for the game. There is still so much to be done.

When I think of this game, three things immediately come to mind.
1. How much can I get away with?
2. How much can I help others get away with?
3. Define Cass Mordane.

Or more simply put, I would like…world building. As much as I enjoy the adventuring, it is the world building that keeps the wheels turning in my mind. And character development as part of that world building. It has become apparent that Cass is not the most suited for combat. His best bet seems to merely help keep his compatriots alive, and perhaps even himself. His earlier dreams of becoming an Aldori swordlord have faded, and now he is left trying to redefine himself into something more suitable to his abilities. He has a long way to go.

Being honest, I would like to see Midmarch and it’s companion territories become an independent principality with Henry as its rightful king. Duke Andalon, Duke Domitius, Duke Adoven, Duke Marik. These all sound like fine things to me. As such, I would like to see everyone else’s vision of world building come to pass.

Cass will be content to fulfill his responsibilities as mayor of Tusk and help with whatever projects are desired. Equally, however he can aid outside of Tusk, he is happy to contribute as well. As long as he gets to design Silverton to his liking, he has no qualms.

*grin*  Cass, thank you for those nice words  ...  and everyone, no matter how long they have been here, or how obscure their plans are, can participate. However, That doesn't mean to say that you will get exactly what you ask for.  This world has been built on your ideas and input - just about every big decision has been thrown open to player input, and that really does change the way the world develops.  However, it is a big like an ocean liner, it has a lot of momentum and there are no sharp tuns ...

So ... Cass wants another civil war ...   I think I might be able to arrange that  :)  BUT, if you leave it to me, it won't happen fast.  Let's face it, fast doesn't happen in this game  :)

As for expiration date of the game.  In my head, we are due for another few years yet.  Group 1 are just finishing up the core story line of Book (of a six book AP)  I may not run the last book, as I have never felt it is a good fit for the rest of the module (and in this format) a lot of the foreshadowing gets lost.  Perhaps a shortened version of it.

However, I am already planning my next game - I love world and rules building, so I always have a project of that sort on the go.  That too will have a world building aspect, with a new (and simpler) version of the Campaign rules - it is a mash-up of a colonization  game and a Pirate game (at least in the early stages) - somewhere between the Conquistadors and The Golden Age of sail - with humanoid tribes (and empires) rather than other humans as the residents. It borrows bits from Kingmaker, Skull & Shackles, history and my not-quite-twisted Imagination.

World building will be slower than here, and tied into a few more RP elements - but one of the objectives will be to build a settlement in very hostile territory -  A proper old-fashioned AD&D1 style stonghold.

And Cass, you will be welcome to participate in that game, when we get there.

I like the sound of this, although Prince Domitius and Duke Henry has a better ring to it :P

Dom is looking at becoming a March lord, though he has plans to rival Henry one day, I mean if Henry can build to where he is why not try for the same.  Though Dom will be looking at a more Aldori focused domain.  Otherwise he will be supporting Alisa with the rebirth of the church of Acavna, building sword schools and looking to develop his own Aldori style potentially.  He wants to build ties to the Rostland Aldori and the Mivonese Aldori as well.

He does still dream of an independant Rostland....

I am glad that you realise that a Duke outranks a Prince ...
