Fuzzy: Sunsmarch Development 4719

This thread covers development in the new march-hold  of Sunsmarch, created when Dom purchased Varnhold.  I understand that it will extend across the mountains and include new land around Lake Silverstep.

In Varnhold:   V&A have offered to buy the Waterhorse Inn  and WSM have claimed the Serai -  but there has (so far) been no interest shown in the Tannery.

I understand that there will be two other settlements …
Bladehold, in the farming hex north of Varnhold, based around an Iomedian military training base funded by Kendrick.
Silverhold,  Set on the banks of Lake Silverstep, based around a   religious house dedicated to Acavna.

Dom and Alisa will post development details and, presumably, ask for investments.

Kendrick Winters, addresses his old friend and business partner.  "Dom, as we discussed earlier, I am happy to support you by building a small base near that farm to the north of Varnhold.  A fort to house some of our senior trainees and a  Holy house to continue their religious education."

A young priest from the Pharasmin abbey in Tusk, steps forwards and clears his throat nervously.  "Mother Beatrix would be please to offer a graveyard, for those who are not members of Erastil's congregation," he offers, "and I will be coming along to make sure that it is properly looked after."

Domitius smiled at Kendrick "Yes my friend you are most welcome at Bladehold, it will provide a good home to train more of the faithful.  I look forward to visiting once the holy house is complete.

Brother Ellis you will be welcomed at Varnhold, I look forward to attending one of your ceremonies when I can.
Domitius looked over to Hargrym and said "We will also be establishing Hammerhold as a home for the Dwarven folk, Clan Silverhammer will hold lordship over the town and have taken over the responsibilities of guarding the pass between Midmarch and Varnhold.

Now as to Silverhold we will be building a Watchtower to defend the mouth of the river, a great shrine to Acavna, my cousin Kiera will be opening a tavern the Pickled Eel I believe was her preferred name.  We will be opening enough ground to build a town in Slverhold so we would welcome additional investors.

Stepping forward and clearing his throat, Tobias offered, "We welcome Lord Domitius' foresight in expanding Silverhold and have made arrangements, if it still pleases him, to expand the growing town with a Shop, a Jetty, and the berthing of our Shallop, the Swamp Eel ... on top of our investment in the town infrastructure"

"We will be making Silverhold the headquarters for Lilycotton Holdings", he added, perhaps unnecessarily

"Welcome Master Cotton, we look forward to seeing Lilycotton  Holdings expand through the Southern Region.  I'm sure we can work out a way for Winter Sun Merchants to assist in getting your goods across the land and you can operate on the water. Domitius said with a nod and a smile.

Dressed in the leathers of a woodsman, Lex steps forward.  He still bears the brand, on his hand, ordered by Lord Henry after his time as a bandit -  however, that is all well in the past now.  "I'm looking to expand my investments, and while I spend most of my time on Old Keep now, I would like to buy the Leather workshop in Varnhold."

Never one to missed a hint, Tobias smiled, "Land and water, my Lord; it would be an honour to work with Winter Sun, though it may take a little while to settle us in"

"We welcome your investment Master Lex, indeed with the growth of our own forces you could expect quite a few orders for equipment."  Dom said with a nod to the woodsman.

"In orders to fulfill my commitment to the defenses of Midmarch and the Southern region I intend linking up the lands around Silverhold and the lands of Varnhold.  We will build a road across the mountains through Hammerhold to Eastgate in order to enhance trade between the two domains and between Restov and Tusk.

Further more we intend to start a new settlement across the lake from Silverhold in the near future and run a road from there to connect it with Varnhold linking up the two areas and providing an alternate road across the Tors."
He pauses and looks down at a book next to him. "This expansion should keep us busy for a few years yet and we hope to pass our domain down to our children when the time comes that however should be a good century away."

Naturally, Alisa was likewise present at Sunsmarch's auspicious introductory meeting.

"Blessings to all who have chosen to become part of what we plan to be a prosperous, inclusive, and forward thinking community. With room for many opportunities in commerce, as well as artistic expression."

"In the beginning, Domitius proffered naming Silverhold in honor of Acavna, the goddess to whom I am priestess.  And although it was most thoughtful, I chose against it.   Simply because I don't want any sense that homage to that deity is required of residents.  I believe most strongly in freedom and integration of faiths, and am quite pleased to see the presence of two of the most important gods, Abadar and Pharasma, out the gate."    Alisa inclined her head, in respect to those two.

"However, make no mistake at all, that within the borders of Sunsmarch, great Acavna is in no way to be regarded as a 'dead' power, as some would maintain.   Find it eccentric as you will, or out of step with standard theology.  But it won't change the fact that, here, Her faith is vibrantly alive."

"Her site of worship, on the shore of Lake Silverstep, will begin life as a chapel, to be upgraded to full temple as soon as that is possible."

Andalon smiled at Alisa's kind words.

"Thank you, Alisa. I wish you both well in Sunsmarch. Actually, Varnhold had trouble with the Nomen centaurs to the east, previously, under Lord Varn's rule. I understand that the Nomen centaurs worship Desna as Mother Moon. Desna and Acavna were friends, so perhaps you can use that connection to build a more friendly relationship with the Nomen centaurs?"

Alisa inclined her head at the wisdom of his words.

"Thank you for that suggestion, Bishop.  I hadn't considered that, but I like the thought very much.  Where possible, we do want to foster positive relations with the indigenous peoples of the region   This might in fact be a stepping stone for that, and we will for certain spend some time considering how this might best be approached and done."
