Re: OOC -  Kingdom Building Thread

I really love the way that you've explained BP here. It makes a lot more sense as opposed to the conversion of gold to BP.

Cyrus and Valoria will endeavor to aid others in future developments in and around Ringbridge with any leftover "value" we have from our own BP as we invest in Ringbridge ourselves. So if someone wants to build a Jetty now, I can promise that I will aid in whatever way I can in the addition of a ship or other upgrade later :).

Well now, Ron here is a licensed carpenter and is hanging around Oleg's. I am pretty sure he can be talked into helping.

I'm definitely planning for a library in town. Mariam needs her romance novels.

Re: OOC -  Kingdom Building Thread

Ron -  please feel free to move yourself to any of the location threads, if you want to pick up some RP.  There willbe another Location thread opening up later for the Fort Stag area -  or what ever we call it.

Mariam - Cool.  You need to pop into the the Fort Stag development thread (that is where I anticipate the largest  settlement to be)  and take part in that debate.  Currently there is a discussion about Naming the area am and electing a Mayor to run it for you.

Adoven and Vik had planned to start a merchant venture with a Jetty and 2 fishing boats. Problem is, that costs 3.7 BP, and we only have 2 BP between us.

Re: OOC -  Kingdom Building Thread

*grin* I know.  I read your PMs.

A jetty costs  700
a pair of fishing boats cost 1500

Total 2200 - leaves you 200 short.

Now, if you were to Borrow another BP from one of the  other PCs  you would have 3bp  - That would allow you to buy a second Jetty (in a different settlement)

2x Jetty - 1400
fishing boats - 1500

Total 2900 - with 100 left over (for the two settlements to fight over)

You might have to pay them interest of course ...

Like everyone else, you have to start slowly  :)

Valoria will loan Adoven and Vik 1 BP so they can get started. No interest, just build one of those Jetty in Ringbridge. Pay her back next turn(or soonish). :)

Could have sworn that it was a single fishing boat for 1500, but if you're offering a BOGO deal, we'll take it....

Valoria, I'll have to consult with my partner, but that sounds like a great deal.

from the descriptions section at the bottom of the page :)

quote:

Your 1500 gets you two fishing boats and makes work for fishermen/Sailors to run them - as well as homes for them, their wives and families.

Boats (ships, caravans and Mule trains) are more expensive than many other developments because they have a much higher rate of return.  However, you need to have the basic set up - ie Jetties, Docks of Serai  before you can use them.

As there are restrictions on the numbers of each development that can be built in a settlement -  Adoven and Vik could have river-borne trade between Ringbridge and Tusk Town sewn up for a while  :)

@Adoven, Vik - when you get around to it, if you wouldn't mind declaring your interest in building the Jetty in the Fuzzy: Ringbridge thread: link to a message in this game  it would be greatly appreciated.

@Cass - if you decide to build a Tavern in Ringbridge as well, please post it there as well. That way we know what we have to work with!

In reply to DM (msg # 23):

So, the two jetties in Tusk Town and Ringbridge either do not add BPs to each city or add +0.50 BP per turn, and the fishing boats add +1 BP to Viktorian Enterprises?

Re: OOC -  Kingdom Building Thread

From what I understood(which may be wrong)  boats, ships, mule trains and caravans  don't add their economic point to the stronghold economic value. You(and your partner) profit from these things only.

However, jetties(docks, or any building, etc) do add to a stronghold's economic value. You profit more by owning it, but the stronghold also gets to tax it. Jetties and the like are kind of a win/win for both you and the stranghold. :)

Speaking of which, Lady Valoria... do you wish repayment of your BP, or are you investing? Whereby you are involved in develop, ment?

In reply to Adoven (msg # 27):

Actually, after looking over the numbers, I am going to need repayment of the BP.  Going to build the first district to upgrade the village to a city next turn.

Would you still be open to investment after a few turns down the road? We(Val and Cyrus) just need to get our ball rolling is all. :)

Re: OOC -  Kingdom Building Thread

*grins* I would remember that Valoria hasn't helped you build the jetty in Ringbridge yet,  while Val and Cyrus have the right to refuse you permission to build anything in Ringbridge. :)

That Extra BP (at this point) makes it possible for your shipping company to get established , and start making a profit, very quickly.  A 2bp company is a lot less profitable that a 3bp company :)

Yeah, I actually started talking to the DM about it before I knew anyone was taking the Orcy Ring/Ringbridge. I'm not sure how successful it'll be, but I thought it would be fun to work with the kobolds.

Re: OOC -  Kingdom Building Thread

For what it’s worth, it makes sense to me to have a number of small settlements that are close to each other and connected. That’s how it works best historically :). Eventually we’ll all turn into one big city, but that will be generations from now!

As long as everyone is playing this to benefit the common good of MidMarch we’ll all do great!
