"We have a few light cavalrymen at our disposal, but barely enough to patrol city surrounds and run messages.  But nothing like a proper cavalry." Borric agrees.

"I think that is something I can help you with Kendrick, I'm looking at building a military force here if things work out.  What that will look like I'm not sure yet." Domitius looks up into the sky and says "I was thinking about griffon cavalry if I can get some eggs."

"Thank you Kendrick, likewise if I spot a Roc egg I try and snatch it up for you Mariam.  Although I don't know that I like the idea of getting that close to a nest." Domitius said with a grin.  "I suspect mother Roc may take exception to the intrusion."

"It sounds very nice, I have never been that far north though.  Furthest I have traveled is to New Stetven with my father before he disappeared.  He had promised to take me to Kyonin but it never quite happened." Domitious looked away for a moment before placing his hand upon Mariam's shoulder "My sorrow for the loss of your mother Mariam, no matter how long it has been the loss of a parent is never an easy thing."  Domitius dropped his hand back to his side "I only hope I run into my father or at least hear something of what happened to him whilst we explore the south."

There were some very real challenges for a cleric, when the majority of the world considered your god to be dead.   When your god was dead; at least as much so as an archetypal, immortal being could be.    Alisa didn't worry about that part, so much.  Her relationship to Acavna was much similar to that of any priestling to their god.

But, she was without the sorts of relationships and guidance most clerics took for granted:   the kind that came from belonging to, and having trained at a temple.  That often had alliance with other temples, whose godlings were of a compatible outlook.

And that was why she'd decided to go out and try to forge some relationships along such lines.    Iomedae seemed a good start.   As Acavna, she too was a goddess of battle, albeit crusader rather than defender.   Her priests and paladins were renown for their honor and valor.

Securing her steed out in front, she saw the place consisted of but a courtyard and a single residence structure.     She went up the covered walkway, which was pleasantly landscaped.   And then inside, to see if anyone was about..

As Alisa enters, a young man who is running through so sword forms in the courtyards, comes to meet her.  He looks a bit sweaty from his exercise, but he is breathing easily enough as he asks  "Have you come for the Library?  It is over this way ..."

Having finished writing letters home Domitius headed outside with the intention of getting some exercise, he strode purposefully to the Iomedae House where he hoped he would find someone to train with.  Pausing for a moment outside the entrance he centered himself with a few deep breaths before heading inside.

Seeing the young acolyte with Alisa upon entry Domitius paused "Greetings my Lady, perhaps I could assist, Domitius Solanus at your service.  Whilst I am not a cleric of the Lady of Valour, I am one of her faithful."

Kendrick Winters finished his prayers. He spotted Domitius and another woman speaking in the courtyard. He walked up to the pair, "Domitius, you've come to spar?" He smiled as he turned to Alisa, "Ahh, excuse me. My name is Kendrick Winters, a paladin of Iomedae."

The acolyte smiles widely and indicates the two newcomers with a smile.  "And the Inheritor understood your desires."

With that he retires to the cloister, watching and ready to assist, but leaving Alisa  with Kendrick and Domitius.

"Hello to you gentlemen, and blessings upon you and this house.   I am Alisa D'Medvyed, a cleric by profession.   As it happens, one who grew into the role outside any sort of temple or order.   But, I'm here to put forth the good will of Acavna,   to offer spear to stand along with sword, defender with crusader, if the need should arise.    To meet others who work for good, in the name of a higher power."

"A pleasure to meet you Lady Alisa, welcome to our Lady's House. Domitius offered a small bow "A cleric of Avacna, forgive me Lady Alisa but I am unfamiliar with your Patron, though I would be delighted to know more.  Domitius seems honestly curious to know more.

Looking at Domitius a little more closely, she realized that, as her herself, he was a mix of human and elven ancestry, albeit favoring the human side more.

"I much appreciate the courtesy, but you can drop the 'Lady' bit from my name.   I'm not Lady of a whole lot more than my room back home, my steed, and my possessions.  Yes...most are not so familiar with my patron.  Unless they happen to have studied Azlanti history, rather deeply.  Acavna was...is a goddess of the moon, as well as defensive battles, and a protectoress of those in need.   She made a great sacrifice to protect this world, and some scholars would say she is dead."
Alisa shrugged.   "Does an immortal truly die?    My mother's people, who dwell in the Mordant Spire, can hear her whispers.  I've never been to the Spire, but I hear them too."

She smiled, "Makes me sound nutty?  I would not argue! But," she touched her holy symbol, "it is to her I pray, and I gain what others gain from their living gods."

"Did you grow up in Iomedae's religion, or come to the faith later in life?" she asked Domitius.

Kendrick listened to the conversation with some interest. "So then you're a priest of Acavna? It would be most welcome if Acavna would rejoin Iomedae at her side." He lead their steps towards the library. "I suppose that I should spend more time reading, but I haven't been a good student."

With a roll of 21... let's see
House Winters is a noble family in Brevoy. Alisa recalls that Kendrick is the first born son. A year ago, there was a rumor that he and his father had a series of arguments. Four months ago, Kendrick's uncle returned to the ancestral home with his entire family.

"My family honour many of the gods, each of us has those they feel strongest about and Iomedae was mine.  Though I am not called to her church, like my friend Kendrick here, I follow her ways as best I can." Domitius gave Alisa a warm smile and continued "Many of the things my father taught me don't fit too well with some members of the church though.  He follows Calistra and is a little too carefree for many."

Seeing Kendrick starting to move to the library Domitius offers Alisa his arm to escort her further into the complex.  "I would be very interested in learning more about your Lady, I have often sat in the moonlight and been bewitched at her beauty."

Relieved there was to be no untoward reaction along the lines of 'You serve a dead goddess?  Be gone from this house, witch!'   Alisa briefly contemplated what she knew of Kendrick and his family.    She wondered what may have been the nature of the quarrel she'd heard about between he and his father. But it was certainly nothing to ask someone she'd only just met.

"I'm no historian, nor even religious scholar, myself Sir Kendrick.   I know a core of things that relate to the one I serve, but not so much outside that.   I wish to learn more, however. So, your library interests me."

She took the offered arm from Domitius, saying "Ah, yes, Calisrtia.  Some would find her ways...a little too free.  But, every god has their place.  That much I've learned.  And I'd be happy to share with you more of the one I follow. I've spent much time under the moon's lovely light myself."

As they drew nearer the library, she asked "Are you the one who founded this shrine, Sir Kendrick?"

"No, no." Kendrick answered Alisa, "Borric d'Cordian and Miriam Wolfeater set up the temple. I only arrived in Tusk Town about three months ago." Kendrick smiled as he turned to Alisa and Domitius, "Well this is the library. Good day, I hope you enjoy your stay." He gave Domitius a nod, "I'll be at the Dragons Den later tonight if you either of you would care to join me."
