Yes, that “pulling” is one of my concerns, but Henry is adept at maneuvering among those of higher rank.

Re: OOC2
Roughly  11-12,000 people -  spread across all the settlements that make up Midmarch.  Almost half of them live in Tusk and its Hinterlands.

However, that is a 'back of an envelope' calculation -  using values from the population ranges that Paizo give for settlement sizes.

  • Tusk, 5000
  • Ringbridge, 2000
  • Oston, 1000
  • Newgate, 1000
  • tatzleford, 1000
  • 10x villages @ 120
  • 2x wilderness @ 40

I know I'm going to regret not taking invisibility purge in the current thread.   But with just a pair of third level slots, it lost out to others.

New district name  - The Smelly District?

And has anyone else noticed that it is just under that posh district, Ivory Hill? Beware wind from the South!

Oh, it's quite conveniently located, really. The nobs of Nob Hill need somewhere close by where their employees can live. :o)

Besides, we are building district walls for Ivory Hill. It's easier to ignore the smell if you are not forced to look at the source!

Re: OOC2
Just as a clarification -  The Midmarch Council is open to every PC (not entourages) to voice their opinions on the war.

This is where you, as a player, get to influence the way the game goes :)

Re: OOC2
I probably should have reminded you that ...
  • Advancement: Entourage-Assistants advance one level every Campaign Round, unless they are at their level limit.
  • Level Limits: An Entourage-Assistant will never have more than half the levels that your PC does, nor advance beyond Level 5.

Re: OOC2
Just a point of clarification before I post again...

Did we swear an oath to Lord Henry, or to Brevoy? I understand we are the Midmarch chapter of the Brevic Knights, but our oath is still to Brevoy, right?

So can Henry actually release us from that oath to Brevoy? And even if he thinks he can, will the King-Regent see things similarly?

I'm asking because I honestly don't know.

Re: OOC2
Those are good questions that would likely fill the time for many lawyers (etc) for years to come.

Henry, however, is clearly willing to take that risk.

Re: OOC2
If any of you are interested, I have just published a blog on my game management philosophies.

http://galinia.org.uk/playing-styles

One of the things I love about this game is that you guys are such a diverse bunch of players.  You bring a range of different playing styles and expectations -  and that adds immensely (IMO) to the game.  It leads to conflict occasionally, but we can work past that.  Overall this diversity of styles has given me a better perspective on this hobby of ours and made me into a better DM.  Thank you.

If you have any views my thoughts, or want to try and place yourself within those categories, please feel free to comment.

Re: OOC2
If it needs to be said:

We were brought together to share a diversity of viewpoints, and we did.  There were many, many insightful, well thought points raised, by multiple characters.

Of course, all characters are going to have their strong preferences and biases.  That's normal, and human.  Er, even for those who may not be human.   Some clashes are probably unavoidable.   Some may even be fun to role play.

Who is -- "the most right?"?     Who cares --  it's a game.    Fictional people, fictional places.    Nothing real is on the line, here.

I would plead only that grudges not be held at the player level -  this is an exceptional game, there's no dead weight, everyone seems to being something substantial to the table.   We can have fun not always getting along as characters, but please, let's it's keep things okay at the player level?

I've seen other games ripped apart in that way.    Let's not do that here.

Re: OOC2
Oh, absolutely ! I second that ! :>

Our characters might be belligerent, opinionated, loud, conniving, etc etc, and it can be a lot of fun to play either side of that.  But there's always a worry that things might be taken personally by the other player, cos all we've got to go on after one cutting remark is an equally pointed response.  Cedric the Cleric can get angry at Frieda the Fighter, but Charlie and Frankie should have a smile on their faces.

I've found in the past that when things are getting heated IC, a simple way to reinforce that "it's him (the character) not me (the player) !" is to also include a OC PM to the other party of the conflict - a short "good RPG'ing", or something as simple as a smiley face can go a long way to keeping the peace on the other side of the invisible wall.

Re: OOC2
For the sake of all that is holy, Henry, don’t leave us hanging!

As for which type of player I am, I would guess a bit of all three. This game definitely has me looking through the rules to see what is possible. I really enjoy writing, getting to help do a little world building, developing my character(s) as I go along. Unfortunately, health keeps me from going as deep into the writing as I would like. So mostly just a gamer. See what everyone is doing and try to make an appropriate response. Read up on the world and character building of others. Give our poor DM too much hassling in the OOC and private messages.

As for player conflict, we have been blessed with a group of top notch players who know where to draw the line between character conflict and player conflict. I plan to do my own part to keep it that way. Thanks to everyone for all the fun.
