Re: OOC2

*grins*  this is why I was trying to stay away from GP/BP conversion tables/rates  :)

When you 'sell' a BP you get the sale price -  which is 50% of the standard price.  So currently 'selling' a BP in tusk gets the equivalent of 2500gp.  Outsider rate in Jovvox is 5625 gp.

However, think of this table as an "equivalence" rather than an exchange rate.   Think of  a sea-side shop where everything is really expensive for tourists, but all the locals have a 20% discount - and the shop owners mates get 40% discount.

Your very first development in a new area is still going to attract a 'permission' fee (where you pay for building permission) as well.  So, under normal circumstances, you might need to 'cash in'  3bp in Tusk to get your first jetty in Jovvox. If you upset the Jovvox boss, it might be 4bp -  Sweet talk him and it might be 2.5bp.  If lots of people want to invest in  Jovvox, the 'permission' rate might be higher -  supply and demand is a marvellous thing.  If it helps you can think of this as a sweetener, a bribe, or a 'fee for residence'(*).

No -  you can't just regularly 'cash-in' BP for GP.  BP is based on goods, barter, knowing people and a variety of other non-cash things.  When you convert BP to cash  it puts a strain on the local economy and annoys the people you do business with.  You get less and less good-will from the people who you trade/deal with and the 'sale' price will reduce.  And, of course, there is no real point.  If you make money from the BP system, I will just reduce the amount of treasure I hand out  :)

(*) You would be surprised at how many RL countries do this.  Rich people who are prepared to invest are welcome anywhere in the world.  You guys are part of the mega-rich  :)

Re: OOC2

Cass!  Buy a boar spear!

Things are improving at this end.  I have moved to working 3 days a week, although  at least one more day is taken up trying to find work for when  I am 'technically' unemployed from July 4 - which is now my personal Independence Day.

The family and historical landmark events are over.  The last week (or so) has seen my wedding anniversary, my birthday and  the D-Day commemorations.  D-Day might seem s a strange one to put in there, but I work at the site were the D-Day landings were planned.  We have the original room and map they planned and managed the landings from.  At one pojnt we were supposed to be hosting  all the world's leaders who were at the Portsmouth ceremony (May, Trump, Macron, Merkel etc) and their entourages.  At one point I was even down to help host a dinner for some of their hangers-on.  As IT manager for the site - I was busy reworking rooms that could be used as a multinational Security Centre right up until a week or so before the visit.  And this weekend it is Father's Day and my son has come to visit ...

However, I can see the end of the tunnel and I will soon have more time to spend on RPoL again :)

Re: OOC2

Has anybody been sending me PMs and not getting a response?  Twice in the last month or so, I have had a Private Message notification -  but when I went to look there were no new PMs.

(And I have checked all the way down the list including PMs not actually sent to me)

Re: OOC2

Thanks for the reminder. Can I get stats for that?

No missing PMs on this end.

Glad you are getting your workload, semi-retirement figured out. Sorry about missing out on hosting the world leaders, but sounds like you have a pretty exciting life going on over all. Hope you get to enjoy it to the fullest.

Oh, and Happy Father's Day to all it applies to!

In reply to DM (msg # 553):

None that I know of either.

I've had that happen in other games I'm in when I log in from a different PC/phone/etc. When I go to PM's and then back out it shows I have a PM indicator in that game. Odd.

Re: OOC2

Thanks guys. I have come across the PM thing occasionally before -  but not so close together  :)  I normally use multiple devices quite a lot -  but recently the frequency has dropped off, as I have been busier during working hours.

Ah well ....  If anyone  does send me a PM -  and I don't respond.  Chase me  :)

Cass, I was more than happy the world leaders decided not to come visit  :)  It would have meant a couple of days of extreme disruption -  with little benefit for me. I suspect the food at dinner would have been decent - but those chefs cook my lunch most days  :)

Re: OOC2

Isn't it about time you got yourself a proper horse?  You look really silly riding that Mule.  And working for the soon-to-be Lord Mayor of Tusk as well!

Still, I have some nice mounts available at my ranch up near Oleg's.  I am sure Cass will dig into his pocket, if only just to avoid the embarrassment of being seen with a squire riding a mule...

Ears is a good mount. A sweetheart really. I would hate to part with her. But you might be right. She might like getting relegated to light duty while I find something bigger to carry my frame.

Ole Cass? He probably loves the attention it brings. But he has mentioned inviting you down to Silverton for a joint venture in horse breeding. And maybe breeding titan boars to be Henry's elite cavalry mounts. :O

None :)  There is no XP / BP Exchange rate -  I am already concerned about the GP/BP exchange rate - especially when I am going to give you a public space to buy and sell stuff.

Kendrick -  the XP reward for downtime participation will be fairly small.  It is a nod towards the player's participation, rather than a primary reward for the activity.  The main reward for downtime skill based activities is the gold you earn or the items you create.

So comedy juggling on street corners should work well for The Marshal ....

Re: OOC2

I have just added the following text to the Religious building section of the rules.

Most religious buildings have a group of Collegiate Adepts who live in, serve and maintain the building.  Collegiate Adepts have the ability to perform rituals that enhance the Caster level of their lead priest - ie the PC Cleric who 'owns' the temple.  When casting spells, using scroll and performing other similar tasks, the PC cleric gains the following bonus caster levels so long as they in their own church and take an hour to prepare.

+1 - Holy House, Chapel
+2 - Priory, Temple
+3 - Abbey, Minster
+4 - Cathedral

Re: OOC2

As I said a short while ago, I have left my full-time permanent employment - to go into semi-retirement.  In effect, this means freelancing and picking up bits of work that I like the idea of, or that suit me nicely.  One of my first contracts is training and assessing apprentices in the dark arts of Digital Marketing, which means I need to become familiar with the tools that are used.  First up is blogging and particularly WordPress -  So if anyone is interested in my new blog (which is all about world building for game worlds) you can find it at ...

www.galinia.org.uk

Just remember it is very new and (at the moment) is as much a learning sandpit as anything else.
