In reply to Kendrick Winters (msg # 599):

Haha!

Have fun DM!

Of the people I've seen who retire, I've only seen them actually get busier than when they were working. Crazy!

Re: OOC2

If anyone is interested -  a report of the Birthday Game has been posted on my blog - http://galinia.org.uk/

Cher was 'Interesting'  Cher, herself was good - although she clearly isn't as active and physically able as she was years ago.  Paul Young (the opening act) was pretty dire - and the DJ really didn't do anything for me - Mixing Johnny Cash over some sort of bass and drum beat really didn't work (IMO)- and there were other severe mismatches too!  *Grumpy Old Man Scowl*

Yesterday was pretty much a recovery day - and you need those as you get old :(

Re: OOC2

Now I am left wanting to play a master chef who specializes in releasing magic from a collection of objects and providing take out/take away meals for adventurers.

And maybe finding a way to ship over additional quantities of port for next year's birthday adventure. Or maybe Grog!

*grin* Thank you. I can say with complete honesty - we never have a shortage of Port :)

Re: OOC2

I actually have a grog recipe I found in my Warcraft cookbook.  We don't have much of a liquor shop around here or I'd make it myself.  Been meaning to try all those gaming-inspired drinks I've been finding all over the net, myself.

Maybe we need to start submitting drink recipes for The Dragons Den.

Re: OOC2

I think Kiera's would be easy:

The Raincutter:

1) Pour something alcoholic into a glass.
2) Drink.

But yeah, that would be something fun to try and think of.

Re: OOC2

Back in the day we used to have a 'communal cocktail' called a Rivers Red-Eye - my re-enactment regiment in the Sealed Knot is called Earl Rivers regiment  :)

  1. Take a hat and collect money.
  2. Go to the bar and order a glass red wine - pour the wine into a pint glass.
  3. Use the money from the hat to buy as many shots as you can and put them into the pint glass.
  4. Top it up with soda water.
  5. Stir very gently
  6. Pass it around until it is all gone.
  7. Start again.

Some very (un)lucky people were given a Red-Eye all to themselves on special occasions, such as their birthday .... *Evil Grin*

Oh gawd, that sounds like the drink my mates gave me the night before I moved back to Oz from the UK.... Though it was beer based...  Not a great way to fly...

I used to have a super power when it came to drinking alcohol, but I have since retired the ability. But back in the day, this was my own personal drink (when it wasn't just whiskey by the gallons):

Cranberry Juice
A shot (or 4) of Jack Daniels
A splash of Grenadine
Just enough ice to chill

And our own type of party punch was Blue Stuff:

Blue Curacao
Triple Sec
Lemon Juice
Lime Juice
7 Up
Vodka

Also, now that I have been enlightened, I must make pork crackling!

Pork Crackling is one of the best parts of roast Pork.  Rub plenty of salt into the  skin/rind and cook in a hot oven.  Yummy!

Re: OOC2

Never tried but I'm assured it's good:

Chairman of the Board

3 parts Grey Goose Vodka
3 parts Bombay Sapphire Gin
1 part Cointreau
Chilled over ice and strained

Though nothing can really beat Tom Sharpe's fictional (I sincerely hope) Dog's Nose, the favourite tipple of Lord Jeremy Pimpole, usually made up of seven ounces of gin to thirteen ounces of beer, served in a pint glass. Pimpole's version of the drink is made up of 60% gin ...

Re: OOC2

Yeah, flu season's starting to kick in- I've laid in a load of peanut butter, bread, and good chicken noodle soup.

Though we also got our first snowfall, and all the joy that brings to the roads, today.  I swear, there's something about the first snow of the season that just wipes the memory of how to drive on snow from everyone's minds... sheesh.

Re: OOC2

It was our version of Thanksgiving today (my wife is American) with English, American, French and Catalan members of the family - ranging from 4years old to nearly 90.  My wife and I spent a good two days preparing, all evening eating and talking, and we will spend most of tomorrow cleaning up.  :)

Right at the moment, I am sitting here feeling stuffed and very content.

All festivities should last well beyond the new year!

I am not sure I understand the 10+initiative reference though.

The lobster will go back underwater on initiative count 9, so you need a 10+ to target it before that happens.
