Re: OOC2

I have just updated the 'influence' table for Midmarch.  It isn't very pretty, I am afraid, but you should be able to work it out.  Some characters (Henry, Cyrus, Adoven)  have two entries.  The highlighted entry is their influence as "Head of ...." - and therefore the one that counts  :)  The First column is your influence within Midmarch.  The subsequent columns  show how your influence transfers to other towns in the area.

I have also updated the Influence in Brevoy tables (with values for selected people) so that you can compare your values with the influential people of those cities.

Is an Influence of 6 in Restov enough to get a jetty built there?

Re: OOC2

It is a start towards it. The score for any of the 'foreign' places represents how well you are 'known'  in that particular place.   Treat it as one modifier based on your reputation in the world.

You can add to that by approaching other people to help you out or work with you.  You might want to think if there is anyone in Restov you know and could approach, or if there is anyone in Tusk who might benefit?  Or even if there is anyone in Midmarch who might help you out?

However, I note that:-
  • Your Influence in Mivon is not far behind.
  • Jovvox offers an opportunity as well.
  • There is no direct river route to Restov yet,
  • There is already a land Based trade connection between Henryhall and Restov

Adoven:
Does the title 'Lord-Dominus' add to your Influence in other cities?

Yes.  Anything in the 'National Titles' column has a fairly direct effect.  Anything else that adds to your Midmarch Influence has a smaller effect.  In simple terms the formula is :-

Highest National Titles + (Other_Midmarch_Influence / 5) + Local Links.
EDIT:  Then modified for distance, size of town & relationship

The quickest ways for you (specifically) to increase your influence in other cities is to  increase your defence score to 5 (or more) which gets you the  Lord-Dominus title, upgrade to a City base in Tusk and a Town Base in Ringbridge.

Re: OOC2

Folks - the Easter Weekend is a long holiday in the UK, with both the Friday and Monday as national holidays.  My wife and I have also taken Thursday and next Tuesday as leave, and we are off camping in the middle of the New Forest -  with no internet, or even any electricity! So only minor posts from my phone while we are away.

I will get a post up for all the groups either tonight or tomorrow.

For those of you who are interested, Shanara has set up a Discord Server to act, primarily, as an off-site information point should the site go down.

She has posted details in the  Off Site Games  forum.

GM in House Rule Discussions:
Note: Water based trade is always going to be more effective and influential that land based.  It will be interesting to add Sea based trade at (some point)  Just for completeness.

And we'll want Air-based trade too.  I'm not training these Griffons for fun ! And of course there's always those Flying Carpets courtesy of ErebusTM ... <grins>

Re: OOC2

Folks -  work is playing havoc with me at the moment.  However, things will improve in a few weeks (at worst) as I intend to take a partial retirement and drop to working part time hours :)

That will leave me much more time for doing the important things in life -  like tormenting you guys  :P

... transitioning towards full time DMing !  That's what we're all working towards. :>

And I believe that Fletcher over at Bow Inc. has been working on some long range, high cargo capacity ballistae.

I was worried that might be a bit ambitious, but according to our resident experts McDonnell and Douglas, the Craft skill check is only DC-10.  :P

Ahh.  They might want to talk to the gnomes on the chain ferry - I think they already hold patents on that.

Very nice, guys.  :o)

Why am I suddenly expecting someone to mention a cursed ring of levitation, or something equally nasty? No way! I'm not falling for that.  ;o)
