And now I have been distracted by a whole series of PMs and posts about troops and troop types and on-going little niggles about sword schools ...  And the fact that I need a new Blog post ....

Over the next day or so, I am going to be playing with the relationship between troop types and Kingdom Buildings  (ie watchtowers, Sword-Schools etc).  Those of you with strongholds, Sword-schools, mercenary Barracks etc  - might want to have a look.


HOWEVER - you do not need to.  The basic rules won't change.  You will still get the same number of defence points for your troops as before - but the changes will let you skin them differently, if you want too.

Most of the changes are taking place  (ATM) on

It has taken a while -  but I have posted the blog article.  Changes to off the shelf Troop descriptions will be changed first -  then I get to some rules on flavouring buildings.

It doesn't affect you unless you particularly want to have a specific type of trooper represented by your defence points.  If that isn't a priority for you, then just leave it to me.

Unfortunately, you only get one AOO in this instance.  You are allowed one AOO per opponent per 'event' - and in this case the event is the Quickling leaving a threatened square.  While it looks like he leaves a number of squares - it is the same event.

While this comes from Roll20, rather than any of the official sites, the interpretation runs through  the other FAQs I have looked at.

Yeah, even when I was rolling the extra hits it didn't quite feel right but Pathfinder can surprise you sometimes.

On the plus side, that first one was solid even without the crit. I'll edit the post down.

While you can get more than one AOO on the same opponent -  they have to be generated by different triggers.

For you guys with an Aldori or Restov background - I have been fleshing things out a bit more  (with some help from Dom).  I have not made any real changes, but we have added quite a lot of meat to the bone ...

Was there any discussion about the two Fuzzy RP adventure threads other than in those threads?

Fuzzy: Yolen's Mule Train (back along the road to Restov), and Fuzzy: The Lady of the Lake (by boat to visit the Chain Ferry, Jovvox and Mivon).

Are they intended purely for PCs or are they suitable for non-combatant NPCs like our entourage-assistants?

And a thought about Entourage members.  if you are  using Entourage members in a way that means they interact with other Players -  please can you add a public description of the character.
This isn't meant as a dig -  because I suspect that I am guilty of not making public descriptions for all of the NPCs that I run too.  Most of the time it isn't an issue, but if NPCs will be in a position where they will interact with other Player's character, it seems reasonable that  the public descriptions  say something about the character.

Perhaps what they look like, their equipment and the role they have in Midmarch.

At time of writing, Yolen's says

A sharp faced woman, about 5'7" tall,  fairly muscular with dark hair and eyes that have seen  more than  you ever need to know.

She is somewhere in her thirties and dressed in some very well-made studded leather armour.  She carries a good quality shortsword and a small steel shield.


But by the time you read this, it will contain another line about her job as Henry's main caravan leader.


Edit:  It has just taken me 45 minutes to get all of my descriptions up to that spec -  so I am as bad as anyone!

Aww, that means I have to work out my equipment, too. Probably about time, actually.  ;o)

Do we assume Basic Level funds available for NPC Gear, as per Tale 14-9 (p454) of the Core Rulebook?

Your entourage are your folk.  The system assumes that you provide them with food and lodgings of a reasonable standard etc etc.

The automatic 35 gp /level is a bit arbitrary - and just represents the basics  (which they are generally happy with)  As your PC go up in levels, there is no reason why you can't give discarded items to entourage members or buy them things they need from the PCs own money  :P
