Just separating things out a bit ....


Kendrick stepped into the main room and found an empty table.

It had been a while since the last time Domitius had let his hair down and from all accounts the Dragon's Den seemed to be the place to be in town.  Dressed in his second finest outfit he headed in to the bar.

As he approached he paused outside and cast an eye over the new building then with a nod of approval he headed in.  He stopped just inside the entrance to allow his eyes to adjust and to scope out the room.  Spotting an empty seat near Sir Kendrick he made his way through the crowd and said "Good evening Sir Kendrick, may I join you?

Kendrick smiled as he saw Domitius approach his table. "Please do. What are you drinking tonight?" The young man held a glass in his hand. The liquid inside was a deep brown. He brought the drink to his lips and sipped slowly.

Taking a seat at Kendrick's table with view of the front door, he gave a nod of thanks as he did so and Domitius replied "Oldlaw whiskey, assuming they have some."

"Have you eaten? The dessert today is excellent." Kendrick made small talk.

"Not as yet, I had been practicing my forms until later than usual." He does his best to catch one of the waitress's eyes as he continues "How go your plans to invest locally?"

"I've already started a business here. It's called Winters Wares and Spices." Kendrick smiled. "How about yourself? Are you thinking of putting some roots down?"

"Can I help you?" one of the waitresses asks as she responds to Domitius's signal.

Domitius is about to respond to Kendrick when the waitress appears "I see it is true the Dragon's maidens are the fairest in the land." Domitius replied to Winnie with a friendly smile "I would be interested in a meal, a glass of wine followed by dessert and an Oldlaw Whiskey if you have it.  What would you recommend?"

Winnie smiles sweetly and half winks at Domitius.  "Well, it should really be stew, as you haven't booked in advance, but I might be able to talk the cook into a nice pork chop .....  and I might be able to get you some pie for dessert."

Taking a cloth that is pushed through  her apron strap,  Winnie leans forwards, and starts to wipe the table.  "Anything else I can get you ...."

"Ah fair maid, the pork chop sounds truly wonderous and pie I have heard is divinely inspired.  For such a kindness I would be forever grateful." hr gives her a cheeky smile "Perhaps later we could share a bottle of wine and talk of distant places.  However for now my dear Sir Kendrick and I have business we must discuss."

Winnie smiles sweetly at Domitius, but doesn't respond to his suggestions for later.

Still got it ... she thinks as she walks jauntily back to the kitchens

"Sorry about that Sir Kendrick, now as too settling down I do indeed intend to find myself a place here.  I have been looking at Ringbridge as it seems a good place to begin investments though down the track I would hope to have my own demesne probably the Kamelands if I find the right spot."

The half-orc clutched at her breast wrapping her shawl around her tightly. The cold made her scar sore. The cyclops had left quite a mark across her chest. A painful reminder that not all people could be saved no matter how much she wished for them to see the light. The paladin entered the tavern looking for warmth and a meal. She waved at the familiar face of Kendrick Winters pulling up a seat at his table. "Kendrick! how have you been."

Domitius rose to his feet as the half-orc paladin joined them at the table "Lady Mariam." and nodded his head in greeting.

Kendrick frowned as Mariam sat at his table. She seemed hurt and sore. "Are you alright? Do you need a priest? You should be resting." He waved the bar maid over to his table. Clearly she needed a drink, if she declined the priest.

Winnie returns with Domitius's order, and returns with Mariam's order later.

Mariam smiled reassuringly "this scar?It's been looked at, I won it in battle our last outing, it aches in the cold though. We came across a cyclops family. We tried to befriend them but they would not listen, slew one of our own and so we fought them. It was very.... disappointing." she smiled regretfully. The paladin thanked Winnie for the tea and soup enjoying the warm steam waiting up from it.
"Domitius, it is good to see you."

"It is good to see you too my Lady, may I ask who fell to the Cyclops?" Domitius respomded.

He smiled at Winnie when she returned "My thanks fair maiden." and gives her a wink.

Lounging nearby, Berta grins at her sister-in-law, but makes no comment, having no wish to deprive Winnie of either such entertainment nor what tips she might thus earn.

The Half-Orc she doesn't know, but makes a note of the name as the occupants of the table greet her, impressed that anyone who tried talking to the one-eyed beasts was still alive to regret it ...

... then frowns, remembering that Mariam was one of the group that went out with Marceline.  And as she listens intently for Half-Orc's response that recollection brings with it a fervent prayer to the Mother of Souls that her companion on the long journey to these frontier lands was not the one who fell !

She looked down into her tea for a moment falling silent, she looked up at her companions "his name was Gehron, I had not known him for long but he was a brave warrior and fought furiously."

"He traveled here with us from Restov, he was... bold.  I hope he rests peacefully now." He raises his goblet in toast to the memory of the fallen warrior, he hadn't particularly liked him but he would respect his memory.
