Nino:
Nino had absolutely no clue what was going on. He saw the floating elf and the gem and figured the wolf was guarding the treasure. Then everybody was thinking that somebody was asleep so Nino yelled at the wolf and floating elf,

WAKE UP!!

Well got to give him credit specially if it worked :)

Honestly,  even with just IC knowledge,  Rivka would advocate to release her.
I mean, she might be able to tell us about this place.  And if she was responsible for the fall of the place, well then the dwarves should have left a note or something

Dwarves dont leave notes.

PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE THIS WOMAN SHE IS ACTUALLY A DEMON.

PLEASE RELEASE THIS WOMAN AS SHE IS A PARAGON OF NATURE AND GOODNESS.

It is just asking for the bad guys to break in and release her or kill her as the case may be. I mean that is just bad in general. From an in character standpoint this is a 50/50 chance that she A) has useful info and B) is not an enemy. It is a 75/25 break on not an enemy. And 90/10 on not having caused the cataclysm that wiped out the top of the stronghold.

Re: OOC:

Yacob beat me to the punch.

Nym would ignore you guys if you told him not to release her.  She is an elf.  Therefore in Nym's ethical world she deserves Nym's help.  If it were obvious that she was a Drow elf then he might consider listening to your advice.

Note:  Nym's ethical world is a bit different from most elves.  This is because of his class as well as his being an elf.

Re: OOC:

Hence the first post Zell. One of the few times I allow metagame knowledge to dictate my actions. In big games i avoid threads i am not actually in to avoid knowing that the black spirals are attacking or that Prince Xizor is actually bring setup by Guri to emancipate the droids of the galaxy. When I GM I actively punish metagaming because I dislike it so much.

Intelligent, methodical Ancients would have set it up as one of two options. Option A something thought to be nearly impossible(A red dragon flying over the throne of Cormanthyr without being attacked) or stupid simple(a dwarf walking under the gem and saying wake up friend in dwarven)

Re: OOC:

Absolutely Not!

I'm having a lot of fun with trying to figure out how to free you.

I play with the DM in another game here on RPOL who is a character in that other game.  We come here to enjoy games we have played since highschool but don't always have the time to play face to face any more because of work schedules, family commitments, and/or a variety of other reasons.

No one is deliberately being mean or cruel to you or anyone else here.  As other stated we are discussing our character's thoughts, behaviors and motivations behind their actions.  As another friend of mine points out from time to time on a different website, the written word doesn't always convey the exact meaning and intent of the author with regard to their passion or other emotions they are trying to express.

My apologies to anyone here who I may have inadvertently upset or offended.

As to Nym, he is an elf.  However, he is young (130) for an elf and he enjoys teasing his friends and flirting with girls in the party.  He will also flirt with NPC girls too.  As you can see from his quote "An unjust law is no law" he's not above helping those who are downtrodden under a law while those who have wealth aren't held to the same law.  He won't go out of his way to break a given law on purpose, but he damned well express his opinion about injustice when he sees it in action and is likely to jump in the middle of it.  He is also a bladesinger and the requirements for this class may require him to do things that the rest of the party would counsel against or outright disapprove of.

BTW, NYM can take the teasing just as well as he gives it.  So don't be afraid to tease back.

Re: OOC:

I also hope no one is taking this discussion personally.   I'm in another game where every discussion seems to be perceived as a heated argument,  and i definitely don't want that here
I actually understand Zell's point of view both IC and OOC, and while Rivka normally is very understanding of the old saying "Let Sleeping Elves Lie" , she is willing to make an exception in this case as their purposes here is exploration

Please don't worry, Kalia.  Our discussion has nothing to do with you as a player or wcen as a character.  We're just having a friendly debate.  :)

*smiles*  It's an awkward situation.  I'm running a game where new characters were introduced into the middle of a dungeon adventure, and it's been awkward trying to get the new people in without it being awkward.

Re: OOC:

Rivka, introducing new characters is always awkward.  Even the game where both AO and I entered separately was awkward.

I think AO has done a very good job of trying to introduce Kalia to our group.  The issue we have is not with Kalia, but rather with our ability, or lack thereof, to free Kalia.

Again, that is my opinion.  Take it with a grain of salt for what it is worth.

To everyone, I would suggest reading the character descriptions for the individual characters on the cast page.  If you haven't created one create one.  It doesn't have to be as detailed as Zell's is.

BTW, I like Zell's detailed background it does help me understand his thoughts and motivations for the way his character behaves. His is much more detailed than others I have read, or even mine.

Re: OOC:

By the way, could somebody explain to me where I "metagamed"? I googled it up to make sure of the meaning:

Metagaming is a term used in role-playing games, which describes a player's use of real-life knowledge concerning the state of the game to determine their character's actions, when said character has no relevant knowledge or awareness under the circumstances.

This is how I picture it. We came up here to explore and hopefully find old ruins, which we did. We had to solve a puzzle to find the secret door, which personally I would never have figured out. Then we go inside and make sure we can open it again to flee, if necessary. More caves and then we find Kalia Danais' character? And the party's actions want to free her, while my character has "thoughts" and "doubts"? By reading the posts, it's obvious the party has no clue who she is, so why would Zell's thoughts be considered "Metagaming"?

IMO, wanting to free her without knowing anything would be a very risky and dangerous thing to put the party into, so why do it? Just because OOC we know she's a PC? Those actions, IMO would be "Metagaming".

Just adding my 2 cents. :)

Re: OOC:

I didn't see anything in your posts or anyone else's that would even suggest metagaming.

If anyone has, it might have been me before I posted in the OOC thread about helping elves in need.  Even then I have in my character description something about helping elves and others in need. So I don't think anyone did or has.
