Her pale complexion was not the only thing that separated Neliwen from the typical elf of logfire tales, lacking the proverbial elven grace and stealth. Keeping close to the paladin in his armor, she hoped her own inability would not be noticed.

Yacob discounts as they get closer to the skirmish lines. It isn't long before he starts muttering about mages not being thieves. And yet somehow he manages to walk through the leaf strewn forest without making a sound.

09:04, Today: Yacob Stoneveins rolled 19 using 1d20.  Move silently.

Re: In search of an immortal

Sonori may not be a scout, but she seems well practiced at a reasonably level of quietness.

She can't help but think that Quinn and, oddly, Neliwen, sound like drums beating through the forest. She's pretty sure even elephants would be quieter than Quinn.

"When we are at the closest, let me know. I can cast silence, but it only lasts a few minutes."

20:12, Today: Sonori rolled 22 using 1d20+7.  move silently.

Re: In search of an immortal

With the forest abound in nature and noise, the group set off quietly to pass enemy lines.

...until Quinn starts moving.

It was clear that stealth would not be a good option, so the two scouts picked up the pace. Within minutes, the sounds of something shadowing your left flank could be seen and heard. Kelem swore as he looked back. "Never mind stealth....RUN!"

With that, the elf started running quickly towards the forest, pausing only to fire arrows.

The tension grew the closer they got to the village, when Kelem gave the warning Neliwen started to run. She didn't ask a question, a sidelong glance at the shadows was enough to tell her they did not have a choice. The elf made haste as fast as she could.

Rivka normally trusted her own senses and judgment, but this wasn't her home territory, so she deffered to the native guide.

She ran, working to keep up with the other tracker, while trying to keep near her party.
If she caught a glimpse of movement of a pursuer, she would also fire an arrow.

OOC:

17:41, Today: Rivka rolled 3 using 1d8+2.  Arrow damage .

17:41, Today: Rivka rolled 12 using 1d20+11.  Bow.

17:41, Today: Rivka rolled 25 using 1d20+10.  Fortitude .

17:40, Today: Rivka rolled 29 using 1d20+10.  Fortitude .

17:40, Today: Rivka rolled 22 using 1d20+10.  Fortitude

I suppose if i was destined to get some 1s, this was the better choice. :)

As soon as the guide said "Run", Zell went invisible. He could keep up with the party, but he didn't know how long. He kept an eye on the party members and if one lagged behind, he would slow down for them.

Kell's endurance is tested as he runs full out. With a speed of 40' and unarmored, even though he carries more than 150 lbs, he is hardly breathing heavily at all. He stretches out his Tremorsense to detect any enemy positions nearby and warns the others when they veer too close to any foes. His hammer is in hand to deflect any arrows or spells shot his way.

Re: In search of an immortal

The group sets off at a run through the forest, following the elven ranger with rivka following him. The two stopped, firing off arrows every so often, with the two archers hitting things with squeals of pain.

Most of the group kept pace, though Nino was confused by the ordeal...running for no reason, and slowed the group down.

For what seemed like an eternity you ran, when you came to a clearing. The sun was getting low....you hadn't realised but most of the day had passed!

The clearing was a mile or so wide and a mile deep, with a river running through it, roughly 8 to 10 feet wide.

The group slowed down as they approached the river, beads of sweat on all peoples brows from the distance traveled. Pausing at the river, you turn to see enemies coming from the trees that were behind you.

Almost like a wave, enemies came out....goblins and kobolds, mixed with humanoids, trolls and ogres with one giant. The sheer scope of enemies was daunting...even with the three elves that joined, the group was easily outnumbered ten to one.

The hoard looked at the group and slowed their frantic march to a stalking. Within 100 feet you all hear a call.

"WAIT!"

The hoard, as a group, stops in its tracks, many with looks of confusion, fear and hesitation. From the hoard, a woman strode forward with two figures flanking her. One was a drow male, leather armor and a bow. The other was a burly bugbear with a huge greatclub. This woman was issued a lot of respect from the army, partying ways to allow her through.

The woman herself looked human, standing just over 6 feet tall, with piercing grey eyes that held no hint of emotion. Her hair was blonde and shoulder length with an undercut. She had two tattoos of what almost looked like claw marks down her left eye and cheek. The woman had a simple chain shirt and a wicked two handed sword at her back.

"So this is the group shes so consered about?" she snorted,  issuing laughs from the hoard. She stepped forward, her cold eyes looking at you all.

"I don't know how you defeated my scouts, but I'll say this once....give me the stone and I'll give you a quick death, worthy of a warrior."

She drew her sword, twirling it and placing the blade on her shoulder.

Yacob snorts which causes mist to form from his new snout. Which causes him to laugh. "Do you know why she is afraid of us? Because we know what you don't and I for one am not giving you anything whelp. Now I give you a choice leave and take your raiding party before this turns into a bloodbath for you. You are not wanted here." his grin turns fierce. "Last chance." he yells.

The woman looked at Yacob with a smile that looked cold, calculating. "Fear? She doesn't fear you....she see's you as nothing more than a nusance. She fears one man, and your not him.

She held her sword now. "If you want blood,  come and get it dragonman, but it will be your blood, and either way, mother will get what she wants. she pointed the sword at Yacob. "My army surrounds the elves....we creep slowly in, and when we reach that village, i will pry the stone of life from that old fools dead fingers. I won't hesitate to do the same to you.'

Re: In search of an immortal

Neliwen had stayed close to Quinn, for one it was easy to keep up with him in his heavy armor, two he was the likeliest to provide her with any protection. As they reached the river, the elf turned around, listening what the enemy commander had to say. However, her stomach was in knots and she was sure it would come to blows, she took a step behind the knight, instantly feeling safer. Grabbing the bag with the supplies tightly the scholar ran one hand over a cured leather strip that hung from her waist, muttering words of archaic meaning to herself.

She listened to the exchange between the enemy and Yacob, wondering where he took the courage to talk down to her or was it courage fuelled by desperation? Neliwen wasn't sure what to expect, except for a fight for their lives, and drew another sigil into the air, protecting herself what what would inevitably head her way.

Kell, caught without armor, pulled his heavy shield down and drew his longsword. It wasn't much protection, but it would have to do. His skill could deflect weapons, but it couldn't beat a horde unless he was able to intimidate these things.

He raised his black gauntleted hand and pointed to the giant with his other as a wicked black axe materialized.

"TWO HITS DEAD!!"

Nino then starts making Bear noises.

Sonori didn't like this at all. She wasn't a fighter. She was a healer. And her spells prepared reflected that.

But she wasn't dumb. They were after the stone.

It seemed it would be a fight... One she didn't want and wasn't prepared for...

She clutched her belt pouch, called out, "You'll never get the stone!" Bluff: 27 And she ran, jumping into the river and swimming hard and fast down and downstream, not bothering to come up for air.
