Welcome to everyone who was selected! We'll get started as soon as everyone has their character sheets done.

For character creation, stick to the Player's Handbook unless you get permission from me to use something from another (official) source. Use the 27-point buy method for determining your ability scores.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh, one other thing; if, when looking at my portrait, you could impose an imaginary blue-white filter, you'd have a better idea of what I'm supposed to look like. I couldn't find a white Dragonborn pic...(though if someone is any good with digital picture manipulation or knows where I might find a decent white dragonborn pic, I'd be appreciative of the assist).

What are we doing as far as forming the group to begin with. Do we know each other already, or are we going to be meeting in-game?

The original adventure assumes that the characters are already an adventuring party. However, we have a pretty diverse group, so I am considering coming up with a small, introductory scenario to get everyone together. I'll think about it more overnight, but I am definitely open to everyone's insight/suggestions on this.

I'll get my description posted tomorrow. I spent all day traveling and have to get up early to travel for work tomorrow, so calling it a night early.

I'm a Dwarf Druid with the Soldier backstory. Had some good military experiences as a blacksmith for my unit before being transferred to one lead by a corrupt, racist human who abused his position to murder half-elves. Happy to tie into anyone that could relate to any of that.

Dookie, I need to audit my equipment. Otherwise, my character is done.

As for backstories, my guy was booted out of a tribe up north, spent a few years roaming the wilds, and worked as a mercenary. He plays a Celtic version of a lyre and likes jokes.

Might have met your Druid if he was hired to support your company. Dunno if that would fit.

I might be a Sorcerer, but you wouldn't think it to look at me; I've the physique of an athlete and the trappings of an outdoors(wo)man. You know, apart from the whole dragon-lady thing. Ooh! I play the lute, but I'm also skilled in drums, lyre, and flute.  We can totally jam out.

Though she's a diva herself in  her performing aspect, Aliandra has something of a fascination with heroic types. She's learned that her most popular songs were those which reported the daring deeds of adventurers, so she wants to get the scoop on other bards by joining the ranks of those on the front lines.  So, sort of like Taylor Swift mines her relationships to get hit songs, Aliandra mines the people who explore mines.  And dungeons. And haunted castles.

Re: OOC
Well, Paran is calm...

... as a disadvantage, he sometimes gets controlled or carried away by the Fiend entity with whom he has made a pact.

Afterwards he feels miserable and tries to make up for it.

I need to work with the DM how he/she wants to deal with flaws, and how we can make this into a flaw without being too disruptive within a "good" group.

As for backgrounds, I don't know who might want to tie his/hers to mine. Paran comes from a wealthy family fallen onto disgrace.. to top it up he started showing signs of having some weird blood in him that marked him as a tiefling so feeling angry and betrayed, some other warlock saw the opportunity of using him to seal a pact with a fiend. He got into it a bit unknowingly but with the rage, and rebellious nature that he had, it was some time until he noticed the monster he was actually turning into.

He has been fleeing from that life, but the pact still holds, and the Fiend has his dues.

So... in the fleeing part is where I guess it makes most sense. Paran can be from almost anywhere geographically so in that sense he can adapt to anyone's background. His is criminal.

By the way, I went for Fiend for I think it fits his background... the other option I was playing with was the Old Ones... which brings the telepathy into play... I quite like this option too, if we imagine some kind of entity Cthulhu like or something. Its a bit less of punch power, but its not that bad and it may open roleplaying options...

I am not sure what kind of module we are going to play though if its a lot of combat then Fiend might be better....

Re: OOC
It is possible Paran and Lucien are acquainted. I don't know that Lucien will have traveled far from his home city for the beginning of the adventure. Lucien would have been familiar with many local criminals. His background is Charlatan, but I'm interpreting that to say he was a spy for the local lord, who worked the criminal underground. He has since become... disaffected from his work.

Hmm...Mags could be persuaded into mercenary work, I suppose, though it's wouldn't be her chosen profession. Her background is that she's fled her CE white-dragon-supremacist family, looking for a new life. Her upbringing was a little sheltered, so if the first dude she came across was a buff mercenary type with a killer 'tach and he introduced her to his line of work, then yeah, I guess she could happily fall in to a merc lifestyle!

@DM:

We are a rather large group, if we are going to rp our meeting, even if its just in groups of 2, it is going to take ages to get going.

If you don't mind my suggestion, given that you have the info from all of us, could you just weave some common background / backstory of the last days or months or whatever fits, as to how we got together and where we are at with what goal in mind ?... I think we are all mature enough to take a given backstory and run from there.

I really think that given the size of this group it might be a big awkward to set up a scene that actually gets all of us together without loosing a lot of time.

@Magdelain: Thats great... if we do it ourselves for the whole party then so much the better. But knowing where we need to be probably might end a plausible link for all of us.

I just have been in too many games that didn't get past that first scene. Got stagnant before even starting when some of the characters didn't reply or DM got despaired because no one seemed to be going anywhere just making fantastic in-character posts that took them no-where, because it went against what their character would do... :p

I am sure that if you guys have been around long enough you have seen this in one flavour or another :)

I see a lot of you are working on backgrounds/hooks/etc. here and in the private messages. That's great! Continue to do that while we wait for everyone to finish their character sheets. Then I think we'll just start and assume that everyone has come together already as a loose party and work out the rest of the details as we go. This will allow us to get right into the main story.

Also, please let me know when you are done with character creation. Once I hear from everyone, we'll get started.

Vimak is also traveling south, leaving his tribe who's ancestral home is high in the mountains, far to the north. He doesn't play an instrument but he would see the idea of a band as tremendously novel. As long as the group continued to seek adventure and greater challenges he would tag along. At 7'6" and 300 lbs he would make one hell of a bouncer...

I imagine you mean Lucien ? there is no Falen here :) maybe a char of yours from another game ?.

Thats great, ok if it works for you, it works very nicely for me too. Let's see it can be a tight friendship, both knowing where the other is coming from, understanding and leaving the space to each other without becoming judgemental, but keeping those "falling-from-grace" streaks under control.

@Toppor, @Vimak: I am not sure where we come from either. Both Lucien and I would be leaving a prosperous city, probably would feel a bit at a loss at the forests... and we are both the squishy type (more or less) so I guess that if your characters are not squirmy with regards to a bit more shadowy characters, you'd certainly feel like a necessity to Paran. Anita: to give you a little more info, Lucien is actually an ex-spy who worked in the underworld where he met Paran and helped him move on from some dark times. Pulling him towards the light would probably be very appropriate for his backstory. Paran, thoughts?

That might do nicely, Antia being the moral compass and you providing the way out...

It would need to be close friends then as it's kind of hard to take someone external as moral compass or trust him enough to pull you out of a mess of murders and corruption of evil-demon grade.

The Conan the Barbarian Soundtrack. The music to that film is just epic and nothing gets me in the mood better than listening to that opening narration, followed by the awesome title music.

Bandit 1  -- Fighting Vimak --  -10hp
Bandit 2  -- Fighting Paran --  -4hp
Farmer 1
Farmer 2
Farmer 3

Or something of the sort to keep track, it's really confusing as it is, and you probably have it all sorted out in your head, but for us is quite hard to follow through.

Sorry for the two-month (plus) absence... :(

I have some mental health issues (among other things) that occasionally lead me to disappear for a while. Things are going well for me now, and I'm missing roleplaying, so I'd like to see if I can get this game up and running again. I can't promise I won't disappear again in the future, but I will do my best to give you some warning if that should happen again.

Having said that, is there anyone here who might still be interested in continuing this game?

We've got a lot of applications. I'll be selecting some new blood over the next couple of days.

If you are okay with it, I would like to jump ahead just a little bit...

After meeting with Garyld, who knows nothing more about the orcs, the party is approached by a merchant who will pay them 15 gold pieces each to escort a river barge down to Thurmaster, where they need to go anyway to see Tauster and collect their pay for delivering the letter (10 gold pieces each). The trip to Thurmaster is uneventful. We will start up again as the party is on its way back to Milborne to collect the barge-duty pay. The new party members will have joined up with the party during this time.

And I have given each of you some extra experience for sticking around. :)

Re: OOC
I'll give the recap a shot. Lucien is the group rogue by the way.

The party has recently traveled from The Spotted Owl Inn with a chest belonging to Gordrenn, allegedly a purveyor of magical goods. The chest allegedly contained magical components for a wizard named Tauster who lives in Thurmaster in the province of Haranshire. Now I say allegedly, not because Lucien is paranoid, but because the party voted against checking the contents of the chest. Even after a ragtag group of farmers attacked the group because they were convinced that the chest was full of dark magics, the party still believed the chest ought to be delivered to Tauster.

As a side note, the party had only been paid with a letter of credit worth 150 gold after confirmation of delivery. If 150 gold seems like a lot to deliver a chest to a relatively peaceful hamlet, then you're right. Not that there's any evidence of any illicit happening with the wizard or his supplier since the box was not inspected and the villagers were not interrogated.

Once the party arrived in the town midway to their goal, they were asked by the locale residents to check up on Tauster's apprentice: Jelenneth. She had not been heard from in some time and people were beginning to worry. After resting, the party continued on to Thurmaster where they delivered the box to Tauster. The wizard had no news of his apprentice so the party went in search of her. After convincing the local magistrate and a druid to help them track the girl, the party came upon some orcs who were summarily beaten back, but with no sign of the girl.

The party also successfully managed to capture and restrain a werebear, who the magistrate was trying to find and help. We left off with the group debating pursuing the orcs under the assumption that Jelenneth had been kidnapped by them. As a tangentially related note, the promised reward for the girl's return was 400 old pieces. Just throwing that out there.

Re: OOC
Cool cool, thank you both for posting that up.

Its pretty much like it says in Alessandra's description, she's a member of one of the oldest and most powerful noble families in the city of Neverwinter, her family has always had a strong connection to the worshippers of Tyr and has included several clerics and paladins of the Maimed God. As a girl Alessandra grew obsessed with stories about noble knights, her own ancestors among them, and brave adventurers; so she pretty much dedicated her life to become one. And now that she has sworn her Oath to Tyr and stood her vigil in the Grand Temple of Justice in the heart of Neverwinter, she is now a sworn Knight and Paladin in his service. So she is off and out into the world seeking quests both to prove herself and make the world a better place.

That is assuming that this is taking place in the forgotten realms... if not.. well then I'm kinda in trouble. :p

Re: OOC
Either or is very possible, the last time that I played Alessandra in a game we also had a tiefling woman with us, although she was a ranger and not a cleric. But in general Alessandra tended to be a bit cold toward her, because its hard for her to imagine anyone with daemon blood in them being entirely beyond the influence of the Demons and Devils. But she also does her best to assume that the she is good until proven otherwise... that is probably the tack I'm going to take.

It should be interesting to see how it turns out.

As far as whether this campaign takes place in the Forgotten Realms, I don't think that has ever been explicitly stated.

The party's old druid actually departed with the NPC druid when we parted ways, do it seems reasonable to me that they might have sent a friend our way.

I'll bump the advert to find a replacement for him and Cathasach (unless you're still with us, Cathasach; let me know!). I would imagine we'll get some interested parties pretty quickly, so we should be able to keep moving along.

Alright, 'Kol Zad' is a fucking sweet name. Totally gonna lift that sometime in the future.

By the way, what's our current loadout of skillsets looking like now that the party has mighty-morphin-changed-the-cast? I know for sure

-Antia is classic cleric (horns 'n sulfur notwithstanding)
-Lucien is face-y and scout-y and stab-y
-Cathasach wrestled a bear once (I'm way too proud of that)
-Albrecht is a druid(?) and a scout

How are the rest of you fellers focused? And how can we work to help you kill things and look cool?

Oh, also welcome. It's good to have you here. I've been putzing around the past couple weeks but I'll be checking in properly now.

Thanks and you are more than welcome to do that. I thought it was a cool name for a half-orc though I am usually horrible when it comes to naming a character.

As for how Kol functions in a fight he is the standard sword warhammer and board type with heavy armor. Aside from that and some barbarian lite abilities gifted to him due to his orc heritage. So at the moment he can only really hit things and take a little bit of a beating as well.

That being said I can change him up if need be.

This was posted in the technical area by one of the admin guys on the 18th November.... might still be having a little bit of trouble with it.

Hardware fault.  Luckily we've got redundancy, but trying to recover from the fault caused massive resource overload.

I've come up with a work-around that has reduced load by about 30-fold, so hopefully that will tie us over until the recovery completes.

Sorry for the interruption.  I'll be contacting the provider regarding this failure.

I'm honestly not sure myself, although I think I volunteered to be our parties ambassador to any farmers that we do meet. I'd like to get a better idea of the plan myself?

Also, are there any questions in particular people want me to ask the locals? I'm still getting my feet under me with this game so I'm not sure about some of the questions I should ask and shouldn't ask?

Re: OOC
My understanding of what has been put forth was to start towards the nearest farm and then slowly make our way inwards further in to the Mire, talking to farmers as we go for those that are in further. IE: go to this farm on the most outside near us - then go to the next farm closer in, etc - until finally there are no more farms and we just head in to the mire unless any farmer have given us a better idea of what's going on and where more specifically we should be heading to.

As a heads up for everyone, my wife and I have our wedding anniversary this week and I am anticipating not being around much on Thursday and Friday. I'll try to check in and post if I'm able to, but otherwise don't expect much from me until the weekend.

And now that you are close to solving the New Mire problem, we might be adding an additional player, whose character will be joining you after you return to Milborne.

Seirye decides its time for her to get her familiar. She spends one night at the tavern performing the necessary ritual. Procuring the necessary charcoal and incenses costs 10GP. I've updated my wealth

Fizjl.
Tiny Celestial Spider (Good)

AC:12, HP:1, HD:1d4, Init:+2, Bite +4 1P, PP:10, Stealth:+4
Abilities: Celestial, Climbing, Darkvision, Spider Climb, Web Sense, Web Walker

Fizjl is female and has a deep purple hue. She looks like a wolf spider. She has decided that she will live in Seirye's hood unless she wants to see what is going out at which point she will climb up onto Seirye's shoulder.

Seirye visits a tailor and has them sew a small pouch onto the inside of the hood. It has stitched walls with a leather insert, rather than just being a single flap of cloth. Consequently it is slightly squared off with a little rigidity. Fizjl moves in right away.

Real life is important. Bad things happen without warning - it's happened to me - and players can't get onto RPOL to let you know for a variety of reaons. However I think that if someone doesn't login, let alone post, for seven days you probably need to move the story on. The DM can run their character.

I hope everything works out for Gallus.

The group fund sounds fine although replenishing spell components can be expensive. I typically just budget it as buying a new component pouch (25gp) every so often, GM discretion.

I should probably start a standard Detect Magic routine when we get loot? Especially when we are in downtime or towards the end of a day with unspent spell slots.

If anything is found and if I have an additional free slot then casting an Identify would be the next order of the day but I don't usually prepare Identify unless we know it will be needed.

After your last post, we took on Karon of course and then headed off to the Count's keep to drop off the delivery. After doing that we met his son who is a little too eager to get himself killed as an adventurer. Re: OOC
A few points to summarize:
  • Lucien's idea to set a trap is good, but will be very difficult to pull off.
  • There is no one in Thurmaster or the surrounding area who is familiar with the inner parts of the Shrieken Mire, so you're more or less on your own as far as exploring goes.
  • The lizardmen might be able to guide you, but they appear to be keeping a distance from you.
  • You don't want to go head to head with a giant, and especially not a group of them.
  • You don't want to go head to head with a dragon, either.

Having said all of that, the situation in the Shrieken Mire should be resolved before we move on to the next story event, so I will tell you this: The dragon is the key to solving the problem.

Also, we will be adding one or two more characters to the game to help you out. Ideally, due to the difficulty of this story, we want to have between 6 and 8 characters. We currently only have six, and two of them are largely inactive right now due to real life issues. So I'm hoping that having a couple more characters (and their players) will help.

If you have any questions or need more guidance, don't hesitate to ask.

Meanwhile, inside Seirye's head at that moment...

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)

Surface thought:  ...now if we could extend the longevity of the third focussing gem through an arcane tap to siphon off the excess energies... no, wait, Arch-Mage Rhoderic tries that back in 328... but... but... what if we could isolate the elemental flux into a separate stream, and then the tap is far less likely to fail, allowing us to increase that power a hundred-fold...

Unconscious thought: okay, so if the cheek muscles tighten and lift towards my eyes, like this, and then I drop the lower lip like so... it should have created a warm and welcoming smile, shouldn't it? Are my eyes supposed to be squinting? Oh, wait, have they just seem a monster? They look terrified

Sorry for the confusion. I had posted in this thread that the party should be at the inn, but you are correct that it wasn't clear in the game thread.

As a heads up, I'm waiting to hear back from Antia and Albrecht's players to see if they are still able to be a part of this game. I know they both have had real life issues that have been making it difficult for them to participate. So things are kind of up in the air right now regarding their statuses. Once I know what is going on with them--hopefully, by early next week--we'll know how to proceed. In the meantime, please go ahead and continue with the roleplay at the inn.

I'd like to get some 10 more rations (5gp), 3 flasks (6cp), a bottle of fine wine (10gp), a pitcher of common wine (2sp), a sack (1cp), some sealing wax (5sp) and a tent (2gp).
This comes up to 17gp, 7sp and 7cp.

I just want to have an abundance of rations on me, just in case. And then I hope I'll get to run out of them at some point, too.

I am not sure how you're handling perception checks (and checks in general). Looking at the dice roller, I see you've made checks in the past, but forgive me not scouring through the backlog too thoroughly - do we roll whatever we want at any point we want? Do we get our checks called out? Are they sometimes rolled without our awareness, too? Do we whisper the rolls to the DM or post them in orange at the end of the post for all to see? Any other roll-related rules? Just curious! And thanks for bearing with me.

Re: OOC
Good question. In general, you can roll for something or just post what you are intending to do and I'll roll for you; it's up to you. If you do roll, you can post the results in orange at the end of the post, as you indicated, or, if you'd like to keep the roll hidden from the other players, you may send it to me in a PM; again, it's up to you.

Regarding Perception checks, in particular, they will often be made without your awareness. If you notice something, I'll let you know.

Overall, I'm pretty flexible when it comes to how we handle die rolls.

Let me know if you are fine with moving on and I'll summarize and prepare to move on to the next part of the story.

Also, do you have a sheet you prefer or can I just use mythweavers?

We're probably most lacking in Int skills at this point? I'm honestly not sure where we stand on social skills since Karon is surprisingly good at them. We've got a couple solid scouts, but it never hurts to have more.

Karon is naturally persuasive (and a little intimidating), but he is rather naive and not much of a liar, so there is room for someone more talkative for sure. But I agree, we lack brains and spells, I should think! But really, I prefer it if people play what they like, if we all end up playing barbarian berserkers, we'll just deal with that :D

At this point, keeping track of rations and such isn't too important. As long as you occasionally restock when you have the opportunity, that will suffice.

Hey all, quick question, especially for the DM.

I'd much prefer to write in the same past tense format that Volani O'Tamu is writing in, it feels far more natural.   When I joined the game I saw everyone writing in present tense, so I conformed to that without asking.

Do people have a strong preference?  Does it matter?  Happy to be adaptive.

Mechanical question: can I ready a bonus action? For instance could I make an attack with my action and then ready my bonus action to cast healing word in case someone drops?

Re: OOC
You could probably just put it in the OOC. As in I do X with my action, and if any of my companion is down when my turn comes I cast Y as a bonus action.

(Also, remember Karon is a half-orc, so he won't go completely down the first time he hits 0...)

DM fiat of course, but as it goes in the books I think you can only ready an action, not a bonus action.

Re: OOC
I don't think it's a question about the rules of the game as much as how the GM wants to resolve combat at a brisk pace (as he has). With us all stating our intent and rolling our dice when we have time to post, not in initiative order, and the GM then resolving our actions in the initiative order, having a caveat like 'I'll do X if Y happens' would make sense, within reason of course.

It could be used, for example, if Karon makes an attack on the dog he's fighting, wanting to kill that first, but if that dog is dead he would prefer to strike at the dog attacking whatever member of the party needed his help the most, rather than at a random beast. I think that would be reasonable.

Ah, sorry, my mistake with the dice roller. So much more used to getting an advantage. I've edited the post, the attack hit AC 14 and not 16 as I previously stated, but that should hopefully be enough to connect.

Edit: Going back through the log I notice I did the same mistake on the last turn. Sadly I didn't tick the box to record all the dice like I usually remember doing. Here is a new roll for that. Sorry about that.
17:01, Today: Karon rolled 8 using 2d20+5, dropping the highest dice only with rolls of 13,3.  Re-rolling previous turn's attack due to mistake with dice roller.

Lucien didn't find any tracks (obviously) and Volani didn't detect any magic, by the way.

And the two men were killed with bladed weapons. The each have chain mail, a longsword, a longbow, 20 arrows, and a holy symbol of Ilmater.

With no tracks, we have no way of following any pilgrims potentially taken prisoner. That leaves the bodies and the dead dogs.

Karon has no really strong opinion one way or the other on burning the doggos. If we have the time and firewood and feel confident we won't come under attack again, let's do it. If we hear howling, we run for it.

He will want to bring the bodies back, since there was a good point made about speak with dead. It also gives their families a chance to bury them rather than just knowing they got killed and buried somewhere out there.

With a group this size, perhaps we need a leader to make the calls, so as not to have an endless IC debate about fairly inconsequential things?

I believe we should rest while those of us who don't need the benefit (might just be me) collect wood to burn the dogs. Then since we can't find any tracks *ahem* we take the bodies back to town and look for someone who can cast speak with dead. Lucien knows a druid, but no bards or clerics that I remember. At least none that aren't currently members of this party.

Waiting seems like the better option. Given a reasonable amount of time we can assume that if he doesn't return then we can leave with our guards up and ready for trouble. And if he does return then he'll have information for us.

For anyone who is interested, I'm starting a Monte Cook's World of Darkness game and could really use some good players: link to another game. It's one of my favorite settings, and the longest game I ever ran on RPOL was an MCWOD game. You don't need to know the system (it's a d20 system). From what we learned about the Gleaming Glade: Several of Parflray's companions were lost, swallowed up into a pit of inky tar, along with all of their equipment and loot, and the dying priest's final curse blighted the woodland for nearly a hundred years

Black moss makes me think this might be the remnants of the tar pit. It is also possible we will learn something at night when, presumably when the glade starts gleaming. So digging is a good way to pass the rest of the day.

It seems digging was the right move here. Very interesting.

I guess we need to try to figure out what sort of enchantment is on the three items (or four, not sure if the scroll case has been preserved by magic or if the silver is black after being in the ground for a while.

I don't know how our DM wants to handle the identification process. I guess three characters could try to take a short rest bonding with the items, but that is risky since they might be cursed. The possibility of a curse is not something Karon would consider much, so he'd be willing to try to identify something, for example the sword.

Copying Spells from a Spell Scroll into a Spellbook:
A Wizard spell on a spell scroll can be copied just as Spells in spellbooks can be copied. When a spell is copied from a spell scroll, the copier must succeed on an Intelligence (Arcana) check with a DC equal to 10 + the spellís level. If the check succeeds, the spell is successfully copied. Whether the check succeeds or fails, the spell scroll is destroyed.

Re: OOC
Hello Gazira and welcome to the game!

The region is called Haranshire. It's a pretty out of the way area, but they've been having a rash of issues lately: bandits, orcs, and the like. There are two small towns both located on the river that runs through the region: Milborne and Thurmaster. They're several days apart though the journey goes more quickly if you take one of the barges that frequently travel back and forth between them. The local Lord is Count Palfrey. He has a keep near Thurmaster (we're currently on our way to see him).

Our party is returning from a journey to the Hardlow Woods where we were investigating a local legend about a place called the Gleaming Glade where Count Palfrey's ancestor defeated an evil priest a very long time ago. Before that, we had done a few jobs for the Count to take care of various issues in the area.

Assuming it's already late afternoon or evening I think we should stay in town. I think some people wanted to do shopping maybe?

On that note, do we want to do a quick accounting of what we collected on this latest trip?

We can probably just divide the 71 gold, but who has the Platinum choker and the emeralds? I believe Karon had the weapons and the shield, would anyone want those or should we just offload them? Lucien has the scroll case, which is itself made of silver, plus the three spells scolls (which he can't use) and the letter. I don't believe there was anything else we collected either from the Glade or the goblins was there?

I wanted to copy the scrolls into my spell book for sure. Beyond that, I have no idea what we will have to spend and what is available for what we'll have. Off hand I might say better armor, and spells. What any of that might cost, I am not sure.

Re: OOC
Rissa would want her share of the gold, and if anything was sold she'd want her share of that, especially the emeralds

However, if they were just being handed out?  She'd decline the choker and let someone else have it.  She's trying to make friends.

@Terminax.  Doesn't look like there are any rules saying the scrolls get burned up if you copy them.  However.

quote:
For each level of the spell, the process takes 2 hours and costs 50 gp. The cost represents material components you expend as you experiment with the spell to master it, as well as the fine inks you need to record it. Once you have spent this time and money, you can prepare the spell just like your other spells.

You're gonna need cash for fancy paper and inks.

Re: OOC
I put the 71 gold pieces into the "group fund," which brings the total to 673 gold pieces. If anyone wants anything from that fund, let me know what you're taking and I'll update the total.

The platinum choker with emeralds can be sold for 1500 gold pieces. The silver scroll case can be sold for 150 gold pieces.

There are three spell scrolls:
  • stinking cloud
  • fly
  • dispel magic

If you want to purchase anything, check with me first, as supplies in Thurmaster will be limited.

Tauster will have the items you listed; you can purchase them from him at the normal price.

Barranas, the owner of Thurmaster's general store, can buy the scroll case (for 130 gold pieces) but you'll have to sell the choker in Milborne or see if Count Parlfray is interested in it.

Re: OOC
Hey newcomer, I'll recycle the plot update I gave Gazira.

He has a keep near Thurmaster (we're currently there and talking to his son).

Our party just returned from a journey to the Hardlow Woods where we were investigating a local legend about a place called the Gleaming Glade where Count Palfrey's ancestor defeated an evil priest a very long time ago. Before that, we had done a few jobs for the Count to take care of various issues in the area. Right now, we're laying out a plan to travel into the Thornwood to seek out Spire Keep. The place was mentioned on a scroll we found in the Gleaming Glade. We're hoping to uncover some information about the history of the area.
