Here's to hoping the next guys check in with progressively more durable fists.

LOL
Hey we have a Rockfist and an Ironfist.
And that would be a Mountain and Hill dwarf.

Perfect!

Re: OOC

Cathasach Drust:
Dookie, I need to audit my equipment. Otherwise, my character is done.

As for backstories, my guy was booted out of a tribe up north, spent a few years roaming the wilds, and worked as a mercenary. He plays a Celtic version of a lyre and likes jokes.

Might have met your Druid if he was hired to support your company. Dunno if that would fit.

That would fit in fine. Toppor was in a good company for quite a while before things went to crap after the transfer.

Re: OOC

I think I'm pretty much done with my character.

Aliandra, as mentioned, is something of an adventurer groupie. She is likely to contrive an excuse (truthful or not) to accompany any party that looks like it's heading into interesting places.

Re: OOC

@Lucien:

That might be good, if you want you might have been an instrumental in Paran's exit from his fall down from grace. I think that might be a good and strong bond, leaving out both from the same city.

Re: OOC

Cathasach Drust:
I am very much chill with the idea of meeting Magdalein on my way southward. Would she be the mercenary sort?

And on a side note, we ought to plan ahead with regards to who is going to be who in the band. We need, at minimum, one cool headed money grubbing type, one artsy hippie, and one Sid Viscous psycho.

Hmm...Mags could be persuaded into mercenary work, I suppose, though it's wouldn't be her chosen profession. Her background is that she's fled her CE white-dragon-supremacist family, looking for a new life. Her upbringing was a little sheltered, so if the first dude she came across was a buff mercenary type with a killer 'tach and he introduced her to his line of work, then yeah, I guess she could happily fall in to a merc lifestyle!

OK, racism just isn't funny, but I had to laugh at the idea of "White (Dragon) Supremacy."

Re: OOC

@DM:

We are a rather large group, if we are going to rp our meeting, even if its just in groups of 2, it is going to take ages to get going.

If you don't mind my suggestion, given that you have the info from all of us, could you just weave some common background / backstory of the last days or months or whatever fits, as to how we got together and where we are at with what goal in mind ?... I think we are all mature enough to take a given backstory and run from there.

I really think that given the size of this group it might be a big awkward to set up a scene that actually gets all of us together without loosing a lot of time.

Re: OOC

Whilst I'm happy to "cut to the chase", Drust and I have already sorted out a preliminary meeting between the two of us, with potential to rope both Aliandra and Toppor in without too much hassle (if they're willing, of course)...that's half the party.

Re: OOC

I'm fine with being roped, too.

Wait, that came out wrong...

IF a scene is player driven and runs while players finish up their characters, it might work.

Re: OOC

I also don't have a problem being scooped up.But yeah, with half the party potentially in already, it would be even easier to build off of whatever we get together than to start from scratch.

Re: OOC

@Magdelain: Thats great... if we do it ourselves for the whole party then so much the better. But knowing where we need to be probably might end a plausible link for all of us.

I just have been in too many games that didn't get past that first scene. Got stagnant before even starting when some of the characters didn't reply or DM got despaired because no one seemed to be going anywhere just making fantastic in-character posts that took them no-where, because it went against what their character would do... :p

I am sure that if you guys have been around long enough you have seen this in one flavour or another :)

Re: OOC

I see a lot of you are working on backgrounds/hooks/etc. here and in the private messages. That's great! Continue to do that while we wait for everyone to finish their character sheets. Then I think we'll just start and assume that everyone has come together already as a loose party and work out the rest of the details as we go. This will allow us to get right into the main story.

Also, please let me know when you are done with character creation. Once I hear from everyone, we'll get started.

Re: OOC

Vimak is also traveling south, leaving his tribe who's ancestral home is high in the mountains, far to the north. He doesn't play an instrument but he would see the idea of a band as tremendously novel. As long as the group continued to seek adventure and greater challenges he would tag along. At 7'6" and 300 lbs he would make one hell of a bouncer...

OK, so a little roll-call is needed, I think...

Hands up everyone who comes from "the far north", "the mountains" or "frozen wastes" and is travelling south right out of their backstory?

Finishing up my sheet had a quick rules question. Is a two handed weapons damage just the dice plus str mod or is it different, as in previous additions?

I imagine you mean Lucien ? there is no Falen here :) maybe a char of yours from another game ?.

Thats great, ok if it works for you, it works very nicely for me too. Let's see it can be a tight friendship, both knowing where the other is coming from, understanding and leaving the space to each other without becoming judgemental, but keeping those "falling-from-grace" streaks under control.

@Toppor, @Vimak: I am not sure where we come from either. Both Lucien and I would be leaving a prosperous city, probably would feel a bit at a loss at the forests... and we are both the squishy type (more or less) so I guess that if your characters are not squirmy with regards to a bit more shadowy characters, you'd certainly feel like a necessity to Paran. Not that he is the picky type either so...
