Re: Isle de Los Tiberons

Trina cocks an eye Sharn and Teruo's direction.. perplexed at the vernacular of their conversation, uncertain as if she is understanding correctly.

So she asks, "... forgive me if I'm misunderstanding the meaning of your words.. you have many colorful local colloquialisms, but am I to understand... I'm not welcome here on this isle?  I've not met anyone here save you two.. why would I be .. unwelcome? I've done no harm to anyone nor do I intend to do so, save in self-defense?"

She holds her left hand far away from anything nearby a glowing orb of roiling fire ready to release at any target she wills.

"Anyone willing to help us fight is most welcome as far as I am concerned. I am happy to have you near. I think my accomplice was concerned that others may be interested in what you can do though. But I cannot think of a better way to learn than in combat."

Re: Isle de Los Tiberons

She nods smiling gently, "Well you need not worry about that.. I'm more than willing to fight to protect the peace!"

"As for my magics... I'm mostly a fire wizard so lots of fire based attack effects fireballs, explosive fireballs, flaming jets, flaming missiles, flaming weapons..but also some light based flash blinding effects.  I also do some pure combat defensive spells ranged and melee shields, as well as some minor healing, health transferal in emergencies and information and stealth covering spells like mystic mist to cover an approaching attack force.  Don't be concerned I'm accomplished enough to also extinguish the fires I create control, shape and or fireproof or add fire resistance to targets as well."

"My... magics are stronger in the day than at night I draw magical energy from the sun."

"...er.. and once a season my magic is unavailable a random night, but I always know 24 hours in advance when that night will be."

"Oh, I can manage a night of unbelievable magic more than once a season, but that is always a very private affair..." Teruo whispers, before adding "...but good to know. I know nothing about magic, but plenty about fighting. Now, can your magic make this beast come so we can get rid of it and relax just a little?"

Re: Isle de Los Tiberons

Trina's eyes go wide and she blushes a hot pink from her ear tips to her fetching cleavage... the ball of fire in her left hand sputtered a few times but remained lit and even better un-exploded!

But she smiles a little nervously... not use to being flirted with.. among the elven boys of her home she was... half-blood and mostly undesirable.

"Aheh, I'm sure you could... b-but uhm.. yes. I- I mean No, I do not use compulsion spells, sorry."

Looking at the explosive fireball in hand then glancing at Kyrie, her red-feathered eagle familiar upon her shoulder.

"Er.. were I not currently holding this spell I could potentially rider within with Kyrie and with her keen hawk vision find the beast from high above. But I'd have to stop holding the charge of this ...very potent explosive fireball."

In reply to Trina (msg # 64):

Glancing at the fireball, Teruo responds coolly, looking through the scope of his rifle at the surrounds, as much to stop himself from distraction as to look for the beast.

"Sorry for distracting you. You are right, we should stay focussed. I am not used to fighting beside women. How far can you throw that fireball? Perhaps a fire off in the distance might send prey towards us...with the predator in pursuit."

Trina turns her attention toward the terrain below the defensive rampart, pondering...

Answering, "Optimum range is 25 yards, maximum range 50 yards... but the spell will engulf a 10'ft radius, 20'ft blast area in flames and WILL set flammable object in the area on fire!  Unfortunately, until I cast or dismiss it I can personally cast no other spells."

She cast a glance at the Red Eagle sitting upon her shoulder...

"I'd rather not waste the energy to... 'fire for effect'... but there may be other options.  Are there birds on this island? My familiar Kyrie can speak with birds... if there are any int he area they might inform him of the exact location of the beast."

She grimaces, "Kyrie can only speak to actual birds... but he's FAR from helpless.  Kyrie can cast breathe fire... I'd feel sorry for anything that thought to make a snack of him."

She sighs, "Which brings us to another option I could have Kyrie fly about breathing fire on the underbrush to ...'encourage' the beast out of hiding.... but I am VERY opposed to such abusive waton destruction!  Perhaps, just patience will serve us better?  Random fires tend to get out of control in unexpected ways."

She fidgets a little uncomfortably, "Eh... technically Yes I CAN, ...as you put it 'remote control a fire'.  But magic takes energy it is not an unlimited resource... especially in my case!  I could set an entire forest ablaze... but then I'd be spending energy to control it from getting out of control instead of spending energy to destroy our prey.  The further away the fire the more energy it takes to affect.  I'd rather not exhaust myself."

He pats the grenade hanging from his belt (not by the pin of course!).

Re: Isle de Los Tiberons

Teruo,

You can barely see a cape water buffalo off in the distance. it would be about an American mile away. As you watch something big and green leaps out of the jungle. There is a flash of red and the buffalo is gone.

"Godzilla" or at least it's baby brother is lurking on the island.

Trina,

While it normally takes a bit of concentration to feel the magic in the area. You feel something magical happen. As if a great mage has cast a powerful spell off in the Ocean to the east.

Teruo watches the area closely in order to try to see what it is that lurks there. The way it was able to hide disturbs him somewhat, and he also double checks the closest places near his lookout something could hide.

In reply to Island Spirit (msg # 74):

Trina watches as the great lizard leaps from the forest cover to take down the Cape Buffalo and just as fast get back under cover.

Then the bloom of magic to the East out across the waves draws her attention...

She comments absently, "Teruo, that great lizard is no beast.  It's intelligent... an Apex predator with no rivals does not behave that way."

"And there is a really powerful spellcaster to the East... over the waves. I cannot stress HOW POWERFUL..whoever that is, but know for me to detect whatever they cast at this range without even concentrating to feel it, their power is Reality Breaking!"

Turning back to where the Great Lizard attacked, "We are not ready to fight this creature, it moves with a speed and a malevolent hunting intelligence... it will not come here or move from its cover unless its ready to kill.  You will need to lure it out of cover, it will not come here."

Trina slowly dismisses her Explosive Fireball reclaiming as much of the energy she put into the spell as she can... yet still the exertion is clear upon her tired expression.

"What is the direction to the community... I'd like to get some food and rest?"

She looks off into the distance and a reddish feathered Eagle swoops down to land upon her shoulder...

In reply to Trina (msg # 76):

Teruo gestures to the small settlement below.

"That would be the place to rest. We will stay on guard.

It may be an intelligent predator, but so are we. That is why we need to wait for it, or lure it out. But unless you have an idea how to lure it out without risking lives, and probably loosing them, then we will continue guarding. I think the beast we were looking for was bigger than that, though. So that one may not be the apex predator.

Oh, and the mage to the east may be Sylvie, a demi-goddess.

Her eyes go wide at the mention of a living deity walking among the beings in this realm.

"What IS this place?  Does it have nations and great cities? Who rules here... the Demi-Goddess?"

Trina grimaces, clearly wanting more info that she is getting about where she is.

She sighs, "Well.. I've been walking all day and would very much like to get something to eat and a bed to rest for a few hours."

"Good  fortune to your Guarding efforts but I'm pretty certain that beast will not be coming here in broad daylight.. its too easy to see out of the trees and it is smart enough to know not to show itself as a target.  You'll not lure it out into the open.. you must fool it into revealing itself."

She turns and following the direction Teruo indicated walks away... toward the settlement... Red-feathered Eagle perched upon her shoulder.

Re: Isle de Los Tiberons

Trina:

You find a village that has a partial wall surrounding it. the wall starts at a creek flowing from the interior and heads south. It appears that the inhabitants are building a palisade around the village.

A youth in a multicolored uniform holds a weapon similar to the other boys in his hands. Topping one end is a decent sized knife. He sees you and yells out.

"Halt, Who goes there?"

Teruo:

The beast seems to be toying with you. You watch as it deliberately rustles the brush just out of rifle range. You get glimpses of it's green scales. It seems that the creature is avoiding your shelter. if you didn't know any better you would think that it was trying to draw you out into the swamps it calls home.
