Re: OOC Thread
In the interest of keeping things moving, I will have the Inquisitor depart assuming there were no questions on Tuesday if no one has posted.

If you do have questions but you are busy and don't have time to post before Tuesday, just post a message here on the OOC board and I'll give you a day or two more. Not trying to rush, would just like to keep things moving in case some players are only waiting for the story to continue.

Re: OOC Thread
Alright, we've been in the briefing for almost two weeks now. I think it's time we move on.

In my last ditch effort not to rush things, I'll give people until tomorrow to at least post here on the OOC board and let me know that they have more questions for the Inquisitor.

If I don't hear anything, I will continue the story tomorrow. If I do hear something, I'll wait until Monday but at that point we're moving on.

While Sister Phyria doesn't mind that responsibility in-character (although she will pass it off if she believes someone else to be more qualified), as a player I am fine with trying the democratic method first when it comes to major decisions and then seeing if we even need a tie-breaker or not.

I'm alive! The past couple of weeks have been insane >.> Hell, the past year has been insane. I've gone through three cars, none of which have been my fault. The hell year?

Re: OOC Thread
I've had my own rough weeks as we were getting started, so fully understandable.

Also, my suggestion for leadership was in part just to put a name forward. Please feel free to discuss and decide amongst yourselves. I wanted to put a name forward to begin the discussion and provide an easy default if there were no strong opinions - Phyria seemed like a logical choice for the Inquisitor to make.

There's a lot of directions this game could wind up going (I think that's fairly clear from the briefing, given that there is not one central thing to focus on). At times, you'll need to draw your own conclusions about what you think is going on. Sometimes you'll be right, sometimes you won't.

It will be helpful to have a player who ultimately decides what you pursue next when one idea conflicts with another. It doesn't mean anyone is wrong, or that you won't do the other thing, just provides a way of prioritizing given equally viable options.

By the way, I really like the way the character histories turned out. I've always been of the opinion that DH2e lends itself to character history development through the homeworld, background, and role decisions. The format we've followed in building characters was new to me, and has really made me interested in exploring some of your character backgrounds more in depth.

I had intended on running a campaign centered around - and ending with - Cromia, but I definitely think there's great opportunities for things to expand beyond that as long as people stick around (and as long as your characters survive!).

Hi all, some personal things came up for me today, I'm probably going to be preoccupied until this weekend sometime.

Don't expect a post from me until Saturday or Sunday. Thanks.

Re: OOC Thread
Thanks for everyone's patience.

Feel free to retcon any discussion between exiting the briefing room and landing on Cromia.

Fleisch, feel free to approach/introduce yourself. It will be obvious to you that this group is out of place on Cromia.

Speaking of which, I don't plan on telling you what your subtlety is, but I will let you know when it is changing (and if it should be obvious it has changed, I'll probably tell you how much). So, with that in mind, your team is obviously not native to Cromia, and that will be obvious to the Cromians. They don't know who you are, but they are definitely going to be suspicious of you.

Your subtlety is -7 to start the mission, but this could rapidly change depending on how much effort you put into covering your affiliation with the Inquisition. If you come up with a believable cover story, you'll alleviate the suspicion quickly.

One last note, you are absolutely not obligated to play this game trying to maintain subtlety. There are definitely pros and cons to either option in this mission, so don't feel like there is a right or wrong approach. That being said, I do plan to represent the population intelligently - so if you go around branding yourselves as part of the Inquisition it will certainly be difficult (or impossible) to start convincing people you're not. At the least, you'll have drawn a lot of suspicion.

Re: OOC Thread
I suppose the group needs a cover story then. My character has a genuine interest in artifacts. Perhaps he can act as a trader looking for some objects to purchase and ship off planet. This would explain the group's interest in artifacts and also why they are foreign on this planet.

Re: OOC Thread
So, things are progressing rather slowly, I wanted to touch base and see how everyone is feeling, and is there anything that I can do to help keep the game moving, or help players feel more involved?

What do you need to feel more comfortable jumping in? I'm anticipating a posting rate of 1 post per player every 2-4 days, but I want to make sure everyone feels motivated and interested in participating. Please let me know what I can do to help.

Re: OOC Thread
Hmm, well, I'm assuming that one of three things is going on.

First, it could be that people lack time to post, which is absolutely fine, although it seems unlikely that only one person has had time to post in the past week.

The other possibilities are that there's a lack of interest or compelling motivation to continue the story, which is something I can work on if that is the issue. If you feel like you are not engaged, let me know, and I'll see how I can make some improvements to draw you in more.

Alternatively, there might be a lack of interest in your characters or in the groups dynamic. If anyone is not feeling like they can "get into" their character, lets work on it. I have a pretty good sense of what I envision your characters being like, so maybe I can help you solidify your character's personality. Or, if you'd prefer, we can adjust your character concept to be something more interesting to you.

If it's more of a party dynamic issue, we might be able to improve that by giving up some background information on some of the characters. If you know why the Inquisitor chose other people on this mission, you might have a better sense of everyone's place in the party.

In the end, I need something to go on. I think the character concepts and the party we have here are fantastic for the story I wish to tell, so I'd like to improve and work through any issues that may be inhibiting people from getting involved. Give me some feedback on what we need to do and I'll work on it.

Re: OOC Thread
I think it's the unlucky dynamics that happened in the beginning of the game. Personally I feel curious about both the characters and the story to unfold, I love playing all the Warhammer 40k rpgs and feel motivated to go ahead and continue, even though I've got some personal hardships and lack of time momentarily.

It's just as if the whole thing was running in an unnaturally slow pace even for a forum game. In my opinion if we want to go on, we should all do it together. The increasing activity of others will motivate those still interested in the outcome of the game. What we might need is a reset in our minds, or another chance for the game to revive.
Of course these are just my impressions. The way things initially stuck could've possibly caused the inactivity we're facing now.

We'd need a new shared determination to get things running again and I think we might all have a great game here.

Ready when you are. :)

Re: OOC Thread
Thanks for the feedback Amundsen!

I did have two interruptions that unfortunately did disrupt progress of the game early on. I can see that as being a major contributing factor to the current slowness.

If others feel the same way, please let me know!

Re: OOC Thread
I figured people might be busy over the weekend, so I'm really hoping to see some replies today. I am committed to improving the game and keeping things moving, but there is not much I can do without some feedback.

Ideally, we can get players to start posting for their character in game. At a minimum, a reply here indicating your interest in continuing (and when you can get an IC post up) would be good.

With Amundsen on this. I have a few ideas for my character in relation to the group but I do not want to just take initiative without consensus, if that makes sense. Rather curious about the unfolding story.

I still check daily and I can post several times a week.

Re: OOC Thread
The good news is, I do have other applicants who were interested that I can work with to get characters in the game.

If the three of you are willing, I'll give the other players at least until Sunday to express their interested in continuing the game. If we hear nothing, I'll start replacing them and probably restart the game.

I'll begin the process tomorrow of bringing on a few replacements. It might take about a week to complete character sheets, but I will try to get it done as quickly as possible.
