Character Creation Notes

3rd level characters at start. Multiclassing is not allowed at start but is an option later.

For ability scores roll 4d6 six times, rerolling ones, drop lowest. You can take the standard array after rolling if you prefer.

Max HP at all levels.

All characters start with one feat (variant humans get two).

Allowed races are listed below.

Pantheon is listed in below.

I have the Players Handbook, Xanathars, Mordenkainens Tome, Sword Coast, Volos, and Tasha's. Only options from those sources are available.

The Artificer class and racial customization options from Tasha's are not allowed.

Sailor/Pirate background and any nautical options are not available.

Character Creation Equipment

Roll for starting gold as per class. You may keep this as coin or use it to purchase equipment.

In addition you get starting equipment as per class and background plus 300 gp that can only purchase additional equipment or training in a language or tool proficiency. Starting equipment may be traded at full value for other equipment.

Each character starts with one common or uncommon minor magic item from the list below. If a weapon, armor, or shield you must pay for the base mundane item. Additional Common Magic Items can be purchased at 50gp each.

All equipment in Players Handbook is available plus:

Explorers Badge 25gp

Expedition pack 5gp 10 lbs.
Holds 4 cubic feet/100lbs.
(Standard pack won't hold most equipment sets.)

Potion belt: 2gp 2 lbs. Holds 6 lbs of potions and vials.

Potions:

Animal Friendship 100gp
Greater Healing . .100gp
Water Breathing . 100gp

Scrolls:
 Cantrips . 25gp

Character Creation Languages

I am using experimental rules that treat languages differently. Each script counts as a separate language. Each character starts knowing their native language and its associated script plus two other languages or scripts. Each additional language from class or background lets them two languages or scripts.

A script only lets you read the letters/symbols It doesn't give you any understanding of the language.

A language lets you understand the words if spoken, or if written in a script you can read.

Some languages share a script, others may use several scripts.

Known languages and  [scripts]:

Common - [Common]
   Main human language.

Galician - [Common]
    'Latin'; ancestral human language.

Dari - [Common]
  Spoken by the desert tribes, including Lizardmen.

Rajasthani - [Rajasthani]
   Language of  the country on the far side of the desert that caravans trade with.

Atzinako - ['Commercial' Atzinako and 'Liturgical' Atzinako]
   Ancient language predating Galician.

Khepri - [Heiroglyphic]
   Ancient, possibly mythical language.

Draconic - [Draconic or 'Liturgical' Atzinako]
   Dragonborn speak Draconic and use the Draconic script.

Dwarvish - [Dwarvish]

Elvish - [Elvish]

Gnomish - [Dwarvish or Common]

Goblin - [Dwarvish]

Halfling - [Common]

Orc - [Dwarvish]

Sylvan - [Elvish]

Tabaxi - [Tabaxi]

Giant - [Giant]

House Rules

You can use either STR or CHA as your ability modifier for Intimidation checks.

Druids, Nature Clerics, and Rangers can use either INT or WIS as your ability modifier for Nature checks.

Sling is considered a thrown weapon (use STR modifier).
