Hey everyone,

Thanks for joining the game!  My goal is for everyone to have fun and do awesome things.  Like I said, I'm planning on running this adventure at a con in am about 2 months, so feedback is greatly appreciated.  A content warning, this game will obviously contain serious violence, gore, and horror. If you have any questions or need to discuss any touchy subjects for you, feel free to PM me.

Savage Worlds is a very pulpy game, where heroes are larger than life. While it is generally less lethal to PCs than Call of Cthulhu, the exploding dice mechanic "Aces" can occasionally be extremely lethal. Because this is a shorter game, I will allow the first person to die to play Bake for play testing purposes, but after that, any deaths are permanent. The Achtung! Cthulhu setting adds rules for horror and terror, but given the right tools and some planning, the heroes do have a decent chance of beating the horrors of the Mythos.

For the new people or those who need a refresher on Savage World's, here is a short primer:
Savage Worlds Primer

For the ambitious or obsessive, here's the official Savage Worlds "test drive" rules:
https://www.peginc.com/freebies/SWcore/TD06.pdf

A few house rules/setting rules for the game:
  • We will be using the new Shaken rule, so that a successful Spirit roll allows a character to immediately act. (This rule change is in the primer above and the PDF rulebook you can buy online, but not the test drive rules above.)
  • I allow players to assist another player's skill roll with any skill roll that they can justify. (E.g. Vic-Vic is rolling a Driving to cross a rickety bridge. Mukhtar can assist with a Notice roll to spot rotten planks on the bridge.  He cannot assist with a Fighting or a Healing.)
  • Due to the hostile desert conditions, guns will jam on a 1 roll of any Shooting die, unless the character has cleaned their weapon in the past 12 hours.  (I'll assume all guns were cleaned the morning of the first day, but from then on, it's on you.). They can be unjammed with a +2 Repair roll.

Feel free to look at the rules and read the Intelligence Report and Orders thread. I plan to send everyone profiles and character sheets tonight and hope to post the first scene tomorrow.

In the meantime, feel free to introduce yourself. I'm from California and am currently running a FFG Age of Rebellion game in real life, as well as playing a friend's D&D 5e campaign.

Hey everyone, I live in Nevada and personally can't wait to play. I'm a sucker for horror games especially ones to do with Cthulhu. Never used Savage World's before so this should be a fun learning experience. Looking forward to getting eaten along side you guys!

Hello Izzy! I'm in NYC and new to Savage Worlds as well. I'm less into horror/Cthulhu stuff than I am Pulp and am looking forward to playing a non-Medieval Fantasy game.

Here's to our diminishing sanity!

Hello, everyone! I'm in TX, and I'm a huge fan of all things Lovecraftian, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this game despite knowing absolutely nothing about the system. Also a fan of good RP, so I'm very eager to et started and get to know you all in character :)

Joesphine, RP is important too me as well and as I've never been to TX, I hope you'll advise me if Sarge begins to sound wrong.

For that matter, I'm only Chinese in this game, so I'll be doing my best to portray this rightly too.

Seems to me that this is going to provide some great RP opportunities!

Sarge, the great thing about being from TX is that it's so big, and has so many people from other places, that you can sound like just about anyone and be totally fine! Just slip in a few y'alls here and there (yes, we really do say it) and you'll be fine :)

I agree that it looks like we'll have some awesome RP opportunities! This looks like a very interesting group of characters.

Buy you lot live in big HOT areas of the country. Okay looks like I am the only Brit here. So hi from this side of the pond. Savage worlds isa fairly good system.
It base can be used to do almost anything.
I have seen it use right across the range of role playing with a high degree of success.

Hi everyone!

I've included links to PDFs of your characters sheets and your full profiles in Google Docs in your character descriptions.  Take note that each character has a mythos experience and secret about themselves beyond the background and personality already included.  If you have trouble accessing either, please let me know.  The profiles should serve as a base for your character, but I welcome any additions that fit the character for you.

The first scene is live.  Let's do this!

Also, the truck has the gun in the bed, the jeep has the machineguns mounted in front of the passenger seat.  So if Mukhtar is on the machinegun in the back, he's in the truck.

Assuming Mukhtar is in the truck, Josephine is in the jeep's passenger seat. I'm fine with trading if you want to, Mukhtar!

If there's no driver yet for the truck I'd be happy to do it.

truck is fine
guess I was confused

do we have a way of realistically taking out armored vehicles?
I don't know but I figure Khatti would know how to get it done if we have the gear to do it, I saw one of the guns has some ap ability
I have no idea if it's enough tho I hope so heh

At the moment heavy explosives are our best bet. I think someone on the team is carrying them but getting close would be difficult to say the least.

In reply to Cpl. Mukhtar Khatti (msg # 17):

The AP on your weapons will get through body armor and the natural protection offered by an unarmored vehicle, but won't scratch a tank. Nancy's explosives will, if she can get close.

Got a question for the GM. So the TN is four for the driving test right?
