Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Aatami's scythe reaves through D1 like a knife through butter, and despite not being cold iron, easily sunders the minion. Meanwhile, the Ogre rears back and roars in agony, staggering back from the burning wound.

Killed d1, shook the Ogre. Nuka, you're up.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Well, the gun was useless with the single shot already fired.  Nuka dropped the weapon and dug the bonesaw out of their bag.  Time for the backup plan.

With surprising speed and dexterity the physician bounced down from the table and scampered across the floor to the rubble.  They jumped up to stand beside Thomas and used the wall for partial cover as they swung the bonesaw at one of the monstrous hoard.

Nuka rolled 4,4 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4,4. Melee Attack.  +2 for Gang Up Bonus makes it 6.

Nuka rolled 4 using 2d4, rerolling max with rolls of 3,1.  Damage.

Window shattered, Thomas not so much. No damage to the unfragable krunk! D6 climbs into the window sill, half in. D9 finally breaks the door down and runs right at Akane, moving to F12.

D3 aims and shoots at Nuka, the easiest target.

09:46, Today: Mr Warlock rolled 5 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5.  Shoot Nuka.

Hits. Rolls damage.

09:46, Today: Mr Warlock rolled 8 using 2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,3.  Damage Nuka.

Nuka you're shaken as the arrow hits you. Akane is next.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
The remaining combat is fierce, as the undead warriors begin invading the house. Some go down, but the rest are purely unrelenting. Just as things get too severe, dawn begins to encroach, and a gong rings through the village. The remaining zombies, whose numbers you have severely depleted, look up and to the east, then completely abandon the fight, pulling away.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Thomas made sure to keep his cold iron poker handy, and calls out to the others. "Let's get out of here while the getting is good!" As they withdraw, he makes sure he is last to go-in case the dead that walk regain their courage.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
As you all withdraw, you see a figure floating slightly in the far distance. The creature must be truly massive to see it from here, for it seems the creature is several miles away, yet you can make details of a large, bulky and obese frame, wild shaggy white hair, and hideous fangs on a maw that no mother could ever love. At first it looks like a female Ogre, much like what you just slew, but this one has no horns, but instead a foot-long thin pointed nose.

Akane instinctively looks up, not even yet seeing the figure, but senses it. Her eyes widen as she slowly turn to the distant monstrocity, and her eyes only widen worse from there. She utters just one word.

"Run."

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Thomas ran, glancing over at the Oni and wondered what she had brought up them. He doubted any of them...or even all of them...could beat whatever that giant thing was. Maybe even if they all had cold iron weapons.

Akane had many questions to answer-assuming they got to a place where they could safely talk.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
For one that normally shuffled, rather than walked, Nuka was surprisingly fast when forced to be so.  The physician kept pace with those that were running, even as they clutched a hand over the hole where an arrow had gone into their shoulder.  They had broken the shaft, but a portion still protruded, short enough to hopefully not catch on anything in their harried flight.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
The skies begin to darken even over the rising sun as the four of you flee the village. A deep rumbling follows your wake, as you look up to see dark clouds swirling above the town. As you finally reach safety, you feel a building of power, glancing over at the giant ogress, seeing she's waving her arms in an obvious incantation. Then, with a sudden release... Well, hell is the best you can describe it.

You fall to the ground as a sudden shockwave crashes from the village behind you. You turn your heads, and feel abject terror at the sight. The entire town is being bombarded with a hail of terrible flaming stones, raining from what you first mistook as clouds but now can only describe as the smog of Hell itself in the sky. Already the center of the town is devastated. What the initial impact was, you come to find out, a massive meteorite, a span across, smoldering in a crater. All around, lesser stones continue to buffet the town. You hear screams of agony, thankfully short due to the insane devastation across your vision.

Slowly, the rain of fire ceases, leaving ashes and death in its wake. You can feel the giant ogress's eyes turn to you, almost mockingly, before the terror turns and dissappears into the distance.

Thomas turned, feeling helpless and angry. Had they led that thing to the town? Had Akane's presence been the draw? "What the hell was that!?" He said to her, gesturing to the giant and what was left of the town-if anything.

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Akane collapses on the hard ground, eyes rimmed with tears as she watches the devastation, only able to utter a single word, "No..."

As Thomas spins to face her, the giant woman looks up at the equally giant flesh golem and shudders a little. She turns to where the monstrocity stood moments before. "That... That was Amanozako... That was my Witch..."

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
In reply to Toriyamo Akane (msg # 145):

Seeing the horror on Akane's face shocked Thomas out of his own fear. Monsters did not feel despair and horror...people did. He had forgotten that somewhere along the way. Travelling with his inhuman friends-and letting his own inhuman nature overwhelm him, he had stayed away from feeling too much. That way lead only to madness, and if one of their kind went mad-many would suffer needlessly.

He slowly reached for her shoulder, and helped Akane to her feet. "I'm...I'm sorry." He said, rubbing her arm gently. Much like he had done with his wife so long ago when she had been frightened. "It's not your fault. You, me...the others." He gestured to Aatami and Nuka. "...we are just their pawns. Maybe at least we can warn others-and give them time to prepare."

Nuka turned their head slowly, seeming to scan the destruction on the horizon from behind the thick, smoked glass of their mask.  The mask made it impossible to read any emotion from them, and their voice seemed just as sharp and snappish as ever.

"Bad thing.  Should move.  Find safety and regroup."

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Aatani was not one used to emotions, before when he was human and now that he was a monster but he did feel for his companion.

"you are wrong in one thing my friend Thomas.... we, non of us are pawns to these vile creatures anymore.... somehow we had the strength to break free...keep a glimmer of ourselves in our un-beating hearts. That makes us stronger than them, that makes us dangerous to them....that makes them scared of us...and eventually we will find a way to redirect that fear onto them and destroy them utterly."

His Ornate mask pulled back revealing the true devastation the witch had brought upon him...his skin pulled tight upon his skull, a vision death and decay " I look at you with my true face, something I have not down in many years.. This is who I am ....the walking  dead ...but I am not going to go back to my grave without a fight.... but being a commander and a battle lord I cannot see a way of defeating this witch and thus I suggest we follow our friend Nuka's advice and retreat to safety, regroup and find that way that means to bring and end to all these hags"

Re: Chapter One: Arrival
Akane stares a the three with a sense of wonder. Despite the oddity tugging at you, her sudden smile is warm enough and beautiful enough to melt the hardest heart. She gingerly (well, as gingerly as a 7 foot tall ogress could) accepts Thomas's support to her feed and nods slightly. "You are right... I... thank you so much for bearing yourselves to me. I have not felt this heartship in many times since coming over the Darkwall... Thank you.

And, wrong in one place, Master Aatami.
" She turns to him, grinning widely. "Amanozako is powerful. Many say she is as strong as the Crone. The one that made you, I think, Master Thomas? But... She is petty. Like child petty. I... feel she did this to show me the 'err of my ways' for breaking of her grasp. But she can be defeated. Her anger is both legendary and pitiful. She has been beaten before, and she can be again. Come... Let us find a resting place, and I will explain her more."

Thomas smiles at Toryiyamo, squeezing her forearm lightly to comfort her. Lack of human contact had been hard for him at the beginning of this...bizarre journey. Not to mention she looked almost totally human, much like Thomas himself. Of course, he had always been average looking from the start-not like Toryiyamo. "If she can be beaten-then we already are in a much better situation than with most of the other witches. We might be able to keep her from ever doing this again."
