Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

"Kaylessa said that the bakery is just down the road that way..." Mayon muses aloud, glancing down the path the direction she had pointed out, then back at Bramwell and Verthel. "Shall we see if Mr. Lorren is available?"

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

Morg spots Bram and the two other pointy eared folk from before. Catching up to them as they head north, he says "Bram, Jak and a new acquaintance of ours is at the tavern, and... are you heading to the bathhouse?"

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

Lorren's Bakery has a large sign hanging above the storefront, consisting of a carved and painted wooden round loaf the size of a small cart. The air smells of delicious bread being cooked within.

As Bram, Mayon, Verthel, and Morg approach they see several figures inside the bakery mixing dough. Others carry new loaves from the ovens outside, where a small table displays fresh baked bread to a small gathering of customers.

One of the attendants greets the newcomers as they peruse the nearby cheese-topped buns.

"Messer Lorren's off to the Helm for dinner just now," she says when asked about the proprietor. "He should be back later this evening."

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

Bram inclined his head toward Morg and replied, "Bathhouse?  No, that's not where I was headed, but perhaps I ought to.  You look rather dapper after your visit, my friend.  Did you learn anything?"  He motions up the Long Road, "We were headed to the bakery to confer with the proprietor on the rumors of a ghost outside town."

At the bakery, the Glyphscribe introduces himself courteously to the staff and thanks them for the information about Lorren.  "We just came from that way, but we're new in town and couldn't have recognized him.  What's the price for the cheese buns?"  Bram will buy two buns and make his way back toward the Helm and the poultry shop once his companions had concluded their business, if they had any.

Morg starts at the mention of ghosts.
"Uh, um, the baths are nice."

"I saw a feller covered in flour at the tavern - may be who you're looking for. I think Jak and Asano, our new acquaintance, are still there."

"I'm off to get the dinner I ordered at the inn, and then I'll meet you at the tavern."

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

Mayon purchases a bun for himself as well, since the crumblecake had been, less than satisfying. Taking a bite out of it as he followed the two out the door, he listens quietly.

"Should we stop by the tavern first? It's closer, I think, but there's also that girl...I think her name was Pell? We could go talk to her as well." He then glances over at Morg, realizing he'd forgotten his manners yet again.

"Ah...I think I heard you mention your name was Morg, right? I'm Mayon. Pleasure to meet you."

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

"Your dinner may be something of a moot point, sir dwarf. Their kitchen... exploded," he says, with a hint of his own disbelief.

"Otherwise, I'd be eating something else besides this... 'crumblecake'... they provided us. Not terrible, by any means, but I always prefer a hot meal to a cold one."

"Mayon - a pleasure laddie." Morg says and makes a small bow.

To the drow he says, "In that case, Asano's offer for a hot meal at the tavern sounds more promising than something from an exploded kitchen."

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

Bram wraps a spare bun in a cloth and stows it in his travel pack, then departs the bakery alongside his companions with the other cheese bun in hand.  He finishes the bun with much satisfaction just as he arrives at Mhandyvver's Poultry, wiping crumbs off his chin prior to entering.  He courteously introduces himself to whoever attends the business, then asks if he might speak with the girl Pell about her ghost sighting.

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

The sun is beginning to set as Bram walks towards the south end of Red Larch.

The foot traffic has diminished noticeably, and Bram absently notes the names of several shops as he makes his way through the center of town. An Allfaiths Shrine, Tarnlar's clothing shop, and Waelvur's Wagonworks make little impression as he looks for the poultry shop. He realizes there must be more than one poultry business in town as he passes a long and narrow building proclaiming itself "Drouth Fine Poultry". He passes it by.

Bram finally finds Mhandyvver's Poultry nearly at the edge of town. Just past a plain, square building coated in grey-white dust sits a haphazard wooden building, sporting single-story wings and untidy annexes in all directions.

As he approaches he hears the clucking of chickens and the squealing of small children from inside. One of the doors flies open and a young girl races out, chased by four other children her age. A flurry of feathers follows in their wake.

Inside, he sees several older children repairing chicken pens. An elderly woman stands just inside the barn-like building, speaking with a few customers who look nearly ready to leave for the evening.

Red Larch map updated.

If anyone would like to accompany Bram you can post to this thread - if you're going to the Helm just post to that one instead.

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

The elderly woman turns away from her customers and greets Bram warmly, then her face grows concerned when he mentions the ghost.

"Don't you go bothering that girl with questions about ghosts," she says as the patrons depart. "What do you want with ghost stories anyway?" Her brows furrow as she searches Bram's face.

"We've been hearing about strange things around here and wanted to investigate." Mayon says softly, having brushed his own crumbs from the bun aside as they arrived. "Miss Irkell at the Inn mentioned Pell and her story, so we thought to come and ask for ourselves."

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

The woman looks from Bram to Mayon searchingly, then seems to make up her mind. "You seem like decent folk," she says finally.

"I asked that baker fella to check it out the other day, but I think he caught one glance of what he thought was a goblin nearby and chalked it up to gang of them creatures havin moved in. I don't know if he's right or not, but somebody with a backbone ought to go make sure it's safe." She describes where to find the tomb, based on Pell's description.

Day 1 - Bram/Mayon/Verthel

Bram raises a hand to reassure the old woman, "I assure you that we wouldn't trouble you nor the girl simply out of morbid curiosity.  I am an ordained Glyphscribe, an agent of the church of Deneir.  The destruction of undead is among my sworn duties."  He takes a step to avoid a pair squealing children chasing one another, looking a bit anxious at their rowdiness.  He listens to the old woman's information and thanks her, "Our thanks, madame.  Whether it be goblins or specters, we'll take care of the danger promptly.  Good evening you you, and to your grandchildren."  Once he'd scribbled down the new information in his journal, Bram beckoned to the others to make their way to the Helm to decide their next course of action.

Time to put the party back together, I suppose. Shall we just switch to the Helm now?

Yes, that makes sense to me, unless you want to do/look at anything between here and there.
