Mayon steps to the side a bit, keeping a quiet eye on Oreioth. His fingers flex slightly, concealing the pulse of magic around his palm.

Move up 5' to AL13
Readying an Eldritch Blast to fire if Oreioth or any other party members initiate combat.

Re: Day 4 - Lance Rock Part 2

Morg looks at grisly hand furniture next to him, then casually walks to the necromancer and hits at Oreioth's wand hand with his warhammer.
Move: 15' from AR13 to AU13.

Action: attempt a disarming attack on Oreioth, attack (with disadvantage): 15 vs an athletics or acrobatics check.

Free action: if the wand is dropped, kick it towards another party member.

18:32, Today: Morg Danforge rolled 15 using 2d20+6, dropping the highest dice only with rolls of 9,15.  Disarming attempt attack vs Oreioth with warhammer with disadvantage (wand held).

Re: Day 4 - Lance Rock Part 2

Oreioth watches Asano and the others warily as they begin to exit the chamber, and almost doesn't notice the diminutive Morg as he approaches and swipes at his wand. He dances out of the way at just the last second, and holds his wand aloft out of reach.

"Apparently your pet wants to dance with his betters. Bring him to heel or I will take you all as pets."
He begins muttering an incantation under his breath.

Map updated - this one should be fun =D.

Oreioth rolled a natural 20 to avoid the disarm =/.

Jak, Asano, and Mayon are up now. I'll give Mayon a surprise round as well, so you can cast Agonizing Blast as a surprise action & take another full turn also.

Morg will be able to take his normal turn at the end of Round 1 in addition to the failed disarm.

As Oreioth begins muttering, Mayon immediately unleashes the surge of magic that he had been preparing for just this occasion and smiling a bit as it struck true. Apparently the time to talk was over.

18:38, Today: Mayon Graycross rolled 6 using 1d10+3 with rolls of 3.  Agonizing Blast force damage.

Jak was only slightly surprised for a moment when Morg grew tired of the charade and burst in to action. He swung at the creepy lord but missed. Then there was a comment about pets and dancing.

Jak shook his head and called out mockingly to Oreioth. "If y'think Morg's a pet, you need t'get your eyes checked! Or maybe your brain is as rotten as your army!"

19:13, Today: Jakrynn Redgate rolled 2 using 1d4 with rolls of 2.  Vicious Mockery on Oreioth.

Re: Day 4 - Lance Rock Part 2

Seeing the others join in the fray, Mayon mutters a soft spell under his breath, allowing the Hex to take effect on the wizard's already addled mind before attacking once more. The beam swings wide, and he ducks back into the hallway to avoid whatever the wizard may send his way.

Bonus Action: Casting Hex on Oreioth--Mayon deals an additional d6 Necrotic (when he hits) and Oreioth has disadvantage on Wisdom checks.
Acion: Eldritch Blast--hits 10 AC, misses because I'm pretty sure he still has his mage armor from earlier :P
Movement: Moving back to AJ-12
Edit: Apologies, I misread the Hex rules. Disadvantage on checks only, not saves.

"Betrayers! You will all be the foot soldiers of the Lord of Lance Rock!" He grabs at Morg with a hand crackling with energy, but can't reach him. He smirks.

Abruptly purple mist springs up around his body. It quickly dissipates, but Oreioth is suddenly several feet away. He quickly ducks behind one of the tapestries.

Map updated.

Morg and Bram are up now.

Oreioth: Attack Morg with Shocking Grasp - cancels disadvantage. MISS.

Bonus action, cast misty step, move to AV10.

Move behind tapestry, west. Oreioth is not currently visible.

Re: Day 4 - Lance Rock Part 2

Bram had opted to remain silent during the exchange with Oreioth, because he would certainly have sabotaged the negotiations.  Instead he listened closely and observed the varying facets of the wretch's delusions.  When the inevitable hostilities begun he began to close with the necromancer, but he'd already teleported and then vanished through another tapestry!  The half-elf strode up next to Morg and assisted his friend in tearing down the cloth barrier.

  • Move to AT10
If Morg failed to pull down the tapestry:
  • Help Morg's Athletics check to grant him advantage (technically you're supposed to declare a Help before the roll happens, so this would be up to the DM)
  • If Help isn't possible, make my own poor Athletics attempt to yank down the tapestry:
    • 10:23, Today: Bramwell Caulder rolled 10 using 1d20+5.  Athletics (conditional).
If Morg succeeded at pulling down the tapestry:
  • Dash to get adjacent to Oreioth if possible, or adjacent to whatever creature may be blocking the way.

Morg and Bram manage to pull down part of the tapestry, revealing Oreioth heading along the wall towards Jak.

Map updated.

Jak, Asano, and Mayon are up now.

Surprise Round Summary:

Morg attacks to disarm Oreioth at Disadvantage: MISS.

Mayon hits with Agonizing Blast for 6 force damage.

Round 1 Summary:

Jak attacks with Vicious Mockery - HIT for 2 psychic damage. Oreioth has disadvantage on his next attack.

Asano attacks with Ray of Frost - MISS.

Mayon casts Hex on Oreioth, then attacks with Agonizing Blast - MISS.

Oreioth attacks Morg with Shocking Grasp with advantage due to metal armor, nullified by Jak's Vicious Mockery - MISS. As a bonus action, he casts Misty Step to move to AV10. Move behind tapestry to the west - Oreioth no longer visible.

Morg and Bram pull down part of the tapestry, but aren't able to tangle Oreioth up in it. They have a clear view of Oreioth now though, and Bram is in melee range.

Re: Day 4 - Lance Rock Part 2

Jak blinked for a second as Oreioth attacked Morg and disappeared. It only took him a moment to figure out that the spellcaster had ducked behind the tapestry, further enhanced by Bramwell and Morg pulling down the tapestry. Jak looked around and peeked behind the tapestry near him, and was surprised to see the necromancer coming right towards him!!

He panicked for a second and then his training and instincts took over as his mouth opened automatically and without conscious thought he called out, "What a terrible host! It's absolutely SHOCKING how ya tried t'treat your guest Morg just now!" It was lame but it was all his hindbrain came up with at the moment.

He quickly stepped back from the tapestry.

OOC: Vicious Mockery (1 damage), then step back to AO-11.

Re: Day 4 - Lance Rock Part 2

Oreioth snarls and rounds on Bram and Morg, and starts to raise his wand.  Then he staggers back into the cave wall as a blast of force shreds the tapestry and hits him squarely in the chest. A blast of ice slams into him a second later.

The necromancer goes pale, a look of panic passing across his bleeding face. Gathering himself, he quickly raises his wand again. It flashes a brilliant purple, and nine violet motes of light leap from the tip. Swirling in seemingly random directions through the air, they crash into his assailants. Oreioth flings the wand aside.

Map updated. The tapestry that Oreioth was behind is now shredded and destroyed for all intents and purposes. The wand landed at AR11.

Bram and Morg are up now.

Oreioth casts Magic Missile from the wand at 7th level. 3 darts hit Bram, 2 darts each hit Asano, Mayon, and Jak.

Bram takes 13 force damage.
Asano takes 4
Mayon takes 7
Jak takes 8

Bram staggered back a half-step as darts of arcane force lanced into him, bypassing his shield and armor entirely.  He groaned at the stinging pain, but remained standing despite the wounds.  It seemed that the necromancer was faring badly and knew it.  Bram grumbled, "The corruption of Lance Rock ends with you, necromancer."  He then raised his bearded axe and chopped at Oreioth with the intent to strike a killing blow.

Oreioth screams, a bloodcurdling cry. His body crumples at Bram and Morg's blows, and abruptly a deep black flame incinerates his body, leaving nothing it its wake except for wisps of dark smoke.

After a moment, nothing remains of the Lord of Lance Rock save a scorched mark on the cave wall.

Damn, you guys were on fire with the dice rolls! He had a few spell slots left that I didn't get to use - oh well, we had a long drawn out fight vs. the skeletons so this one was short and sweet.
