Re: Day 5 - Early Risers

Morg steels himself for a second, and seeing Dweeble anointing the wizard, runs to pick up the lantern on the floor and throws it as hard as he can at the floaty oily mage.
Bonus action: 2nd wind - heals 10 HP.

Move: to go pick up lantern (I'm not sure where exactly it is).

Interaction: pick up lantern.

Move: to try and get line of sight on Larrakh (DD39? If Morg can't get LOS, then action surge dash 25' to do it and then try to get cover.)

Action: throw lantern (2 lb. improvised weapon) at Larrakh to try and set him on fire - hits AC 19 for 9 bludgeoning  damage once (+fire damage every turn while on fire?).

10:14, Today: Morg Danforge rolled 10 using 1d10+2 with rolls of 8.  HP recovered from second wind.
10:14, Today: Morg Danforge rolled 19 using 1d20+4 with rolls of 15.  Attack Larrakh by throwing his lantern (improvised weapon) at him.
10:15, Today: Morg Danforge rolled 9 using 1d4+6 with rolls of 3.  Lantern (improvised weapon) bludgeoning damage to Larrakh.

Please ignore the duplicate 2nd wind roll on 10:24 - I accidentally reloaded that page.

Re: Day 5 - Early Risers

Bramwell groans and coughs on the stone dust that now heavily coats him, and attempts to wipe his spectacles clean with a gloved finger.  With ears ringing and hardly aware of his surroundings, he staggers against the nearest rock and bestows a curative blessing onto himself.

Re: Day 5 - Early Risers

Morg picks up the nearby lantern and hurries forward. He spies Larrakh behind the same massive stone and hurls the lit lantern at the man.

Larrakh spins and casts a quick spell. The lantern hits an unseen force and skitters to the floor at Larrakh's feet, spilling drops of burning oil.

The man leers at the dwarf, and then gesticulates and points. A deafening clap of thunder echos from Morg's position, and the caster retreats toward the far end of the room.

Mid round update! Map updated.

Mayon is up now. Asano and Jak can also post as they've not yet done so this round. Morg should make a Con save.

Larrakh uses his reaction to cast Shield, causing Morg's lantern attack to MISS.

Larrakh casts Shatter at DD39 (affects Morg) - 11 Thunder damage, or 1/2 for a successful Con save. He moves from DE34 to DD29.

Re: Day 5 - Early Risers

Jak grit his teeth and moved forward, trying to see if he can aid the fight somehow. Their foe didn't seem to be using attacks so much as spells, so Vicious Mockery was not perhaps as useful as normal. So instead Jak tried something else. He mimed a yawn and then pointed a finger at their opponent, humming a lullaby as he did so.

OOC: Move to CU-32 and cast Sleep at Larrakh.
And sigh. I rolled poorly IF he's even affected.
23:04, Today: Secret Roll: Jakrynn Redgate rolled 19 using 5d8 with rolls of 1,8,1,8,1.  Sleep Hit Points Total.

"Thanks, Dwee. Marlos is someone I've been told to hunt down." Mayon answers quickly, a bit out of breath, accepting the halfling's aid to continue scrambling up to try and get a look at Larrakh.

08:11, Today: Mayon Graycross rolled 12,9 using d20-1,d20-1 with rolls of 13,10.  Climb Stones--advantage from Help.
Not sure if that makes it or not. Still trying to get on top of the rocks for a better view of our hiding friend.
If Mayon does make it, and if that gives him eyes on Larrakh, he will cast Hex on him as a bonus action, disadvantage on Strength checks.

Re: Day 5 - Early Risers

Dweeble finished pulling the half-elf up with a squeaky grunt before diving down for the dagger she'd set down to assist Mayon.  With both hands filled with her weapons again she seemed at ease even as everyone sprang into the combat.  "Hunt him down?  Okay, Dweeble will help.  But if he has shinies she gets a rightful piece.  Got it, Mister?  No takesies backsies!"

She didn't wait for a reply.  A quick lick of her lips, as if anticipating something delicious, and she was in motion again.  She reached the edge of the rock and tumbled forward, kicking off of the top ledge and rolling with the motion as she followed where the floating man's path would take him.  Sure enough, as she came around one of the stones, she spotted her target and quickly tossed the mundane dagger in her hand towards him.  A moment later she was gone from his sight, hiding behind the very rock he'd moved behind moments before.

Move to CZ 29 (using bonus action to Dash).  Attack with thrown dagger.  Hits AC 15 for 7 damage (pending sneak attack if anyone gets within range).

Use more movement from Dash action to end movement at DB 30.

Jak looked at how far away the person seemed to be and looked at his options. Too far for a dart or dagger...well a well-thrown dart or dagger anyway. He frowned and thought maybe he should pick up a crossbow at some point.

For the moment, however, he called out to the person. "I see lotsa stone around here, but have YOU got the STONES for this fight? Yer outnumbered an' outclassed...probably."

Re: Day 5 - Early Risers

Bramwell draws again upon Deneir's curative power, and after a few more moments to catch his breath he feels in much better shape to chase down this madman.  The half-elf steps out from behind the levitating stone and strides toward where their foe was last seen.  Soon enough his light falls upon Larrakh hiding behind a pillar, and so Bram releases the glowing orb and leaves it hovering to illuminate the area.

He lifts the bearded axe from his belt and into his free hand as he circles the mage to pin him against the stone monolith.  Bram locks eyes with Larrakh and glares at him through dust-grimed spectacles, then says evenly, "It's over.  Yield."

  • Lay on Hands to heal self 10 HP (now at 18/22 HP)
  • Move to DC32 and leave driftglobe floating in that square

Re: Day 5 - Early Risers

Both of Morg's javelins soar through the air. Larrakh again traces a quick circle in the air as they approach, but one of the projectiles strikes home before his shield of air can protect him. Other attacks from around the room bounce harmlessly off the shield.

As Bram and Dwee approach, Larrakh closes his eyes. A localized tremor buckles the earth in a large circle around Larrakh, splitting the stone floor in several places. The stone monoliths throughout the room suddenly slam down onto the earth like enormous hammers.

Larrakh hurries away from Bram, then leaps onto the wall, walking up it with apparently no effort at all.

Mid round update! Map updated.

Mayon is up now. Bram and Dwee need to make Dex saves. Bram can make an opportunity attack, but it would be at disadvantage if he's prone.

Larrakh casts Earth Tremor*. Bram and Dwee need to make Dex saves - on a fail they will take 5 bludgeoning and be knocked prone. Larrakh moves to DI26, 10' up on the wall.

*Earth Tremor is a new spell that will be added to the spell lists for Bards (Jak) and Sorcerers (Asano). I'll post details in a new thread.

Bram and Dwee need to make Dex saves from last round. Bram can also make an opportunity attack from last round, but it would be at disadvantage if he's prone.

Round 4 Summary:

Bram heals himself and moves adjacent to Larrakh.

Dwee jumps down and throws a dagger at Larrakh - MISS. Then she retreats behind one of the floating rocks.

Dweeble grunts as the stone beneath her feet suddenly begins to shake.  She steadies herself for a quick moment then jumps lightly into the air, watching as the stone beneath continues to shake and convulse beneath her.  After she lands she quickly pulls a second dagger and tosses it at the floating man, her aim wide with her failure to take the time to prepare her attack.

"Stones aren't safe.  I need a meat shield!" she thinks to herself as she moves away from the rock before her.  Looking left and right, she spots Bram who seems to have been hit by the same tremor magic as she did.  She waited for him to make his move and then hurried behind him.  "Dweeble ain't never seen a floating man before.  'Spose he'd share his secret?  I've always wanted to fly."  She proposed the question to the half elf and then went silent, sliding behind his thin but much more considerable bulk.

Bramwell managed to keep his feet amidst the sudden rumbling in the floor, and sliced at the fleeing elementalist with his axe.  Seeing the fanatic scaling a wall, the Glyphscribe scrambles for a javelin and hurtles it, and it strikes true much to his own surprise.  He then stalks after his foe and stops a moment right beneath his climbing position to find proper holes and begins to ascend after the madman, just like he'd done on the rocky hillsides near his childhood home, many years past.  Only now he'd a little more to worry about then scraped knees and elbows.

Indeed, only moments later a ripple of earsplitting thunder sunders the stone all around Bram and bludgeons him with the shockwave.  With a cry of pain he collapses heavily amidst the rubble, unconscious.

  • Likely succeed Dex save vs. Earth Tremor with a 16, no damage or prone
  • Opportunity attack maybe hits Larrakh with 14 vs. AC for 11 slashing
  • (my turn) Throw a javelin at Larrakh, hit 20 AC for 5 damage
  • Move to DI26 right underneath Larrakh and attempt to climb up after him with 18 Athletics
  • Con save against Shatter fails, and Bram is knocked unconscious.

Re: Day 5 - Early Risers

Dweeble cried out with a shrill, painful shriek as the resounding bang of a thunderclap rocked through her body.  She grasped for Bram's armor, her little fingers reaching with an outstretched arm behind them for something to steady herself.  She only found air as she fell back and her eyes shut as she fell hard to the stone below.

A moment later her eyes fluttered open and she looked up to see the floating monster fly over her head and towards the adjacent wall.  She didn't hesitate.  She pulled a dagger from her hip and sprang to her feet.  She pulled her hand back to toss the weapon by its handle but stopped herself as she remembered Mayon's words.  With a 'humph' of acceptance, she flipped the dagger in her hand and caught it by the blade before tossing it straight as an arrow towards the floating man.  Surely the grip of her dagger wouldn't kill the man, right?

Dweeble stopped worrying about that as she took off for the nearest cover.  Her steps were heavy and pained as she sprinted across the stone floor.  Dweeble could feel her head ringing still from the powerful blast of sound.  She looked back towards Bram with a sorrowful glance.  Spectacles will get up.  Dweeble needs to take care of herself first.  Dweeble first, that's right!  The words sounded hollow in her head.  Though perhaps that was just the ringing still?
