Day 5 - Early Risers

As the afternoon wears on, grey clouds and cool breezes waft through the town of Red Larch. As the sun sets, the surrounding countryside is blanketed by darkness. Several street lanterns in the town cast dim light on the main roads. All feels quiet at just past midnight.

A few housekeeping/remindery things:

- Go ahead and reset your characters assuming a Long Rest at the inn. I've already done this in the Google Sheets versions of your character sheets. Let me know if I missed anything, if you refer to those.
- Asano's wand of magic missiles gets 1d6+1 charges back today - you'll probably want to roll that and note the result in your first post this thread.
- Asano is currently still poisoned and has a throbbing headache.
- Dim light (lightly obscured) is present in town on the roads, but outside of town there is darkness (heavily obscured). This is particularly relevant for Jak and Dwee who don't have darkvision.
- Bram can choose alternate spells for the day, if he wants to, as usual.
- I'll keep the Day 4 threads open for a bit in case anyone missed anything you wanted to do in town. I'll close them once Day 5 really gets going though.

Day 5 - Early Risers

Making sure no one was eavesdropping on them, Dweeble softly asked: "So why do you want to go sneaking about this quarry anyways? You wanna spy on someone? Spook someone? Steal from someone?" She looked behind her once more to make sure no one was listening. "Don't worry, Dweeble's got experience. Dweeble will show you how to do those things." A hint of pride in her voice could be detected. "Just gotta make sure to stay away from prying eyes. A small town this is; word travels fast."

"Spying for now, I think." Mayon says, keeping his voice soft and looking around quietly. "There's been some suspicious activity out there that the owner has been very keen on keeping hidden, and we'd like to see what it is."

Day 5 - Early Risers

The common room of the inn is deserted, with a single oil lamp burning low on one of the tables as Mayon and Dwee share a hushed conversation waiting for the others to join them.

Day 5 - Early Risers

Morg stumbles down the stairs,  muttering "" to himself. He nods at Mayon and Dwee, while walking out to the privy.

He returns a minute later, and sits down with the other two conspirators. "Shall I go put on my armor, or should I try to be quiet instead for our investigation?"

Day 5 - Early Risers

Jak came down the stairs, not quite stumbling, but clearly still rubbing the sleep from his eyes and cracking a wide yawn. He stopped and looked around, giving a wide sleepy grin to the companions already gathered. "Mornin'. Well...evenin' I guess. Whatever, heh."

He plopped down in a chair and looked around. "Awww, no dinner 'fore we head out? Dang."

He glanced over at Morg. "Uh. Hmm. Good question. One the one hand, if we get inna fight, it'd be better t'have ya in yer armor. But since we're not technically lookin' fer a fight?" He tilted his head back and forth and then shrugged. "I'd sans armor myself."

Day 5 - Early Risers

Asano slowly descends the stairs, rubbing at bleary eyes and stifling a yawn. He glances around the taproom, eyes squinted in the darkness, then drops into a chair at the table. Pulling his waterskin from his belt, he swallows a mouthful of water before pouring some into his off hand and splashing his face. He sighs heavily, lounging in the chair as the discussion mutters around him.

Day 5 - Early Risers

Bram descended the steps from the dorm room in his armor with hair slightly mussed but otherwise looking much refreshed.  He did appear slightly on edge when convening with the party, however, greeting them quietly, "Good evening, gentlemen... and lady."  He added the last bit with a smile after noticing Dweeble conversing excitedly with Mayon.

Asano looked dreadful, he noticed, and was in no shape for the forthcoming expedition.  The paladin took a chair next to him and said conversationally, "Still the worse for drink, are we, Asano?  Deneir affords me the ability to cure minor poisoning, including bottle-sickness.  Ask Jak, as I did so for him half a dozen times on the road to Red Larch."  He gave his fellow half-elf a serious look and offered, "I can relieve you of your ailment, but only if you agree to abstain from further drinking, at least until we've returned from our outing.  Can you do that, my friend?"

On the discussion of armor Bram added, "I'd planned to remain armored in case we encounter trouble, but I believe that I could keep quiet enough."  After a few days traveling alongside the Glyphscribe the ground was familiar with his clomping footfalls and jingling chain armor, though it seemed he was oblivious to it himself.

OOC:  I'll keep my previous spell selections.  If Dweeble or Jak wants to keep the Driftglobe you're welcome to, as you'll need the light more than Bram does!

Day 5 - Early Risers

"Thank you, Bramwell, but no," Asano groans, a hand against his temple. "I can bear the consequences of my actions. I'll manage."
